SIZING
For reference, I am 160cm or 5'3. I wear an AU 6, XS. EU 34 and US 0 (I take one size down in US sizing). I am more pear shaped and often need to size up one size for pants for it to fit well at the hip. For jeans I am usually a W26.

So many times I've made bad purchases because I don't think about the piece as becoming part of my own wardrobe and how it will mix and match or complete outfits. Love this video as a reminder for 2023!

You look so good and elegant in that dark blue jumpsuit. I feel it is one of you best outfits. But I agree it is a hassle to wear it, especially when it is potty time 😂

I'm avoiding overly complicated clothing items. This is why I love jumpsuits tbh and want more of them. This means items that have overly detailed elements that take away from my face. I want to focus on silhouettes and textures and lean away from color, pattern, and detail.

I feel the same way about a lot of the pieces that you mentioned. I like how you broke down the Sezane blouse and why you won’t buy tops like that this year. I knew that top was a bit too much for me but didn’t really know why. You explained it perfectly- it has too many design elements going on at once and would be overwhelming on me. I loved this video, thanks!!

You definitely have a classic essence to your style! It's so interesting how each person is different and different things look so differently on each of us. If I wore your wardrobe. (which I love btw) I would look a little too stuffy because I'm not really a classic essence person. As a natural essence (and Kibbe body type) person, things like a nice fleece or jumpsuit look so chic and polished when worn with makeup. I love seeing people's different style and I've followed you for a long time.

I agree about bomber jackets. I actually gave mine to my boyfriend. I know the fashion industry is telling us that a bomber is very versatile but I feel the opposite. It only really looks good with one or two types of outfits, but otherwise can look very out of place

Very interesting hearing why something doesn't work for you, it makes me think a bit more about why I don't like certain trends or even items in my wardrobe. Eg I love jumpsuits and playsuits and dresses - a one and done deal outfit, no need to bother with mixing and matching, but at the same time I don't reach for them as often since I've also felt the looks to become a bit boring after a while, and during the summer layering isn't really an option.. Also, with the jackets I personally won't be getting one even if they're almost everywhere nowadays (ppl catch on to trends very quickly here!). Since I'm so short they feel too oversized for my frame - and not in a good way. It makes it looks like I'm wearing something a few sized to big rather than being chic and modern 😅

I think playing with jewelry, shoes, and hair styles have really been a way for me to play around more with dresses and jumpsuits! In summer, I like to play around wtih different silhoutte shirts/blouses that really can change the feel as well.

One thing I also noticed with playsuits/jumpsuits is that I HATE layering on them whether that's a belt/or jacket just because I have to take everything off again for the bathroom. So that's a MAJOR downside not being able to style them in as many ways. I always love hearing your thoughts - with the jackets I've found the same thing. I will say, while in Japan, I saw many styles of fleece and bomber jackets that did surprisingly suit a lot of more petite ladies. But unfortunately the styles I get here and online are just too much.

Less than a minute in & I adore those green earrings on you! They REALLY suit you! Color palette for the win! Edit to add: Something I love about a bag with structure is that medium sized things seem to stay in place really well. An unstructured bag turns into a veritable trash bag for me. So I lean toward the one I won’t need to rummage in.

So interesting with your observation that softer lines suit you better than harsh lines! We have a lot of similar physical characteristics so it’s something I’ll try observing. The fleece, if they are so oversized, wind comes in and not warm enough 😂. And the photos shown of the models wearing them... one rule I have when shopping online is, if it doesn’t look good or right on a model, it will look worse on me. ❤

A lot of great insights :) Often, I find, I gravitate towards beautiful things which doesn't mean I have to own them. Funnily enough, after having been to a fine arts museum I don't feel like shopping as much.

Very interesting video. I agree about the jumpsuits - I will never buy one, no matter how good it looks, because I cannot bear the thought of all that kerfuffle everytime I need to go to the loo! I'll leave that to people who don't mind. I will ignore the fleece trend until they turn back into something that your dad wears in the garden. I also don't find that fleece keeps in very good condition, and it picks up a lot of stuff. I look completely ridiculous in those sharp shoulders too - I wish I could pull them off, but I just look like a pinhead.

Couldn't agree more with long, big bomber jacket, jumpsuits and really structured bags. I have always hated jumpsuits...too much hassle when you need to go to the washroom ! And the structured bags are really inconvenient, for me at least...

I used to love blazers but now i avoid them like the plague. i work from home mostly and live in northern california, very casual style is the norm here. I love sherpa style jackets but they cannot be too large or bulky looking. LLBean does one that is semi fitted and looks really great imo

I think the reason the jumpsuit doesn’t quite work is a) sleeves could be cut different and b) needs styling. Replacing the belt or tying a handkerchief to your neck would look nice!

The fleece style jacket adds visual bulk so if you're already top heavy it'll only accentuate that.

I like to wear casual or girly outfits with one feminine detail. Lately it is using more polished and structured leather handbags.

Even though we heve pretty different styles I agree on almost all of these. I’m all for a casual look, but wearing a bomber jacket, cargo pants and fleece jacket (even though not together) make me feel like I try to dress like a teenager. It looks good on other people though

My partner looks really good in the shaggy jacket look. It suits him way more than me. When he wears his shaggy jacket everyone compliments it, but when I wear it I don’t get the same reaction. Lol. He is very svelte with really slim legs so I think the bulk on top kind of balances him out where as on me who is pear shaped the shag makes me look more like I’m bundling up to go to bed than go out.

I think jumpsuits can be beautiful statement pieces! That's how I wear them. I have two from COS that I wear constantly in summer that are among my fav, as I'm not a huge dress person (although I picked up a couple fun ones in the last year). And I mean this in all the positive ways, but I think your jumpsuit would fall more on the basic end - which are the ones I sold as I also don't find them much interesting.

@@Felicia594 She says they look nice on, but they arent as special or wow to justify the hassle. And that shes i willing to tolerate a little hassle if its a special item. I interpreted that that the 'pros' dont 'outweight' the cons. I felt that for some of my jumpsuits, but not for others. Especially because some jumpsuits can have very interesting silhouttes that can have very different vibes based on shoes & hair.

I’m avoiding the midi/maxi denim skirt I see everywhere at the moment, as a petite pear shaped woman I can’t imagine anything that is going to look worse on me

I don’t like fleece fabrics, either. I don’t like the look of them and they’re always made of synthetic fibers that aren’t breathable and are just too warm for my climate. I do have a black, super-lightweight, old fleece jacket that I wear when doing messy stuff at home, but I’d much rather wear a breathable cashmere or cotton cardigan sweater. I have any ivory fleece jacket with cognac fake-leather trim, but I just never choose it, it’s too specific, it really only looks good with with ivory or especially, cognac.

I wonder, why jumpsuits and rompers are even a thing. Yes they might look good, but they are such a hassle to wear them. Going to the bathroom isn't exactly easy in them. If something isn't practical, I won't but it. Also if a dress, skirts, trousers or jackets don't have decent pockets.

I love teddy bear coats for the texture they bring but I'm also banning myself from every buying one because I know how awful they wear out. I'm also trying to dress more put together and this style of jacket is definitely not going in the right direction

Hey Trish, absolutely a personal list based on my lifestyle/also style preferences. Fleece for example doesn't feel practical for my climate, though could be an essential for another x
