Richmond city resident here (near Willow Lawn). This is the 2nd KZfaq video I’ve watched recently that has mentioned the high number of tourists. Y’all make it sound like it’s Paris, or somewhere like that! 1) I’m delighted that we get lots of visitors. 2) I’ve never been inconvenienced by tourists. High humidity and high taxes and high allergens - yes, yes, and yes! These things have inconvenienced me.

As a Richmond area resident, this list is absolutely correct.

Southsider here from 93 to 22 then i had to dip. But I'll tell you that Richmond is growing and building to and I'm proud of the consistent growth. Like look how much grtc is growing with the pulse and now they're getting the articulated buses, that's a big deal

Any areas near Pochohantes state park that have the small downtowns , safe, good shopping or other areas not near downtown Richmond that have good gravel, dirt trails, mtb'ing etc... ? Richmond gets more icy weather (sleet/frozen rain mix) than snow causing very dangerous driving conditions. Even with no precipitation, encountering black iced roads in va is common in freezing temperatures.

I have lived in multiple countries and states domestically. Relocating to Richmond is THE WORST mistake I ever made. If you are remote worker considering moving to Richmond - DON'T! Do not and I mean DO NOT remotely think of moving to Richmond. Customer service, food, any essence of culture and inclusivity is not present in RICHMOND. I f-ing hate it here. You will not have one seamless, problem free customer service experience. From restaurants, retail, car rentals, to fitness, alleged "luxury" property management, to even moving services. Businesses don't answer phones, don't open on time, front-face staffing is rude, people will cancel appointments day of, Richmond restaurant food will have your stomach in knots. You will also find inflated prices on the most basic things - as so many Richmond businesses with subpar products and services overcharge in an attempt to make up for pandemic economic losses.

Thank goodness someone finally exposed Virginia for their hidden taxes. Virginia's personal property for vehicles are the highest in the US. Look it up on wallet hub. Virginia hides taxes under the name of FEES. I can't tell you what to do but I wouldn't tell everyone how bad Virginia is. I am also from Virginia and I can't wait just three more years until retirement to get out of here. I use to absolutely Love Virginia but for the last few years Virginia has been on a race to the bottom. I might get with you in 36 months to help me sell My house. Good luck.

I'm born and raised in Richmond VA and the old Richmond used to be alot more loving and greeting. Over the years I blame VCU, Gentrification and them locking up everyone over the yrs it seems this place is a place of Transplants from other places who have no history or connection to Richmond. It is no longer a loving place. I don't recognize anyone here. So I guarantee the nose in the air folks are the Transplant people living here. I actually Hate it here now and am trying to figure our where to go where there is community and good living.

To be clear, you are mainly talking about in the city limits. The surrounding counties are generally much nicer. Not to say there are not any nice areas in Richmond, there are. Virginia is a commonwealth state meaning the cities and counties are completely separate from each other. They each have their own governments.

Virginia has the highest car taxes in the entire Nation !!! Warning .. don't come here with expensive cars .. for example a Jeep Wrangler or F-150 etc for example could cost you $3000 taxes per year, yes !!! I drive a 6 year old Hyundai and pay $600 per year ...Your annual taxes on your automobiles could be more than your home property taxes ....which are very low in some parts of VA. Please if you live here or will live here ...vote to lower the automobile taxes .. at least the first $25000 assessed ,, should be at a lower rate. States that do have an annual car tax is much lower than VA , such as NC, SC ,TN .. much lower taxes.

Let's " expound" on some of the reasons NOT to move to RVA : 1. TOLL BOOTHS - continually paying for roads that are strewn with potholes is totally unacceptable- and very "New Jersey- Like"- they should pay all drivers to attempt to drive wagon trails. 2. RUDE DRIVERS & HEAVY TRAFFIC- you can look up just about any survey about the "rudest" states for drivers in the US, and VA ranks high on the list- congratulations... 3. SOUND BARRIER WALLS - a good example of this is right off 95 when getting on Chippenham Pky...what a depressing sight- with litter everwhere... 4. URBAN DECAY- just take a leisurely drive down Hull St or the Lakside area....nuff said... 5. CRIME- murder, theft, vandalism... 6. LOCATION OF RICHMOND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY- they tried to make it sound " big- time", but the location is still downright embarrassing- besides the racing was a LOT better when it was just the Fairgrounds Raceway- basically a " bull ring" with metal guardrails... 7. SNOBBY PEOPLE- many Richmonders ( and Virginians) will let their " guard down" when fleeing RVA for the Outer Banks or Myrtle Beach, in search of REAL bbq & REAL beaches; but they return all "prim & proper"... but maybe they act this way b/c when they cross back over the state line, they are greeted with the warm & friendly reminders like : "Radar Detectors Illegal " & "Speed Limits Enforced By Aircraft "- what a JOKE...Richmond, ( like much of Va) , is aways caught in that conundrum- they think they are better & above Carolinians, but yet still have enough southern " conscious " left to still frown on extreme Northern views...

Where would you suggest someone in their mid 30s who is looking for LGBTQIA+ friendly, walkable area, friendly pit bulls acceptable, yard, no kids would buy in RVA? I’m planning to visit next month and check out some houses/land while in the area. Moving from Austin, TX

The best kept secret city in the USA ever Richmond is like having the best of all worlds 🌎 I call it the melting pot of the mid Atlantic perfect location right in the middle of everything north, south ,east and west extremely diverse, Hispanic, Hindu, african, Asian, Caucasian African American, you name it has all races living there so cultural so much to see explore more restaurants then days of the year and oh my such a walkable city excellent transportation system downtown the pulse takes you all around runs every 10 to 15 min The Main street train station u can hop on downtown and take a ride up to Dc our Nation capital right up the road ,downtown is amazing from broad street to carytown to the fan distric, to Scott's Addition row houses like up north restaurants on every corner in the Fan district, boutiques and quaint stores line Carytown I could go on and on I love ❤️ RVA 👍 ❤️.

This is mostly nonsense. RVA is like most cities in America, pros and cons. The absolute and real negative aspect of RVA and most American cities is the simple fact that vast swathes of our cities are dangerous and off limits to go into, much less to even live near by. Pretending and dancing around this fact is understandable but it is also the truth.

You might delete my comment but the number one reason should be. If you're a history buff stay away from Richmond and Virginia because all history is being erased. Fyi: We are across the river in Chesterfield.
