Long-distance relationships are extremely common. An estimated 75% of college students will be in a long-distance relationship at some point during university. While some long-distance relationships start out that way when couples meet online, this video focuses on the transition from close-distance to long-distance relationships. That being said, the last three stages apply to any type of long-distance relationship. So, here are 7 stages in a long-distance relationship.

If you’re feeling doubtful, here are some pros of LDR: 1. You learn to really cherish moments together because they are rare - every time you see each other feels like a vacation 2. You get to focus on yourself and build up your life knowing you have their support whereas it can be easy to get lost in a traditional relationship and lose sight of your life separate from theirs 3. You learn to communicate really well because sometimes communication is all you have when you’re apart

This is actually super true. My bf and I go to different colleges so we’re pretty far apart. Anytime I get to see him I will not leave his sides and there’s always so much to catch up on, and I’ve built up my joke repertoire so I can make him laugh. Communication was really important for us, we used to call everyday, and now we do date nights once a week (virtually). I had really bad jealousy problems when I was with really bad roomies that were bullying me and he and his friends kept posting pictures of them having fun. Yet once I actually focused on myself and stayed busy and got a life? I felt a lot happier. We support each other in everything and it really is rewarding. But at least we both move back home in the summer so I can annoy him in person :)

A long distance relationship is super hard to maintain, but if you do manage and ultimately find a way to live together, it’s the best test that any couple can go through. We started dating long distance with my boyfriend, it was hard for months, but when he finally could move to my country (France) we were SO IN LOVE and knowing each other SO MUCH for having spent countless hours on the phone talking… that nothing could break us apart. Now we’ve been happily living together for more than 3 years and I still love him more than I ever loved anybody, and feel loved the same way ❤️ Sending force and courage to every couple going through that hard trial, believe me… it’s worth it ❤️ Edit: 6 years together tomorrow, and counting ❤️ hold on to your special someone everyone!

Funny how i overcame my long distance realtionship challenges. We were about to breakup. Both of us held grudges. But then i accidently found this couple quiz game. I think its called lovify. Its a 2 round game, first you answer then your partner has to guess. Got to know my partner well. Maybe sometimes we are just finding reasons to break it and not to save it. All LDR couples, trust me when you finally get to meet, Its gonna be awesome :)

Me and my boyfriend met online about almost 2 years ago. We lived on different continents so we never thought dating was an option. We were like best friends and talked all day. A year later we decided we want to be together despite the distance. Although it’s been hard, we made it work. I think it was a good thing because we fell in love with each other before we even entered a physical relationship. I moved to the same continent 3 months later for college. We were still in different countries but same time zone and it wasn’t as far. It’s been almost a year of us dating. Next month he’s flying here to meet me for the first time. If you really want it, great things can happen :))

Me and my girlfriend have been in a long distance relationship for going on 4 months and we've been through all these stages but we keep choosing each other over and over again like the video said. Its tough but we both are working towards living together in the future at some point. We both fell in love without ever seeing each other in person which most people probably think is impossible but I'm here to tell you its not and it can work if both people are committed 100% 100% of the time Update: It’ll be 6months on Dec. 13th and still going strong. Still haven’t met in person due to COVID but we’re planning on buying her a plane ticket cause she’s from Canada and they’re allowed to fly to the US and then we’ll move in an apartment together by Jan 2021 ... We’ve talked about marriage and kids and the whole nine. We’re very much still in love and wanting to be together. Still talk everyday/night and still have an argument about something stupid every now and then 😂

I met my girlfriend through the internet back last year. We dated for 6 weeks until she decided that she couldn't do this long distance relationship thing. We started dating again back in January and I can tell a lot of stories about it. But the thing that makes our relationship so special is how proud we can be of each other if we genuinely reach a point in the future where we can wake up next to each other every morning one day. I've already visited her twice. And I'm going again in October and she is coming over in December for christmas. If you, who is reading this right now, are in a long distance relationship, then always think of how proud you can be of yourselves for committing to such a thing that requires lots of determination.

