You are only as healthy as your liver. Your liver performs more than 500 tasks, but its main function is to detoxify you of poisons.
It's important to be aware of these products in certain foods that ruin your liver, so you can avoid them and keep your liver healthy.
Be sure to eat plenty of vegetables, especially cruciferous, regularly to maintain a healthy liver.
7 products that hurt the liver and you should avoid it at all costs:
1. Eat trans fat. On food labels, trans fats may be listed as "partially hydrogenated" fats. Your liver doesn't process trans fats correctly, which causes a rise in blood sugar and storage of fat in the liver.
2. Alcohol consumption
Alcohol is converted through the liver enzyme alcohol dehydrogenase to formaldehyde which causes liver cell death (also known as cirrhosis) and fatty liver disease.
3. Sugar and specifically fructose. Sugar is just as harmful as alcohol and very very addictive. The liver does not tolerate fructose contained in sugar, high fructose corn syrup or agave syrup.
4. Aflatoxins: toxins produced by some fungal strains of the species Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus. Peanuts and corn are products that are more easily contaminated.
5. Eating with too much salt. Excessive salt intake increases blood pressure in the main artery of the liver which can lead to chronic liver disease. Try not to exceed more than one teaspoon of salt per day which is equivalent to 2.3 grams per day.
6. Some supplements and vitamins. The liver does not tolerate taking too much vitamin A supplements well. Instead of taking a vitamin A supplement you should get it naturally by eating vegetables and oily fish.
7. Drugs that are metabolized by the liver. In this case we find analgesics such as paracetamol or acetaminophen.
