Back in the early seventies, l recall reading in either in the magazine Bushido, or in a Hong Kong martial mag, about a Ronin in Feudal times who was pushing his weight around and looking for trouble in an inn. He was renowned with a sword and people were very scared of him. He made a big mistake one day however, when before he could step back and draw his sword after instigating an argument, he was felled by fifteen precision thrown darts, cast by a very quiet spoken inoffensive looking stranger. Reading about that impressed me so much, even all these years later, I can still recall reading it.

At one time I was able to put a knife into a pole from 36 ft all weekend after an initial few hours... A Pole, with only a slight flat area, tends to deflect easily, thus you must be in line about two inches is your target zone... A Deck of Cards, aka Adams Apple... Above body armour. Was getting into tent pegs, nails & One Inch Punch, when a few things changed and stopped training.

They make square sharpened steel throwing "cards" that look exactly like well...regular playing cards. When the dude threw the card into the log I thought of those steel cards and laughed. Then he tore up the card he threw. I wasn't laughing anymore. Just incredible! All these demonstrations are amazing. Goes back to the story of drinking straws and blades of grass or hay penetrating telephone poles during tornados. Proof that if something is going fast enough, it makes things thought impossible possible.

Not an expert but I recall seeing a live demo about it. They said it is not the most deadly weapon but having the rope tied to what is essentially a spear head allows you to pull off some very unexpected moves, like how you can suddenly change it's trajectory by controlling the rope with your arm, leg, or even neck. This let's you land some hits that may not kill on the spot but will definitely hurt them like hell

Wrapping the rope around has many uses. 1. To control the motion of the dart. 2. To get precise timing. 3. To get right direction 4. To get adequate distance 5. Get on the flow without halt 6. To go on with the body moments So on and so forth. It's like if you can use rope dart flow along with your body moments it will be great but you still need good timing and direction and all (in practical aspect). You can see that guy in the video used his feet to direct the shot. Without a long rope you won't gain range. Without shortening it you aren't gonna kick that thing with your foot. To avoid the rope stuck somewhere or something similar you warp it in a certain way so that when you shoot you always get the full range of the rope. I'm not good at this thing but still I learned this thing for a period of time. I hope I am good at answering. Pardon me for my english.

I'm just not convinced. I'd like to see gel tests at a distance. Also, more penetration power was only shown when done really close or when the target or card wasn't visually verified to be what it looked like. For real effect, you'd likely need metal or weighted items. Most of this appears to be merely tricks that look cool but aren't of the nature they are attempting to make it out to be.

In ancient fighting, just fewer longer meter the better it is. I think the most effective for needle dart is 2 to 3 meter. Just imagination when you try to approach your target to fight, you already receive damage.
@reginaldwelkin

@@1HistoryDragon I totally understand that, but most of those were at mere inches. I'm guessing some of those were metal playing cards or else sophisticated props. (e.g. card into bottle)

Like you realize that actual bullets dont have a 100% stoppage rate right? Like people take multiple shots and keep going. So thinking that even if you enhanced the darts you would stop someone with three darts and that they wouldnt be able to draw and hit you with some real fast moving darts you are fooling yourself.
@NicholasDraughn
@NicholasDraughn Жыл бұрын
@@metamorphicorder If you think someone with three 6 inch long spikes buried a couple inches in their flesh is going to not be stunned at all and remain calm enough to shrug it off and then fire a weapon accurately and quickly then you sir are fooling yourself. Plus although you are right about people surviving being shot, it is extremely unlikely that they will continue to pursue their attacker unless they are heavily under the influence of drugs. You should look up the 21 feet knife rule. Even the police and military know that a well trained hand weapon can be more lethal than a gun in close combat.
@metamorphicorder
@metamorphicorder Жыл бұрын
@@NicholasDraughn you are delusional. Number one, these darts arent getting 2 in into someone. Number too if you think its possible that people fight through being shot multiple time but think a few darts are going to always end the fight, again you are delided. Your are using magical thinking. Thats just not how life works. Im not aaying that the darts are totally useleas or they wouldnt hurt someone. Im saying that if bullets in calibers well known for stopping people in one shot dont always stop people, these darts wont either. Kinda like how the katana is a good sword but not always the best sword. Being vaguely asian doesnt make a weapon magically effectice or in defensible. As to the 21 ft rule and the army comments, that goes for all projectile weapons. The rule as i learned it when i was working the kind of job that needed to learn it was 'if there is a threat 21 feet or less from you and moving when you realize you need to draw, you will not clear leather (unholster) get aim and fire two shots before the threat is at your position. That was the wording of the rule. But if you havent actually sat through the explanation of what it means you wont make much use of it. Kinda like how you reference it here and do so in such context that it applies equally well to your darts as it does to the guns. The two primary takeaways from the 21 foot rule were this. Situational awareness, make sure that you are paying attention to whats going on around you when you are in situations of elevated danger ( its a good rule for life bit in our class we were training to deal with the public primarily in confrontational situations and other possibly dynamic situations). And you did this so that you could have as much chance as possible to react to a situation where the danger suddenly increased by moving the fuck away from the danger and not to be glued to 'the spot' trying to get your gun out to deal with it. Its not that going to gun is always bad, or the wrong thing to do or that baton pepper spray or hand to hand is a better option. That is sometimes the case. But its not always but in cases where you can get off the line of attack and simultaneously be deploying something whatever it is to deal with the threat. That may be gun or baton or hand to hand or continuing to created distance and seeking cover and concealment for yourself. Yes there are situations that dictate that not going to gun is the right thing to do. But it may also be that you are going to gun but not into tour typical shooting form and rather doing a close combat draw and fire while moving out of the line of attack. Its not a simple subject.

I used to practice with many different shiruken when I was younger. That was about 20 years ago. I've been working as a bouncer on and off since I was 15. I now understand that most throwing "weapons" aren't weapons at all, and are only meant for distraction in modern times. Most shuriken would only serve to make me angry, and would make my counter attack that much more vicious. My point being, continue to practice and have fun. But, do NOT rely on this skill to save you, and I would stow this tactic in a real life situation. You might just run into someone like me with above world average height, training, experience, and the natural ability to mitigate pain.