I'm in a long distance relationship with the man of my dreams. At first it was extremely difficult for both of us because we didn't really know how to communicate well to each other but we figured it out. We always spoke on the phone whenever we had free time, tell each other about our days, talk about any doubts we had and reassured each other. Another thing that surprisingly helped was getting each other small gifts so the other person knows you're thinking of them or even sending letters! We would also visit each other once or twice a year if we could. Now we're both getting married and I feel like our relationship couldn't be stronger. Long distance relationships teach you to be vulnerable with each other and give that extra attention

This video hits different when you're actually facing this right now. Update: Hey everyone, first of all, I would thank you so much for all the support you gave towards me and each other in the comments. I was hesitant at first to give some updates about it, but I figured this would help you guys who had the same experience like me. After being in a LDR for almost two years, I finally had the chance to met him two months ago, until today. It wasn't easy for us to reach this point together, but we were quite happy that we finally beat the distance together. For you guys that are in a LDR right now, it might be hard and crazy, especially when it's full of uncertainty of when you guys will meet each other again. But believe me, you and your partner are both strong enough to do it. Distance might not be easy, but always know that distance is what makes us stronger and grow both as an individual and a partner. For you guys who didn't make it, I'm so sorry. It must've been hard to deal with all that especially in the middle of the pandemic itself. But know that there are wonderful things waiting for you ahead. You're strong enough to get over that and move on. That said, thank you so much for reading until this point, and I hope you guys have a wonderful day.

Me and my current girl have known each other for going on 9 years now. For 8 of them we had not EVEN seen each other in person. After going through my share of relationships I had tried LD relationship before but nothing has compared to this!! That feeling of being in person, weather its different cities, different states (my case) or even different Countries!! Seeing your beautiful and loving significant other is one of the best feelings I have ever experienced. After all the time of listening to her voice and imagining how'd it feel to hold her in my arms I finally got the chance. That bus ride to her took FOREVER!! Now though, 9 years in the making, we will be finally be residents of the same state! (may sound corny but so what ;)). No more of "how is the weather there?" "I wish you were here..." or "you should have seen what happened!!" To all who took this approach to love I salute you because just as I've experienced, when you are truly in love distance is just a state of mind.

I recently found myself in a long distance relationship. In a way, this video was comforting to see that what I am feeling can be felt by many others in LD relationships. My boyfriend and I have been together for about four months now and we have definitely went through our ups and downs. We met in person last month and it was honestly the best two days I could have asked for. But as an overthinker, I tend to get in my head when something feels off or when we get into small arguments. I am afraid i developed codependency being in our relationship and it makes me scared. I just wish I could stop overthinking and feeling this pain in my chest :( This is my first relationship and everything feels so new and overwhelming sometimes.

Hey there, Your fears and insecurities are very normal and honestly very relatable too. This is my first relationship too and that is a long distance. I faced the same issues, fear of codependency, losing him and us.. It's a scary feeling. That person is your home, and suddenly it's not. That feeling is terrible indeed, especially in LDR! Where you are living your parallel lives in different time zones. Jealousy, insecurity, uncertainty is at peak People often ask me, is LDR tough? Well, of course it is! But the question here is.. Is it worth it? Is it worth facing all those tough times? And if the answer comes soo obvious to you, then take that call and be responsible for it no matter how hard it's gonna get! Be there, consistently, patiently, face and tackle all the hurdles together, when the answer is yes, 'it's worth it!' Just hang in there buddy! Your love will find a way ❤

who else here gets triggered when your friends say, "actually you've been PHYSICALLY TOGETHER xxx many days" ... dude. we are together, talking, laughing, debating, learning about each other, every day, for hours. are you even doing the same with your partner whose "physically" there? love and support can be felt though thousands of miles. reaching inner peace and confidence in your partner and your relationship, feeling that validation, and choosing each other over and over again even though its "inconvenient". every. day. counts.

One of our biggest challenges was during a time when she began feeling unsure about our future and despite these doubts, which I had at times as well, we talked about it and worked through it. I'm saving up money to visit her before the next academic year and we're planning on going camping!

The line about jealousy hit hard, especially because a general routine is important to me and on the (albeit rare) occasion they spend a weekend or longer with friends, I get slammed with a mix of jealousy and anxiety, an end up realizing how important they are in my little routine, which always makes me feel awful because I haven’t had to deal with jealousy a lot. Nonetheless we’ve been properly in a relationship for 5 months and best friends for 3 1/2 years!

While this can be very true, sometimes relationships (especially ldrs) can last for way longer than they need to. Just because you last for years does not mean it is set in stone. As a relationship can go very well, but last a very short amount of time for long distance reasons it is always up to the people to 1. decide which path to take, though that doesn't mean they "failed the test of love". It's just important to communicate no matter how long or short the distance and no matter how long or short the relationship.

