You are right not to share... @Anna Bey i'm the one that was like sharing everything. Perhaps, im extrovert. im not toxic, people in my past manipulate, make me become toxic in people eyes, playing victims. But actually no. Im the one got blame. they know how to setting me down, hit me from my comfort zone, which things that im best from it. Better not to tell our plans true. Some who doesnt like to share elegant and rich people, i wish to share and they would too, i thought simply but they are not. Im sad ppl around manipulate me, when this happens i asked powerful, elegant, rich person dont help me in that time. No one help, i got isolation and make me burn out, procastinating, ruminance, etc.

We should use our words to edify others, not tear others down. Unkind things are better left unsaid. When you get out of the habit of saying negative things, it’s hard to go back because it feels so wrong. “You are so kind to…”. “How thoughtful of you to…”. “Anna, that color is lovely on you!’’ Etc…

It’s with getting older that I realized that there is no point over sharing with people… not everybody who smiles at you is your friend. Plus at this point I only have one friend left and even at that, I have my reserves

I totally agree with you and all things Anna mentioned in this video. Although I don’t have bigger circles of friends, but had few closer ones. But they showed me their true faces and love when I am facing some challenges in my life. I still couldn’t believe their behaviour, no matter what, how dare you can leave a friend when they are having difficulties?!so you never know what’s inside people. Therefore, simply don’t share things. Don’t expect anything from anyone, Keep your private life private, and just do your best each day! Best wishes to you all my hardworking, strong ladies!

I was getting lunch today with my bf in a very wealthy town. I couldn't find my mask in my bag. The young female cashier asked me to take one in a box, but I declined. Then I found my mask and put it on, but she gave me the evil eye. My bf started with her asking "Why are you staring at her like that?" I quickly said "She's looking at me eye makeup." And he said nothing more. While eating he said he was "going to give it to her, but stopped after I said what I did." I believe I was much more refined than my bf. Not sure if we have a future together. Red flags..

This is why it’s better to hire a therapist than to go around looking for someone to listen to you. I mean, I’d rather over share with a therapist (I know I’m safe) than with a friend -only God knows what they will do with what I tell them.

I disagree , therapists are for the mentally ill , but I do agree that anyone should never discuss and talk too much.(To all the replies , I am sorry in my country therapists are usually confused with psychiatriists , I apologise I couldn't remember much facts while typing this reply , I regret typing this , I am really sorry ).

I have learned a lot from people who shared about their plans, money, and personal life with me. It put me on the right track and gave me a different perspective on a lot of things. Otherwise, when things go wrong in your life, it feels like you are the only one who is failing, and everybody else has it perfect. But I agree that sharing information should be done selectively.

@Xcytd4DIYs Agree. And sometimes, when you share about something you plan to do, it gives you a rush and a feeling as if you had done it. The likelihood of you actually follow through your plan becomes lower.

It really depends who the information is shared with and for what reason. I definitely agree that we can learn a lot from others and get good advice, but there is sharing just to talk or brag, and sharing to get advice, specific insight, etc. A basic example: asking someone how much a (designer) handbag costs just out of nosiness or asking because you are interested to purchase you first designer bag and want to understand the price of different brands to make the best decision for an expensive purchase.

I move in silence ❤️ I don’t share my financial situation with anyone, it’s not useful, not everything about me should be available to all.. In short, Gossiping is pointless. I hate drama, try to avoid at all cost, it drains energy. Unwanted opinions are unnecessary. I Give/donate secretly, don’t even tell about that to family members because that’s pointless. The problem is: some people feel that their unwanted opinions really should be shared. Whether you ask for them or not:) They have no concept of the idea that: if I want your opinion I’ll ask for it. If I don’t ask. I’m not interested in what you think of me and what I’m doing. My reply is usually: Thanks for sharing. I’ll file that away for future reference if and when I have the time.

I had to get off social media because i felt constant pressure to post pictures and stories of what i was doing. Almost trying to compete with other peoples posts and life. But Ever since I’ve been off everything in my life has been going much better because there’s no outside involvement or pressure to compete. It Basically helped bring me back to focus on the present moment

Oof I feel you but I stopped oversharing and I basically treated my life as a privilege. Like, it's a privilege to know me and know what's up with me. Being secretive has become my safe haven.

I decided to post less on social media, but to post better quality content. For example, if I go on a trip/gateway, I will post a one or two of the best pictures (or videos) of the place with information that is useful for my friends/family/acquaintances. Like why I like this place or activity, a funny story that happened, etc. I stopped posting food pictures unless there is an interesting context (I made the meal myself, or I am with the chef 👨‍🍳 that cooked the meal, etc.)

Dear Anna unfortunately my silence about intimate matters was my own undoing. When I finally left him after 16 years nobody believed me because I had confided in nobody. I was embarrassed by situation wanted to protect his reputation and didn't think subject matter was appropriate to be shared but the silence hurt me at the end.

