I'll add an 8th must have item and say those rounded corner cuter devices. It makes your life so much easier when attaching paper in your bullet journal or cutting paper in your bujo. It is also perfect for card making as well! The uses are endless !!

At school in the ‘70s in the UK we progressed from pencil straight to fountain pen and we were taught the ruler flip as standard. We were not allowed to use ballpoint pens as we were told after your first page you were never writing on a smooth surface.

Oh wow. I’ve heard that from alot of my UK friends. I love that it was a part of school. I was just telling my girls how they need to learn cursive because they don’t teach it anymore and it’s a good skill.

A 6B pencil is invaluable for writing on plastic and washi. No smudging and it doesn't rub off.

Would love to see a part two! Your favorite scissors, adhesive tape runners, correction tape or fluid, sticky notes, etc. Also- what are those hexagonal pen holders in the beginning?!

Mark, for a great journal with wonderful paper try Oops a Daisy. Very white and very thick. Best 160gsm paper I’ve used.

Great list! I'd recommend Midori Chiratto Index Clips - they are super thin like the darts but they protrude only a couple of millimeters which makes it slightly easier to skip to that page. Also: the Uni Jetstream 4&1 (4 color inks + 0.5mm mechanical pencil) which comes in 0.38, 0.5 and 0.7mm pen options.

My favourite thing to use in my bullet journal is a fountain pen. Another handy thing in my collection is a Uniball Signo in white; handy for covering over little mistakes. These are just about the best white gel pens you can buy.

Love this! My favorite pens have become the Frixion erasable pens - specifically the multi pen with 4 colors. My plans change a good bit and I love color coding things so those pens are my favorite. I also love the Pentel Energel and Pilot G2 pens - classics for me. I agree that Archer & Olive has the absolute best notebooks, hands down. Thanks for a great video. Going to have to look up those book dart things, that was cool.

The other pen that won't smudge under a highlighter is a Uni Pin Fine Line! So good! Also have you tried the new Uni Lakubo? Great pen!

Thanks for that reply I’m starting to get spoiled up I think I’m going with all 3 types plain, ruled, and graph I bought the bullet journal method book so all I need to do know is read it I’ve obtained some of the tools from your video and starting to learn how to use them Thanks for your help

The original bullet journal method is by Ryder Carroll, but any style or spread that works for you is what I find the best, ham is the weight thickness of the paper =grams per square cm, the higher the gsm basically the more paint, ink, water it can take Style is what you like working writing painting drawing in the best my favorite is for grid helps keep everything straight without the heavy lines, I can’t draw a straight line! I combine daily schedule planning , to do, thoughts in one journal I use daily plus a reading journal and a cooking -recipe journal has recently been added! A BJ or any is whatever you want and need it to be, enjoy!

GSM is how thick the paper is. Most paper is 80 - 160. The higher the number the thicker the paper. The style of paper is up to you. Whatever you think will work best. And experiment - it’s the only way to see. The method is the biggest difference. It involves a lot of little points from different types of journaling and task taking.

I really need to give the Uniball gel pens a try. So far my favorite pen to write with in my bujo has been a Pentel Energel S .7. The ink seems to flow so smoothly, and it's very black. It also seems to dry very quickly. But it wouldn't hurt for me to be open to other ideas.

Currently working with PaperMate InkJoy pen 100 0.7 F and Muji gelpen 0.5mm. The first one for thinner paper as it tends to push through the ticker paper, the gelpen for A&O notebooks. I'm mostly using A&O, but also notebooks with thinner paper if I care about design a little less: Dingbats for ideas and thoughts (on the go), Mijn Bullet Journal (Dutch brand) 5-year one line a day and Bullet Journal 2.0 for my goals. I don't want to be precious about this the way I am with A&O journals. Also a ruler, Stabilo light grey point 88 and Tombow Dual Brush Pens are favorites.

Please try the Frixion pens. Think they come in 0.5 and 0.7. I like the 0.5. So easy to erase mistakes if made!

I will add - find a book that has acid free paper and use archival ink of you want the books to stick around. Otherwise, Archer & Olive and Notebook Therapy will work if you don’t mean to keep any archival records/notes. ❤