Thing is love we share with humans is fake. Unless its your kid pifft. Love is just a chemical reaction. That typically lasts about 6 to 12 years varys P2P which is roughly the time it takes to raise a child. OTOH True love imo is that you show your dog. I care about my dogs far more then any of my relatives. And while i love my gal id have to pick my dog if it came down to it. Dogs dont cheat yo. Unless its for dem snacks

Currently in a LDR! I never thought it was going to be so hard. Because we both supported each other emotionally and physically. I have felt all of these stages and I can say it’s worth it when the two of you stay committed to each other regardless of the distance. To those of you starting out on this journey, don’t let the break up rates and statistics discourage you. Communicate with your partner, trust them and you stay committed on your part. Spice up your relationship too, dates night, movies or even read something etc., it’ll make your bond stronger and make you fall in love all over again! Sending you all my love!!!❤❤❤❤❤

She’s the loml and I won’t let others tell me otherwise. I love you Ari ☹️💗 Edit: We broke up 💀 Yes I know a very unfortunate turn of events. She’s still my best friend. 4 years was a long time and I’m still healing but I’m getting better now. We don’t talk anymore sadly and I miss her but I think it was for the best. I did love her very much and I still do. I wasn’t the best girlfriend but I made sure I loved, cared for her and protected her in the best way I could. For the others out there in long distance relationships, don’t give up and don’t let others tell you that it isn’t real love. It is real love and it’s a special kind of love. Yes. I’ve been in a few. One of them didn’t work out because I already knew I didn’t want to live a life with her. Another one ended because I was afraid of what it took to be with someone from another country, and my current one, there’s a severe lack of communication and understanding of the other persons emotions. The part where you spoke of setting boundaries, and I believe something about checking in with each other. Those two things are whats lacking in mine, and the cause of my doubt. It’s indeed important af to have that.

My parents had an 8 year long distance relationship in their 30s between Berlin and San Francisco. Eventually my mom moved to the US and they got married at 40 and had me at 43. They're in their mid 70s now and still married. This was in the 80s, without internet and with very expensive phone calls. They'd visit each other twice a year for a few weeks and otherwise send each other snail mail letters. It's definitely possible, stay in there whoever needs to read this!

I felt so relieved that jealousy is totally normal and common in this type of relationship because I face it a lot. And I felt really bad because I thought I need to be happy that he’s happy but it’s just so difficult when you’re not having as much fun :/

Communication is what will make or break the relationship. You’re phone is your best friend. If you’re not a good communicator I would not recommend LDR. Been in an LDR since COVID shut down my state in March 2020 and I moved 14 hrs away later that year, so almost two years. We’ve got at least four more years until being together in person is feasible. While being apart makes me feel unsure and alone sometimes, I wouldn’t trade us for anything. The time we have together is so rewarding and reassuring, and even though I sometimes find myself doubting while I’m away, I always come back to him and we take that opportunity to grow as a couple every time. It takes trust and understanding, and can no doubt be high maintenance, but if a couple of teenagers can do it, so can any one of you. Don’t give up because of your own insecurities, and the most important advice I can give is to be open with your partner.

Well its different in my case...i was the one working..well i was a student 2nd yr of degree it was during covid when i met her, we both got close to eachother, fell for eachother she wanted to meet and we had some future plans together like marry travel and made lot promises "infact she used to say that i never leave her" , we used to be on calls, video calls for 24 hrs literally gave alot time to her we were there for eachother she did the same she helped me alot mentally and emotionally we literally talked abt everything, i also used to tell her that "there will be people and times that won't be in our favour and i want you to stay strong and trust me coz i won't leave you" tbh i really wanted to take care of her look after her uno... but yeah covid got over, i was in my final year i had to work hard clear my exams.. focus on to do something so that i can get to her and meet and work on our plans and dream...well didn't get enough quality time as i used to with her b4, tho i would update what im upto and ofcourse ask abt her health made calls during nights make her laugh feel loved and do as much as i can... yeah sometimes i would feel low too she never was trying to help or understand me, she was possesive or attention grabber in which i wasn't able to pay attention to her at those days , but yeah i had hope & it was her...and she got fed up said i dont give enough time to her i wasn't there much as i used , i don't make her feel loved, she cutted herself (ik she was lying) says i used her 😂🤚🏻(like frl & how), she wants to breakup, even tho i explained her and she knows what i was going through like it was strange to see her change all of a sudden , she asked for space alot of things ik of her were just changed but anyways i tried not to contact her but failed kept messaging her calling her begged her to come back i was worried abt her, she said we broke up (from her side and i didn't even agree and i told her)...but yeah i found out she was talking to some other dude, just coz he spent more time with her and i was working hard for her for us...and shattered the hell out of me, no trust , no loyalty, disbelief heartbroken crying, all the promises.. she started say "our relationship was shit", "he is a better man than you" and even tho i satisfy her, i started to Shake lot of grief and i am still going through it ..and as soon as we officially broke up the hour she went to this new dude... we were together for almost 3 years....we were in LDR was going to meet her this month Dec 2022 but 2 days b4 booking the flight this happend... and yeah she in LDR too with her new partner....it was love not a casual realtionship she knew it but she still went to him, sometimes i can't accept the fact that she is gone, i miss her, i immensely loved her alot....im really low and help?

