Do what actually works for YOUR hair periodT if 10 steps is what’s giving you the results you want and is working for your hair then DO IT!! If Oils and Butters work for you then rock on, if it doesn’t then rock on…. And all the points in between. Do what’s works for you and stop worrying about what someone WITHOUT your hair tell you what to do. You have to learn your hair and get comfortable with your own hair and ROCK IT!!! Healthy hair should be the goal and taking care of your hair no matter what you are doing. Anything that is causing harm is no good. Balance people Balance Goin LOVE❤

Trend I want to left behind, is ‘addressing’ the natural hair community or natural hair as whole as if we’re a monolith or as if the education/experience to do so is present when it’s not. From my observation, the natural hair community has always been a cluster of conversations. You join one. You learn from another. You disagree with yet another. You move on to another and keep learning and growing and agreeing and disagreeing. I find the blaming of the whole community for X,Y, and Z to be shortsighted and even scapegoating, depending on the topic and the person discussing it. It would be nice (and far more accurate) if everyone just discussed themselves in my humble opinion.

im dealing with a bit of thinning so for the next year I decided to invest 100 dollars each quarter and take myself to a professional to get a deep cleaning and scalp rejuvenation services. I'm not doing this out of convenience, cuz honestly I've been in the game for 14 years now, but I get a different point of view on how to better nurture my hair. sometimes that education from a professional can cut years off of you finding out through trial and errors and heart break.

I agree. I’ve the utmost respect for professional hair stylists. The time they put in to study their craft can be so valuable to clients. I think the issue is when the service and the price aren’t equivalent. $100 sounds like a great price for the value you’ve gotten!

Yes, please preach 🙌🏾 after having a hard time with my scalp in 2020 (due to covid + oil overuse) I just let go of the pure oils and butters for good. I was doing so much unnecessary stuff. Also, it was great that you touched on the colorism and texturism aspects, because we're definitely tired of the judgment. Great video like always ❤

5:32-5:46 I can almost guarantee the insults are from Black females. I hate that we can be our own worst enemies. And I totally agree. Let's embrace every word that was used to put us down. Black is beautiful and all the associations with blackness! I wasn't aware of the cutting of neonatal hair myth but I can certainly see why people would believe it. Colorism and texturism is an ongoing problem in Black communities and I long for the day when it will die out. One thing I would love to see go in 2024 is putting the idea in our young sisters' heads that their hair needs to be straitened for special occasions. Our hair is beautiful in its natural state and is suitable for all occasions! We should celebrate our diversity and uniqueness, not conform to a narrow standard of beauty.

I actually watch and read a lot of hair care content online from people who have type 1 hair (and 2) and it's so confusing because when I'm in the type 1 spaces they always say to never shampoo your hair and only shampoo your scalp in that shampoo is made for the scalp only. They say that when you rinse it out that the shampoo will clean your hair but my hair is not flat and stringy when wet so that doesn't happen. I have to manually move the suds from my scalp to my hair in order to clean my hair. Also they're not usually putting product on their hair so there's not much to clean off besides pollution from the outside. I frequent those spaces because I like reading, talking, and hearing about hair care (especially scientific stuff) but natural hair spaces aren't as active or don't contain the types of content I want to see (like I don't want to see how these two ingredients major hair grow 7 inches overnight). Oh to clarify, the spaces aren't actually meant for type 1/2 people. Like I'm not searching up type 1 hair care since they barely ever would market themselves that way anyway. But hair care forums online, unless they're specifically made for type 4 hair, are filled with people who do not have type 4 hair. It's like how when you look for something on Pinterest and then you have to add black girl next to it so that you can see it on a black girl lol. But if you don't specify the majority is going to be the other.
@cfoster6804
@cfoster6804 6 ай бұрын
I'm the same way. I started watching white girls hair videos mainly because I use certain salon brands and I can't find many black women that use them as well. I don't use "our" products because I find they are too heavy for my strands and seems like we only get 4 fragrances: tropical fruit basket, straight up chemicals, funky sulfur, or hotep Egyptian musk.😂 Anyway I digress. I do always hear white stylists and youtubers still say only shampoo the scalp. Sorry but that's gross to me. Nothing is getting cleaned without soap and FRICTION.

How about asking people with really long locs, “When do you plan on cutting it?” This is for my husband because his locs are almost to his ankles and someone either ask this question or instantly want to touch it.😒 Also can we trash the hate for grey hair?

LMAO I prepoo because I wash my hair once a week (I use the pattern and love it because I can prepoo while I do something else), then use a cleansing shampoo and then use hydration shampoo if feel super stripped, and then use a deep conditioner (I no longer use conditioner). I only use scalp serum and then for my actual hair I use leave in conditioner and then curl cream and then mousse if my hair isn't as defined as I want. OMG my aunt told me (she is Caribbean) that my hair was nappy and looks hard and I need to do something with it (mind you I just landed that day so my hair wasn't done because I was on a 5 hr flight). I told her to leave me alone because her hair was permed and to stop telling me what to do my hair. I want the trend of telling people what they should and shouldnt do with their hair to die (like if they want to be natural or lazy natural, permed, color, protective style etc let them).