I do relate to this so much! I wanted to be loyal to my mariage and keep the troubles private. Then I could not stand being treated badly and it all exploeded... People around were shocked wnen I started telling them what is going on, some turned their back on me, my in-laws chose to live in denial, at first accusing me it is all my fault since I did not seek help earlier. So it is not so clear what to do, I wish I spoke about the troubles from the wery beginning... Really I wish I never met my husband

@@chilibandit6660 yeah. I agree. But I guess in the video she’s talking about when you’re just dating someone and haven’t decided if it will be serious yet. No need sharing the whole enchilada. Then you share again when on yo the next suited too? I don’t know. She seems to have to make up subject matter. Not to be taken too seriously. Don’t share too much with people whom you’re not sure have your very best interest at heart.

I can honestly say that as I get older, I realize that sharing relationship difficulties with friends is not a good idea because if they love you, they get defensive and assume he's in the wrong and treat it like he's hurting you without factoring in his side of the issue. If they don't love you, they wouldn't mind messing up your relationship. It's not fair to your partner to have a perspective that demonizes him and causes more problems for your relationship.

I do not necessarily agree because I think that a good friend, a true friend, will also tell you if you are wrong. I have 2 close friends that I know will call me out on my BS and be honest with me, even if I will not like hearing it - and with those friends I will do my best to listen and not get defensive because I trust them and know they love me like a sister and have my best interest at heart. In fact I think they are more likely to tell me when I am wrong, than to accuse my partner of being wrong, out of respect for not knowing him as well as they know me.

In fact I once had a ‘friend’ (who always had drama in her life) comment that I don’t talk much about my relationship and then only positively and superficially. I responded that of course no relationship is perfect, but I don’t see that necessity to air my dirty laundry in public, she got offended. Ha!

This. If u and ur partner go through something it’s you vs. your partner not you vs. your friend advice. You and ur partner should be the only people fixing and getting through the problem and situations you are going through. Not venting to ur friend that’s not going to fix the problem. Grown people should talk situations it out especially couples!

I talk about salaries with women within the same profession as myself. We women tend to be *extremely* underpaid compared to our male counterparts with identical qualifications in the corporate world, and therefore we have to be very aware of the level of our salaries. “Am I getting paid enough or should I ask for a raise?” This is easiest done by comparing. We women can help each other tremendously by having each other’s backs in male dominated fields 🌸

I believe it’s important to talk about salaries, not because you’re women but because you’re employees working for the same company. If you work harder and have more to offer than your teammate, it’s only reasonable you get paid more than them, regardless if your teammate is male or female.

I just came here to write something similar. Gender wage discrimination, and things like obscene CEO bonuses, nepotism, etc. will never stop unless salaries are transparent and people demand fairness. I also think it's imperative women are absolute forthright in their political opinions, especially for things related to their rights, such as bodily autonomy, persecution of women abusers, access to education and equal rights, etc. We are living in dangerous times in that these rights are being rolled back in several places and these are things on which women must absolutely take a stand, encourage their fellow women to stand for, and express publicly that they will not be silenced, shamed, victimized, or go backward. If women are too busy being "elegant" and worrying about making other people "uncomfortable," those in power will continue to take advantage and think women are too "passive" to actually care or take a stand.

Number 2 has an exception: always talk about salary with your coworkers, specially those who do the same as you. It's the best way to learn if wage gap is happening in your company and then fight it

Exactly. I learned that I was one of the few who negotiated a better starter pay. I sometimes think money is overvalued in some senses. I know people that have huge fights about money in the relationship. I never had that. I have always been open about my salary and debts with serious partners. Some people have unreasonable expectations. They want to pay 50/50 for tjings when thr man makes twice as much money. I think it should be 50% of income (or more) for shared expenses. If you live together and even have a kid together I think that is reasonable.

@@mrw301 If you are in the US, the National Labor Relations Act says an employer can not forbid employees, either verbally or through policy, from discussing salary information. Yes, it happens, but it's unlawful.

There secrecy act for that P&C..another thing salary increment different from others even you and your friend enter company at same time or your workers enter company also been offer salary by HR based on certain criteria..eg experiences,education level etc..when i want to do assesment salaryincrement for staff i privately call them..and review etc based on their result,capability,perfomance.i also warning staff when some one ask you related to it caution..cause it can create distatistiction and jealosy..if they really want to know i told my staff ask me directly😆i didnt like those licking and air cond type who like to fan boss even they not perform doing work.

Absolutely right! NEVER over-share your confidential and personal details with anyone. I learned it the hard way 😅 I used to over-share everything with a woman I called my 'best friend'. She ended up gossiping about me and spreading malicious rumors that sabotaged my engagement. Thankfully, I handled everything. So, ladies be very careful and don't over-share anything. Keep your relationship issues and goals private. However, if you have to share a problem and need help, don't just share with anyone & everyone for the sake of relieving your stress. Develop a problem solving approach, only share with someone who is in a position to practically solve your problem. 😊

I had an ex best friend that was mad because CPS took her kids….take a wild guess what she did to me? Yep! Not once but twice because I tried to be a good Christian and forgive and forget. I saw her in the grocery store I was so mad I was shaking. I cussed her out for everything she was worth. The messed up part is that it was because she lived in a condemned place that wasn’t safe. She knew I had nothing to do with it.