Love meant to be last but we need two to make the love lasts . And sometimes, it sad but it's true we do have to let go when we already try everything we can but it just can't works anymore. And sometimes it's also when we realised our partners stop and don't want to paddling anymore. I believe everyone that view relationships seriously knows that it's not just about " I want to be the receiver" but it's when both parties giving and taking, to create a healthy and balance relationship. The stereotype of its always the man that have to gives and care for women is not it. But I know a nice person like you deserve to be happy! And happiness can be found in many things too. Like doing things that'll make you happy and make yourself busy with things,etc. As time goes by you'll find yourself completely moving on and even stronger than before. You have to, and I believe one day when the time comes they'll be someone out there somewhere, that'll treasure and loves you the way you do! So it's okay to being sad but please be strong for yourself! But hey you are amazing because I can tell you are amazing! Haha😁

My boyfriend started out long distance too and still are, because he’s active military, but I feel like he and I have a strong bond that will carry us through to being in a close distance relationship inevitably. It helps to have laid out plans for the future, like times when we get to visit each other in person. It gives us something to look forward to. There was no initial separation because we started out this way and chose to make it work from the very beginning ❤️ in just a year’s time I’ll be moving an hour away from him and he has the option to move off base and we can get an apartment together 🥰

This video really opened my eyes: I’m currently in a LDR and in stage 5 and 6 interchangeably. I’m really glad that it’s not just me who’s an emotional wreck and that it’s just the situation that’s rough. He’s currently making new friends as he just moved to Scotland (closer to me by a lot now but I live in England), and I haven’t seen him had so much fun going outside before. This was obviously a massive change and I’ve realised I need to just accept it and trust the process. I really want to overcome this because I know our relationship will be stronger than ever, but I do have to be patient. Here’s to happy, healthy and strong LDRs that last forever

PLEASE UPDATE ME!
@ball_gargler
@ball_gargler 11 ай бұрын
@@lovermorales5091 I complete forgot about making this comment, but I’m more than happy to give an update. It has been around 8 months later, and things are a lot better. He realised that the friends he made in Scotland weren’t that genuine, so he’s stopped talking to most of them apart from a few (who were the ones I thought were genuine anyway so I fully trust his judgement). Through this process, I found that I was only really jealous of the fun he would have with his friends because subconsciously, I didn’t trust them and knew he could do better, but now that the friends he does hang out with are ones I find trustworthy, I don’t feel at all envious of them. But that’s not to say you should tell your partner to stop hanging out with their friends because you don’t like them. If your judgement is similar to one another’s and they’re mature, they will realise at some point, but you just have to be patient. I think our relationship now is a lot stronger, and we don’t have as many major issues anymore. I was lucky enough to also travel to Scotland to see him for nearly two weeks, where we celebrated our 1 year together. It was the best two weeks of my life. So be patient, and to make a relationship stronger, you have to work through problems together. But obviously, still have some sense to you. If they’re constantly not working with you on the relationship, that’s a major problem.

