In my country (Philippines), I'm still surprised that Tribal streetwear is still around even though I don't see anyone other than local Filipino bands wearing them just to be relevant. The brand for me was cool back then when bands like KoRn and P.O.D. were wearing them and it inspired me to wear their brand but years later (or I should say decades later) when the brand got oversaturated and anyone including their mothers can buy them easily just ruined it for me because every mall had Tribal including outlet malls. Zoo York too since I see them and Tribal on outlet malls or discounted shops alongside FUBU. You can even add C.K. and Nautica which fell hard but at least Tommy got a second breath of life atm.

I remember all the 90's/00's brands that everyone was rocking back then and looking back on it now, it seems like they just all abruptly fell off together. I think because they were all pretty similar in their offerings, at least over here in Australia. They just stuck to super baggy stuff and billboard sized logos lol. When trends changed to a more minimalist style they didn't evolve. Off the top of my head I recall Mecca, Sean Jean, Triple Five Soul, Cross Colours, Wuwear, South Pole, Damani Dada, Freshjive, Enyce, Phat Farm, Helly Hanson, Starter, Kani, Ruff Ryders, Wesc, Zoo York, Mooks, FUCT, Etnies, Avirex. Some of the luxury designer labels that were somewhat street or adopted as street of course stayed relevant such as Polo, Tommy and Guess.

He's also being completely idiotic about how he's singling out Von Dutch. Adidas, Puma, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hugo Boss, Porsche, Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes, etc were all Nazis in Germany and Vichy France in the 1930s and 1940s. Lamborghini, Maserati, Ferrari, Alfa Romero, Kappa, Gucci, Valentino were all Italian Fascists. You know, the movement that inspired Hitler and went on to be his ally. So either boycott them all or accept them all, but singling-out someone makes one a hypocrite.

Hugo Boss tailored the nazis in ww2 Have a pop at them
@THECASUALco
@THECASUALco Жыл бұрын
For anybody who studies history we know Hugo Boss designed the uniforms of Heydrich Himmler's SS specifically but, respectfully, that is not what this is about. It's specifically about a brand, in modern times no less, that had several controversies that hurt the business. One of them being that the original creator of Von Dutch MAY HAVE been a racist. I honestly don't care either way. I wear neither Von Dutch nor Hugo Boss. My ONLY job is to present facts about the topic at hand. Hugo Boss had no place on this list SO, no Hugo Boss. Had Hugo Boss been on this list it certainly would have been mentioned because THAT is a part of its history. Now if you want an episode on "brands with shady pasts" SURE! Our team can cook up something and we'll definitely consider Hugo Boss. But to be perfectly honest, when we put the racist thing in the script we knew it would stir a hornets nest of individuals that get sensitive about those topics. And I hate going down that rabbit hole because people tend to jump the gun particularly when brown faces are involved. But to be clear we're not petty race baiters. We just state information that may be pertinent to the convo. That's it.

Well, another reason why many black-owned street & rap clothing brands died because of their owners who didn't wear their brand 24/7. If a lot of rappers had believed in their brands being better than the popular luxury fashion houses, a lot of their followers would have still bought their products. Truthfully, Sean John was ahead of its time, but Diddy kept wearing other brands though.

They tried to bring it back in like 2015, but it never caught on. However the “Paper Planes” fitted was becoming increasingly popular. At one point, it was almost exclusive like the Roc chain, but now you can find it anywhere. They have expanded on their apparel over the years. Jay’s friend Emory basically runs it, and they also have their ties to Puma.

Me either, unless I forgot. But it’s interesting because them giving Kanye their clothes set off a whole trend of leather and pleather clothing. From leather pocket and sleeves t shirts, to the leather knee and elbow patches on sweatsuits. Everyone wanted to look like WTT era Kanye and Good Music crew. With the ASAP Mob HBA and Blvck Scvle looks. As the trend faded out, you had cheap stores selling atrocious knockoffs that became known as “male thot” suits. So many hood uncles trying to be young popping up with these power ranger looking sweatsuits lol.
