Glad it was helpful! I agree that intonation plays an important role in conversation! By the way, the vacation sentences are just examples. We are going camping this summer, but we are not taking the vacation that I mentioned in the video 😊.

Hey, Jenna! How's it going? I hope all is well with you and your family. Since intonation is one of the most important elements to master when learning a language, I found your explanations alongside with practical examples extremely useful. Thanks so much for another great video! I really hope you make the most of your summer vacation with family and loved ones, which is just around the corner - Yay! As always, please stay safe and stay well. Warm regards from your pal of a cloudy and chilly São Paulo, Brazil! 😊

We are doing well, thank you! It's funny how we always have opposite weather in our two places. While it's getting chilly there, it's getting hotter by the day here! About 35C (90s F) these days here in California 😊 Have a nice weekend, Rodrigo! Thanks for stopping by!

Liked it. Sometimes I hear American native speakers, in a statement sentence, their intonation goes very high at the end of the sentence as if they are going to say more but they stop there. An exemple I noticed a lot on AGT and mostly with kids, when the Juge asks the performer on stage "who did come with today ?" and the performer would answer "my mom, my dad" and "dad" goes very high as if they are adding someone else but they stop short, it sounds very wierd to me, is it a normal thing or a ponctuation mistake.

Yes, that is the one rule that I did not mention in the video. We use rising or flat intonation at the end of a sentence or thought group to indicate that we're not done speaking. Sometimes we do that just because we pause, other times to think. I think those kids on that show do that because they are nervous or because they are thinking while they are speaking, so they don't use falling intonation to indicate that the thought is finished. Also, that is more common among children. I don't know why. Thanks for sharing that example! That's good that you can recognize the intonation patterns being used by native speakers!

What about intonation in complex sentences with if

Good question! Same intonation as in a sentence with the voice going down, but the voice will stay flat or go up a little bit in between the clauses. For example: If I have time, I'll go there. The voice goes up a little or stays flat on "time" because it's the end of the clause, and then the voice goes down on "there" because it's the end of the sentence.