I'm in a LDR between Germany and Japan for almost a year now. I was planning to go to Japan in summer but most likely the travel ban won't be lifted. T.T Here are some things I've learned: - trust is really important and you should open up to eachother, open up yourself first, if the other person is not someone who does it often - just tell about your worries and what bothers you without accusing eachother - staying positive is the most important thing - be there for eachother/support eachother, if its just a virtual hug before an exam :) - call frequently and create time for eachother, it still makes you feel close - it doesnt matter if you are talking or not, its also great to do nothing together while being on videocall or zoom, at least this way you feel kinda close - maybe you can watch series together, play video games, take videos for YT or just listen to music - just do something together you both enjoy, so that you can relax and take it easy :) - don't loose hope and keep trying to make plans to meet - talk about the dreams you have together One more thing when you start doubting: it helped me to see it as test for the relationship. If it doesn't work its also okay, then it was not supposed to be. But if you keep dreaming of a future together then its proof your relationship is strong and its worth doing your best to keep it. I hope this helps someone :) I wish everyone all the best!

I am in a long distance relationship since july 2020. My advice is to communicate often, our boundaries are text throughout the day and talk before bed and it works great. Have been doing LDR for over 4 years. My partner and I were in the same class from grade 2 until my parents moved abroad after grade 8. We already liked each other but made things official after I moved. Ever since, we’ve only been getting stronger as more time goes, as we work in the same capacity towards a united goal. We work on ourselves for each other when we need to, and communicate about every issue no matter how little it may seem. Most importantly we never stopped prioritising each other and making each other laugh until our cheeks hurt everyday. Consistency is very important. We never stopped going above and beyond for each other like we did in the initial stages. As we are both anxious people, we always reassure each other about everything and I believe that is essential for a healthy relationship. We focus on the pros of LDR rather than the cons.

I'm (19) from India and she's (17) from Philippines. Now my mentality is that she's too far from me and we'll never be able to get together as we want. So i tried distancing myself from her for her sake because she'll suffer like this longing for me while we never meet. This made her get mad at me and she's now hurt on the fact that I'll leave her and get together with someone else. She feels heartbroken. What should I do in this scenario ? It's like the first time in something like this so idk much.

I’ve been in a long distance relationship for about 7 months. It’s honestly been pretty strong and stable as we met during our darkest times. We met online and instantly got close as we began to play games with each other. Now she is in college and honestly we had our thoughts and hoped that the option would never happen due to us being limited by our time and my job. Now it’s is like a miracle is happening, I’m getting a promotion meaning I work day shifts and will have more time to talk to her. To anyone here reading this comment, the best way to stay close to your partner and keep that strong connection is to be there for them. Support them and show them that you love them.

I entered a long distance relationship in a different manner. I was introduced to my hair stylist’s sister-in-law’s sister who was living overseas in Vietnam. This was in November. She didn’t have internet, so we wrote a few letters back and forth. I decided to visit her. This was in April. After I landed and met her for the first time at the airport on a Wednesday night, I had about 6 days to settle whether to marry her or not, who wants a long distance relationship to just drag on? I decided by Saturday morning, but told her on Sunday. No need to rush things. After the proposal, I flew back to Canada and mailed her a few thousand dollars to get the wedding preparations done. We were married in September, and she flew here in May of the following year once the immigration paperwork was processed. In hindsight, I might have naively rushed things. haha BTW, we’re still happily married 14 years later.

My friend I was with went over to get him and brought him back to meet me. I told him that night that I knew we were going to get married one day and have children. He laughed. We danced and talked all night then we went to breakfast. The next day we went on a day and we were never again apart.

I'm here after having years of experience in LDR and i can say it's pretty addictive when you get creative about trying something new together everytime u could call / video call / play / watch things together / talk limitless about everything u could literally share ur life together except the physical existence you just have to endure this fact and live with it till u make it reachable which would make the relationship reach a whole new level . However you have to be careful of failing the other side down by quiting after he/she trusted u so bad that he was trying to do anything for it to survive doesn't matter what happens just don't quit u will regret it and you wouldn't be able to get into any other relationship for so long since u gave so much energy in the last one

I've known my girlfriend for nearly 11 years and have been together for roughly 9 years ( with some breaks in between ). We started online and have met a total of 4 times, but with the 4th time, I had moved over to her side for half a year, however due to circumstances we're apart again, but on the bright side we're currently working to get a home for ourselves so we'll be able to be together proper and end the long wait once and for all! We're dead set and serious and we'll get our future together. LDR is definitely possible. Very, very difficult, but possible. Good luck and a wonderful day for you all!

