Yes, we absolutely LOVE Staffies, and if there could be even more Staffies in the world, that would be awesome. But unfortunately, there are a huge number of Staffies in shelters because owners didn't know what they were getting themselves into. Or, they got their Staffy for the wrong reasons.
So, no matter what dog breed you want, always do your research and know exactly what it takes to care for that breed.
In today's video, we go over reasons not to get a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and the things that make Staffies unique. As we said, we think it would be great if there were more Staffies in the world. But first, more people need to understand the breed and whether they're right for their family. 🦴

Too late to talk me out of it. I am on my third English Staffy...over 25years! You are right though, they aren't for everyone, but they are my favorite all time breed.

The most reasson why they are common in shelters is cuz people love it when they are a puppy until they become a adult. Thats boring for them than. Staffies english and american staffords are the easiest breed to own and to train. Infact... they are so sweet, social and calm from nature that it almost dont take much time to train them. They love to sleep and being lazy and cuddles.

I just rescued a 10-year-old girl sweet heart and I love her to pieces. You didn't mention the gas! lol. she sleeps with me, and all I know about her is that she was taken from someone who had "too many dogs", but she has had several litters, and has nightmares at night, and it feels like a healed broken rib where she was kicked in the past. She is so sweet and should have had a loving home alln her life. She's mine now,, and is my little black and white shadow who snores mightily! Oh the person is in jail...

My dog Kylo is part Staffy: 1. Two hour-long trips to the off-leash dog park where Kylo can play and have the zoomies helps! 2. Thank goodness he's not destructive 3. Yeah, Kylo gets the itchies from some dog foods 4. I haven't had problems with Kylo eating anything he shouldn't other than goose poop and mud at the park. 5. People don't tend to cross the sidewalk because . . . 6. Kylo is visibly the happiest friendliest dog in the whole world, so people WANT to say hi to him! 7. No problems with licking, but holy cow, is he NEEDY for attention! 😆 But I love to give it to him, so we're both happy. 🥰

Same applies to most dog breeds! Wouldn't have any other type.. mines 11 now and at the vets every 2 weeks..surely that goes for every dog.. the food reference is spot on but I wouldn't know the difference always had staffy dogs just depressing when they get old like any other dog!..😢

Absolutely brilliant video and most definitely very true, some people really don't like passing my wife and I, when we're out with our amstaff and frenchie cross, and yet our dogs are very friendly.

I would not cope if i didnt have a staffy in my life .i just love there personalitys they always give you so much love and are always happy to see you .i am so lucky i work from home so they have never been left alone .staffs hate being on there own so if somebody is out all day there not the dog for you you would need a pet sittter or someone to look after them .ive never owned any other breed .my mum got me my first staffy 38 years ago and ive loved the breed since then.when you own a staffy you never have any sad days .the only sad day is when you let them go 😢i lost my old girl in november 2023 my girl mischief. She is over the rainbow bridge now with my old boy tyson there was only a year between them so when i lost my boy it broke not just my my heart it broke my old girls too .i then got by boy ragnar and they had so many good times together. I just love staffys😘❤

I volunteer at a rescue in Australia and we have so many Staffy and Staffy-mixed breeds coming through to be rehomed. I'd take them all if I could - now living with my third Staffy and they are the best damned breed around.

ive kept staffies for 30 years (6 dogs total) and never known one have an allergy to any food ...they eat and tolerate everything,plus not one of them has ever destroyed anything in the house .....raising two puppies together once was incredibly hard but other than that they have been a breeze

@@Gbonejohn1974 Oh! You're there! Thank you John. I'm trying to work out if I'd be doing a Staffy more harm than good. I'm an old lady and I can't walk very far so couldn't take her for a walk and can only afford a dog walker about twice a week for a really good walk. Sorry! That makes no sense. I've seen a 10 year old Staffy on a rescue kennels website that I keep going back to. They won't answer questions but I did find out that she'd been there for 2 years. 2 YEARS!!! That broke my heart. I keep getting drawn back to her but ... I can offer her everything - mental/physical play/training - except for the proper walks. Soooo ... would that be worse for her than staying in the kennels? Your help will be much appreciated.

@@margaretnicol3423 absolutely not ,a loving home with interaction is in my mind far more important than long walks daily ….once my staffs got to that age they basically pottered around the yard anyway ,it’s not ideal but in my mind there is no doubt a home of its own with a loving owner trumps the walks,staffies are so people orientated life in a kennel must be soul destroying for them ,I’d rescue one even if I could never walk it ,plenty of ways to tire a dog out especially mentally

The trick I use to get people who are skittish around staffies is to train my girl to carry a tennis ball everywhere when we're on walks. A burly Little dog can be intimidating a Burly little dog with a tennis ball in his mouth is adorable. It's a great way to get people to warm up to the breed.

I have a staffy , American staffy cross. I take her for 3 30 minute walks every day while throwing a frisbee. Although they are energetic it is hard to match their loyalty as a breed.

I have three Staffordshire bulls they are so loving and friendly..unfortunately people not so much ive had people run the opposite way with there dog or hold there dog up in the air crazy and all my staffs want to do is say hi let's play it's people not dogs that's the problem ..Staffordshire bulls are a fantastic breed especially with children..

I just bought a KC registered Staffy pup...very intense!! Make sure to get lots of toys! More than 10! 20 minimum. And no I'm not exaggerating

Most people are selfish on this plain, they will get this kind of dog at a young age for sure but they are never really thier for it. They would be working, thier money for nights out, clothing, holidays etc and soon as vet bills are needed the poor dog ends up in a shelter and then at somepoint put down. People are killing dog breeds through thier selfish nature and those who have a dog and fit into these categories, you dont deserve a pet and instead of sending it to a death setence how about you take the time to find it a family that can love it and be its companion daily.

Can i feed it food that we human eat, sometimes bread or salamy or hotdog... you know what i mean, usual human food,can they eat that when they get older like 6months or so, ofc and dog food regularry in between that, like 1st meal dog food 2nd meal human food and 3rd dog food

Salami and hot dog will give them pancreatitis so not a good idea. My first staffy loved bread with peanut butter.

Chicken no skin brown rice peas carrots and string beans and an apple mixed with kibble ,dry dog food I use call of the wild lamb

I have a staffy and i agree with all points except they are useless as a guard dog… when your staffy likes you he protects you from all what is danger for you and a staffy now when the danger come… sorry for my englisch im from germany 😅

Be ready fir their energy they want to play or just be with you or on top of you,a female is easier and more happy lying around house on they get a good 40 min rin a day 1

Depending on character of dog. They are good protection dog for apartment, but they need your time and good exercise. Every dog can be good dog, just some have more energy than others. And people are lazy as f. Staffy will connect with you on emotional level and reflect ownership. People should fist go to dog trainer to learn some basics on owning a dog.

Nonsense these are dogs that enjoy anything with their families, so if they are energetic the dog will keep up and if they are couch potatoes they will also adopt that behaviour

try keeping them before you talk shit Frank ....i admit some can be very dog aggressive but i have never ever met a staff that didnt love humans ,and every dog i ever got bit or charged by as a kid was never a staffie ,always a bored collie or a little chihuahua type with an attitude problem

A pure English or American Staffie is less likely to harm a human than so many other breeds. Like with most dogs, there are careless and wreckless breeders out there who will mix with less predictable and social breeds and that plus undesirable environmental factors contribute to unwanted behaviour. Staffies are purely guilty of having strength but their brains are wired to be subservient, loyal and nurturing towards humans. A lot of dog attacks on children are from smaller Terriers, even Dachshunds and other traditionally working breeds. Staffies make excellent family pets.
