Thanks for the video. Despite its flaws, sometimes we native-born Canadians forget that we have it better than 99% of the rest of the planet.

Came to the comments to say that exact thing. I always say that I am very fortunate to be born in Canada and very thankful my grandparents choose to immigrate here.

It is so refreshing to hear an immigrant have something positive to say about this country. I moved to Canada 44 years ago and having travelled to several countries both on business and for pleasure, I am always happy to return home. I came here, went to school, worked hard. My life is good. I am not sure it would be a whole lot better elsewhere. I do a lot of business in the States and I might make more money down there, but with the polarization of that society, I would not want to live there. I am happy to be Canadian.

@gnajsdayout Here is the thing. Some people come here with the mistaken belief that they are going to ride the train to riches overnight. That hardly happens anywhere. You have to put in the work, and you have to be patient. I have a group of friends with whom I went to university about 40 years ago. We are immigrants from the Caribbean, Africa and Pakistan. All of us have done incredible well financially. And none of us have wealthy parents. All of us are millionaires and some are multimillionaire with assets in the $30 million range. So when you hear these naysayers berate Canada, don't fall for the hype. Believe in yourself and believe you can succeed. Don't let anything get in the way to your success.

Hi! Welcome to Canada! It was a pleasure to hear what you found enjoyable about our country. There is so much here to see. I hope you enjoy yourselves here! The red beaches of PEI are also lovely, the colourful buildings of St John’s, Peggy’s cove near Lunenburg, the coolness of Montreal metro stations and their lovely architecture, etc…. Enjoy!

Welcome to Canada and good luck in your move. I could only imagine how scary it can be to move to another country. I always recommend people who are new to make use of government websites, not just federal but your municipality. They can be very useful in finding assistance whether it be career assistance, health, community or all kinds of things.

Thank you for sharing and hilighting the contrast from your home country. I hope you have a good portion of Canadian born and raised viewers, to remind them that we are very fortunate. I also loved you both acknowledged and mentioned we are not perfect, and plus you can't please everyone. I agree that in comparison to many countries we can see where some of the tax dollars go, now can our government and systems do better? Of course, but I'll take ours over majority of nations.

So sad that you didn't have the opportunity to taste maple syrup before coming here. I used to make it with grandpa on his land in the early 1980's. But at least, you got the opportunity. Have a nice day, both of you.

My favorite part is the different programs available to help newcomers feel comfortable. In a few days, I will take my first ski lesson. everything is free and paid for by an NGO supported by the government. For a sub-Saharan girl, this is a big step and I can't wait. Of course not everything's perfect.

Hello, i am asking you that my friend just arrived in toronto few days before as a visitor visa, but could not find a room because they require some document and also nobody provide him any job they said you need a sin number, so he decided to come back home Why is it difficult to stay in canada?
@MakeThatChange
@MakeThatChange 4 ай бұрын
Visitor visa does not provide authorization to work. Employers legally cannot hire your friend. You need to get a temporary residency permit or a work permit if you want to work in Canada. Same goes with rentals, tenants are protected in Canada by law, so landlords are very picky on tenants. They want to make sure tenants are trustworthy, will pay rent diligently and will stay for a long time.

@@MakeThatChange thank you so much for your reply Also for me 2 years before I had already sent my TFWP as general worker, now still I am waiting for the LMIA letter, the company’s name of my employer have in this Positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) Employers List. Hi Make That Change, do you think Canada will be worth "chasing" in some years in the future, talking about 3 years from now, about 2027-28 i think, after finishing bachelors here, should i apply for masters (i will study computer science here ) in canada if i will have the economic opportunity , what could be some affordable places there and what options are there on how to get to canada Thank you so much , love your videos and they are so valuable to everyone

I find my experience in Canada a mixed bag ! while I love how friendly people are, food is good , the nature could be a poster card everywhere I go especially since I live in interior BC what is not good is education quality is just not even decent , health care is lacking and worst part is there are no jobs for newcomers at all like none ! I get rejected from like delivery driver , warehouse labor , even Costco despite having over 7 years of experience in logistics !!!

The job market is tricky right now. They likely consider you overqualified for the jobs you’re applying for. They think you’d quit soon for a better one. They prefer to hire someone who can stay for years to come. Consider dumbing down your resume if you’re ok with those types of jobs OR focus your efforts on jobs that fit your experience BEST.

I’m sorry but I cannot agree about the healthcare system. Access to a doctor is near impossible. Look for news about people dying in emergency corridors before even meeting a doctor or simply because there are no beds available. I’m sorry but I’ld rather pay and be able to see a doctor than having a free healthcare system that works like that. A simple search of KZfaq or google would show that Canadian health care system is not as good as it once was. And the worst is that we don’t have enough medical staff and not enough infrastructure (no medical beds) and now the government is taking over 1 million immigrants per year. Add to that the fact that there are no proper pathway for a foreign medical graduate to become a doctor in Canada. So no doctors who can practise as a doctor in Canada out of this 1 million people. The system is close to collapse.
@MakeThatChange
@MakeThatChange 2 ай бұрын
You’re not wrong about all of the above and we agree that having access to private healthcare would have been nice; however if you’ve ever experienced healthcare in any country outside OECD, you’d have perspective in how bad healthcare (even when it’s paid) can be in comparison.