Awww so cute you two! I know its gonna work out I aspire to have what you have. Personally me and my girlfriend have known each other for 10 years since we were childhood friends, unfortunately we moved states but because of my parents divorce my dad still lived there, for years after I moved I couldn't find her but then I remembered where her grandmothers house was and over the summers with a long distance friendship in between we started to catch up when this year I decided to move back to my hometown we shortly started dating after I announced it to her and we started long distance until I went for the summer as usual currently I am not in my hometown because I need to pack and carry stuff over to my fathers house so we are back at it in long distance but I return this weekend and i'm very excited

I am in a relationship where not even a month into it we found out he has to move because he’s in a military family. Considering this is my first relationship and it’s going extremely well we figured we can make this long distance thing work. I have been really stressing about this lately and when I found this video it brought me a level of comfort that will definitely make the transition easier. I’m hoping all of those who came here to look for advice in sustaining a LDR will have the comfort knowing that everything happens for a reason and if it’s meant to be then it’s meant to be.

Someone: "Cries because they can't see their partner once a week." Me: "Pathetic. " Now I am in my first ever relationship, and it is long distance. Here are some things that I have learned. 1)It is important to manage your time at school or work, so that you can have enough time for them. 2)Playing videogames together is amazing. I only bought GTA V bc my bf plays it and I am happy that I did so. I spend my whole birthday evening and night with him.

I met my girlfriend on Snapchat this past February. It was so unexpected because nobody ever inboxes me on there when I add them lol, so we started talking on Facebook messenger to better communicate and surprisingly we clicked. She's from Liberia which is in west Africa and I'm from the USA (Chicago). We been together for 8 months now and we're waiting to see each other. We've had our bad days with disagreements, people's criticism and the circumstances but we still overcame it all. I'm planning on seeing her in February 2021 after a whole year of planning this trip so we're praying on it and we're really excited. I never ever met a woman like her in my life. She makes me happy.

I've recently entered an LDR with a girl over snapchat too. We've been talking/flirting for just over a week almost any time we could, and on boxing day when she was feeling sad we talked all day, but when I was talking about what we could do on our date that night, when lockdown is over, she got freaked out. For the past few days she seems to have detached almost completely and isn't putting effort in when I try to create conversation/banter with her. I feel a lot of heartache and worry about the relationship. Do you have any advice on how to continue it? Seems weird because it's the strongest connection I've ever felt with anyone and seems to have changed so suddenly.
@Professor_James
@Professor_James 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheSm1thers Well communication is definitely one of the strongest foundations in a relationship, especially long distance so it's highly recommended she contributes that same amount of energy you are putting in as well. It shows you that she's also staying committed to reaching out. When you mentioned "freaking out" maybe she's fearful about something and can't really tell you. Again, she has to communicate that with you💯. If she's really isolated herself from you, it sounds to me that she's breaking away from you. I understand you feel good about her and you don't want to get disappointed, but if she's not even trying to talk to you then you have to save yourself from deeper pain and disappointment by ending it. U don't want to put too much into something that somebody is not even considering so be cautious of that. I been through quite a few long distance relationships to realize when the right one was coming. Hope this helps and best of luck💪

@@Professor_James Thank you very much for your response. I appreciate it. We have talked about it yesterday and she said although the connection was amazing she got scared that it was moving too fast and now she doesn't know how she feels. I asked if she wanted to call and talk about it cos it's difficult to properly understand each other through messaging. She said she had no idea when she'll be available but I think it's bullshit cos even the busiest person can make time for a phone call at some point. We haven't communicated at all today and I'm starting to move on. I think she might just not be ready for a relationship, especially a long distance one, which is a shame cos she was so open to me and I felt I could share anything with her too until she freaked out. If she's not putting in the effort anymore though I suppose there's no point in continuing. Thanks again for your response 🤜

LDR is definitely not for every couple. It really depends on both's love languages, preferences, and willingness to commit. I didnt event think of entering a long distance relationship but my boyfriend works on a cruise for at least 8 months and goes home only for 2 months. He just left a few days ago for his job and I got used to it already. It really is hard in the beginning but it takes two to learn how to manage and maintain the relationship. :) I miss him, though. UPDATE: my boyfriend is going home in January 2022 😊 and yeah, I am well aware of the adultery and cheating that are happening amongst cruise employees. My bf tells me stories haha. I only hold on to trust, that he wont betray me. Likewise, I dont break his trust. It goes bothways. Hell, I am only his long term GF haha he better not play with me. So far, we haven't had any issues with any of his colleagues/girl co-workers. We are already past 4 years so that trust has been built through time. 💗

