Today we have another instalment of a long-term owner’s review of the Mazda CX-50. I bought my CX-50 back at the end of 2022 and it's one of two cars I personally own. In this video I detail everything from the interior, the driving dynamics, to the specific attention to detail that Mazda has put into the car. So here are 7 things I love about the CX-50 and why I have one in my garage!
🚗 Vehicle in This Video:

Thanks for all the great reviews on the CX-50! All my last 3 cars have been Mazdas, specifically mazda 3s. Your review pushed me to commit to pull the trigger on a CX-50 Turbo Prem Plus poly gray yesterday, and I couldn't be more happy with it. Only people who have driven Mazdas can truly appreciate how great of a car this is and also understand its seat comfort, steering, and handling. Coming from a 2019 Mazda 3 HB Prem, with red interior, a car which I loved, this car is so much fun to drive. Feels so good not to have to use my cable for my android auto😅.

Nice review. I've been leasing Mazda's since May 2016. I started with a 2016 Mazda3 Touring hatchback, 2.0 four, six speed automatic. In March 2018 I swapped it for a 2018 CX-5 Touring AWD. That was replaced in June 2020 with a 2020 CX-5 Touring FWD. Then on November 28, 2022 I leased a 2023 CX-50 Preferred Plus. One thing I love about Mazda's is that their control designs are so uniform across so many models that Its easy to transition from one car to another. I find that the fabric seats in my CX-50 are comfortable. I've taken a few, long drives (2.5-3 hours) and did not feel like I had to stop to get out and relax by bottom. I don't have any issues with the torsion beam rear suspension. I do like that I feel that the CX-50 has less body roll on hard turns compared to the CX-5. AAs for the exterior styling, I like the chunkier looks of the CX-50 compared to the more bulbous look of the CX-5. And I like the greater overall interior space of the CX-50 (especially longer).

I bought my CX 50 2.5 S in the premium plus trim back in December 2022 I now have over 6000 miles on it. I have taken it on three trips that totaled between seven and 10 hour trips. It is pretty good on gas mileage on Long Highway trips. Not so great with my short commute to work Downtown. My mpg read out falls down to 22.5 miles per gallon with just going back-and-forth to work. Luckily I work from home two to three days per week, so I usually get anywhere from 12 to 14 days before I have to fill up again. I debated whether to get the turbo engine but I have never owned a car with a turbo engine, and I was leery of the reliability of turbos, plus even less gas mileage. I agree with your assessment of the value that you get with a Mazda. With the CX 50 I get the panoramic sunroof and goodies such as the heads up display with the premium plus trim and, really, a lot of vehicles, to get these features, you have to get the top-of-the-line trims that can put certain vehicles over the $50,000 mark! So, overall, I am very satisfied with this car. Also, so far the build quality is very good on this Alabama-made Mazda!👍🏻👍🏻

I think the 18 inch rims should be an option for all trim levels given the stated capabilities from Mazda.

Im coming from a 2012 mazdaspeed3 which has a very harsh ride and rips the steering wheel put of your hands but is super fun to drive. Any insight on going from something like that to this? Test drove one the other day and seemed really nice, will miss my manual tho

The only thing I didn’t like about the CX-50 is the torsion beam rear and that’s it. I look forward to the 2 row version of the CX-90 which I believe will be the CX-70. It will be rwd biased awd and not have a torsion beam in the back. My everyday driver has a torsion beam (22 bolt euv) and in Colorado going around bumpy corners causes the backend to kick out and when there is snow and ice that can be dangerous.

While getting my 2013 CX 5 serviced i sat in a 24 CX50 premium plus and the seats were hard as rocks and the high sills were claustrophobic and im 6'2". My wife likes the 50 but i told her ill take you to the dealer and have you sit in it Shes 5'2" and she may have a problem seeing the corners of the hood. That and it not made in japan where they wont ship a vehicle with defects ecpecting the dealer to fix it. My CX 5 has been bulletproof tires brakes and oil.

I've done a comparison video across the two. I think there are benefits of the CX-50 over the CX-5 and vice versa, and it depends on priorities which is best for any given person

Sportier feeling/drive than cx5 plus it is a bit higher so better ground clearance. The cx50 roof is less high but it's a bit wider and longer with an overall same volume of space inside so, in short, it's better for a bit more legroom for rear seats and trunk can have more stuff in it unless you're packing all the way to the ceiling then it becomes about the same.

I noticed the Mazda emblem on grill is a metal one. I have a 2021 CX5 Carbon Edition, my Mazda emblem is large and has RADAR sensor built in. Does CX50 have this feature ? Did they move it to windshield from grill?