I wish I learned earlier in life that just because someone (except in certain circumstances, like to your doctor or something) asks you a question it does not mean you have to divulge any information at all. Also ladies, what I've learned, that if you do share your problems about your partner, there will be the one in the circle of your "friends" who will take advantage and see your pain as an opportunity ... I have seen 2 families fell apart because "friend" took an advantage. It is difficult to know with who we can share and sometimes it feels like dark and lonely place, therapist is the best solution., or even your pet you can talk to 🙂 if you haven't got that one trusted person

Thank you that I found you! When I was young, I adored elegance. But my environment did not support it. No, my mother was elegant and dressed me elegantly, but I got bullied and ridiculed by other children because of it. After the time, I tried to adopt and I lost myself. Now, when I found your videos I feel as if I have found myself again! I found ”my tribe”, as they say. Even I am much older than you, I am so grateful to find your videos and engouraged to get back my style and personality!

Love the quote! Thanks for sharing! I’ll keep reminding myself. I think keeping silent and never talking too much are qualities that make people alluring and create a mysterious vibe. I remember when I was in high school, I was a super shy and silent person! My classmates said I was the most quiet person in the class. The funny thing is I was one of the most popular girls out there :). A friend of mine said “she was the most silent girl, but very influential”. I believe silence had a lot to do with the popularity I got.

You’ve just mentioned in the past that English is not your first language. When saying “Discretion” the E should be pronounced “eh” the way it sounds in the word Egg. Otherwise it sounds very close to the word Secretion which is never a good thought 😂

i never never share a single detail about my marriage with others. i've learnt it from experience. i had this really close friend, and i was just discussing some things about my partners habits not aligning with mine and she just blew it up into a major issue and was almost telling me to walk away! like, wth, just a general talk becomes a fodder for people to give us their "advice" on, when none was asked! i'm very protective of my marriage and my husband, and i've learnt now to never talk anything with anyone about us!!

If it helps, you can remind yourself that the act of complaining actually causes you to re-experience the already negative aspects, whichever you are just reannoying yourself psychological. Which is not to say you shouldn't vent if you truly have an issue, but otherwise letting go is what is healthiest for you mentally too. 💛

Excellent advice! Creating a mystique encourages greater interest and curiosity. My mother used to say that classy people do not discuss money or their finances -- that is so "nouveau riche" and quite gauche. However, this may be quite acceptable if asking for advice, particularly if asking someone who is financially successful (people do enjoy giving advice). I've always been repelled and distrustful of women who are nosey or malicious gossips; likewise those who are braggarts or boastful. Drama queens are also a huge turnoff. On the issue of sharing "good deeds", I do approve of those who want to encourage others to participate in a charitable cause or to help others in need if they are able. Often, this is more appealing if inviting someone to join you in such a cause.

What an informative video. Love your advice. I couldn't agree more. It has happened to me. My mother is a dramatic intense person and can become very intrusive if we share personal issues or money related information. Some people say that Anna cannot teach about affluent life becuase she is not living one. But I think it's not always about experiencing something yourself first. She has definitley lived among affluent people, she observed their ways of thinking and doing things, she knows their mantras and some of their tools. And there is nothing wrong with teaching what she observed. In fact, I feel improvement in my dressing sense and etiquette after watching her videos. So yeah it's worth it.

I do think that discussing aspirations is fine if it applies to school, e.g. one's major or course of study at university to prepare for a certain career. And while growing up, I observed that my parents had rather different attitudes about money. They didn't spend it foolishly; neither were they frugal. But my father was (and is) much more discreet about how much he paid for something, and about the prices of items we saw in stores. I adopted that same feeling that it seems tacky to talk about money- at least among strangers and in public- though I know a lot of people say that's an old-fashioned and/or elitist attitude to have about money. I still prefer to be discreet about money outside of family matters.

You’re here for advice so you should follow it by not discussing your aspirations with others. You might mention what you are studying - chemistry, for example - but do not overshare that you plan to become a Neuroscientist or Chemical Engineer. Hold your cards close. The reason? Because, unfortunately, not everyone will be happy for you and some may seek to thwart or distract you from reaching your goal. Rather than talking about it, just be about it. Only tell people about something once you have actually accomplished it. For example, “I wrote a book and it’s been published and now available at Barnes & Noble.” as opposed to, “I’m panning to write a book about so and so…”. Or “I closed on a house this week and can move in two weeks”, as opposed to, “I’m saving up to buy a house by next year.” Only talk about what you have successfully completed. That is the best advice to follow.

I like how the ponytail looks when it's in the front. Very beautiful. And good tip on not sharing future plans, life often has a way of morphing and changing which can be equally or more successful than the original plan. I find if I share before completion I have a lot to explain and people then think I'm weird or flighty. My life is fluid. I appreciate your videos.