Currently in a long-distance relationship. It's been a year and a half now without seeing each other. One in Asia and one in LA. This video helps a lot. Everyone's comments help a lot too as I don't feel so alone on this. My boyfriend and I have definitely been through stages 1-6. We might hit stage 6 on and off at different times. We have been continuously choosing each other. Now he's in stage 6, and I have to admit that I didn't handle it well when he was open and honest about his feeling of doubt. I wasn't there to listen and support him like he was for me. I only got emotional, which made it worse. He asks for some time to think through. It's been a week now, and he ask to talk next week since he's been busy with work this week. I have been messaging him about my willingness to continue. It's just been hard not knowing what he will decide. Of course, I don't want to pressure him to continue. These past days, I was able to "step back and re-evaluate our relationship" like what this video said. I just pray that he is able to also do the same and that we choose each other again.

My husband went to college out of state. I was so lonesome and felt neglected and worried that he would find someone else. He felt pressured and mistakenly thought that I wanted him to quit. He moved back home and we got married and he transferred to a local school. He finished school with honors but without accumulating any debt since I continued to work. We’ve been married for 50 years.

I've been dating my boyfriend for about 4 years and about two years was spent in a long-distance relationship. I technically also have an LDR during school breaks when I have to go back home. It's always a hard thing to do, to depart with him and not be able to see him for such a long time. But one pro is that it builds up the excitement and mystery of being physically together again. There's been many times I've felt sick out of excitement because I also get super nervous to see him again. It is also a great way to prove and improve your trust in each other. The feeling that you'll always feel the same excitement to see each other again and not have a shadow of a doubt that they'll still love you or not having a single absence of affection. It's a hard commitment that is very rewarding in the end.

What we also learn is to be happy for ourselves, even when we are not physical together, but always communicate clearly when things goes bumpy. At the end, it is very worth it... because we are now happily married for 5 years :).

I'm currently in a long distance relationship. Funny enough, we're still friends but he's closer then anyone I've been with. I spend hours on discord telling him secrets and things I've never expressed with anyone else. I've gone through two relationships during the years I've known him, and it always pushes me closer and closer to him. Think I'm gonna finally tell him how I feel about our relationship when I finally see him. I kinda jumped the gun and asked him out and he said that we haven't even seen each other irl yet and we should take it one step at a time. It didn't ruin things though, thank god.

I had a similar experience, I talk a lot with my partner on Discord. I met my current ldr partner online about 4 years ago, though it was here on youtube. We've talked on Discord a lot. When I first met him, I was in denial of my feelings because I wasn't open to the idea of trying a LDR. I had one crush about 3 years ago in person to try to see if that would take my mind off of him but it didn't, in fact I felt closer to him than I did with the guy I tried to pursue in person. I told THAT guy how I felt, and he rejected me, but it didn't really hurt that much. That was in 2017. Fast forward a bit and at the end of the year of 2017, I couldn't hold back and confessed my feelings to my ldr partner on Discord :"). He accepted my feelings on a whim, so the relationship was unsteady for a while after that. Fast forward to 2018 and I met another guy, this time online who moderates a KZfaqr's server and I started developing a crush on him because I was having doubts about my ldr partner at the time. Though that crush faded away quickly within a few months like the last guy (in person), though i never developed strong enough feelings to want to voice them. So I just stopped talking to that moderator. My ldr partner was too busy to organize video calls during times where we would both be awake and available to talk, but he wasn't communicating very well with me and then I REALLY started having doubts, but then I finally met him in December 2019 for the first time. It was an awkward first date and he wanted to leave things open but I wanted to commit to a more serious relationship. He didn't start getting serious until the beginning of 2020. I think as long as the both of us have hope, things will work out in the future.

When I started a long distance relationship I didn't truly know what I was getting into but my long distance relationship taught me: Communication: Expressing yourself and what bothers you is NOT a bad thing. With the right partner, they will acknowledge and validate your concerns. They will do anything to reassure you in the relationship. Cherishing your Partner: Due to the limited time we have together, we are less likely to be bothered by the petty insignificant things Trust: We trust each other 100% We choose each other everytime!!
