This may be dumb but what I do is use a piece of paper as a bookmark and as I meet new people and adventure to new place I note the person or place and a brief description. Yes, it slows me down a little I suppose but it really helps me keep this in order. Great video my friend!

How did I not notice your Cloud figure before? 😮😮😮 You got a sponsorship-that’s awesome! Yay!!! I’ve gone back and forth between reading multiple books at once, and I think I actually like reading one at a time. Yay for 10k! Hahaha, also, what the heck? Your “on the fly” videos are still perfect 😆

Yay, was waiting for someone to notice the cloud figure! It's been on my shelf forever, so I *ahem* may have tried to make it a little obvious in that clip, to see where the Final Fantasy fans where at ;) Of course I already new you like FF, but glad the figure was noticed anyway! I think I like reading one at a time more as well, I need to try doing that agin once i finish reading the ones I have on the go. And thanks! :D I re-filmed a book haul like 3 times before this but just wasn't happy with it, so I did this video instead. Since I did it in one day though, and had to edit like an hour of a rambling mess into a 5min video, I was awake until like 3:45 am XD

I had no idea about book subReddits! Thanks for that tip, that’s so helpful. Discussing themes and symbolism and magic systems is what’s really fun for me with some book, especially high fantasy, so I can see how hearing from others and how they interpreted things would really help me get a more... immersive experience. I am struggling with The Well of Ascension at the moment so I could use that 😊

I like fantasy and have read some big ones, but I tend to try to remember everything that is mentioned like who is related to who, who likes who, anything new about the world, etc. the first time they are mentioned. I just discovered your channel, I also love The Way of Kings and indeed it was complicated at the beginning, but after that it is just brilliant! My start in fantasy was with the Dutch book De Brief voor de Koning by Tonke Dragt, which is finally translated in English and called “Letter for the King”, I hugely recommend this book, it has won all prices you can think of in the Netherlands. It is still very dear to me, I read it every year :)

That's a good point about pushing through with books. I usually think of it like... when you start a book you're looking at the story really close up, and the further you get through the book the more you get to see of the world and gain perspective until finally, you can see everything as a whole.

Deltora Quest is one of the series that first got me into reading fantasy too! no one ever talks about the series, which is unfortunate cause it's a great series (just kinda wish the books were a lot longer than they are)! though i believe the Warriors series by Erin Hunter got me reading fantasy a lot more after that. though while both Deltora Quest and Warriors got me into reading fantasy, the Lord of the Rings movies were what really got me into the fantasy genre years ago, and i'm only just now reading the books...or really reading and finishing them. i tried reading them years ago, but never got around to finishing them.

The book that hot me into fantasy was The Mists of Avalon, I read it in 7th grade (not a book that I would recommend for twelve year olds) but I loved it so much I had to keep reading more fantasy. Sadly I have since learned some terrible things about Marion Zimmer Bradley and I cant support her books anymore but the memory holds a special place in my heart.

I don't remember which series got me into fantasy. I was pretty much raised on it. BUT I will say that starting with a middle grade or YA series can be a really good way to get into fantasy if the adult books ten to overwhelm you. MG especially focuses less on world-building, which is what I think tends to lose people.

reading one series at a time really helps with keeping all of the characters and worldbuilding strait, although I've found that three or four series is where things start to slip through the cracks. I was introduced to fantasy by my mom who read the chronicles of Narnia to me whern I was four.
@CapturedInWords

Yes that's an excellent point, I feel like the max I would like to go is 3 books at a time. Actually I just recently was reading around 6 different books and it put me into a big reading slump until I decided to just drop some and focus on the 2 I was really enjoying. Things begin to blur together when reading that many stories, and I just enjoy reading a lot more if I focus on a few. And that's awesome, I love the chronicles of Narnia :) me and my family would always listen to the audio books when we went on family road trips

Trank you for this video, I think it world be very helpful oft some people. And I myself will probably use some of your tips to convince more people to read fantasy, since I'm trying this constantly. This thing about sticking to one series kind of worked for me with one series. But I didn't read them exactly one after another, instead I read them one per month, what actually quite well worked. I'm talking about 'A Song of Ice and Fire', about you've to know, that in Germany (where I'm from) they splitted each book in two - so there are not 5 but 10 books out so far. So it was almost a full year for me of Game of Thrones, which was very cool, 'cause so it never left my head. Please ignor the bad grammer, as I said I'm from Germany

The one problem I face reading the fantasy books is the words difficulty and also the name of the characters which sometimes extremely difficult to pronounce. And also so much characters to remember to understand the story better.

Fairy tales and my father's made up stories got me into fantasy. I don't distinctly remember when I started reading fantasy myself, because I've always just read books that appealed to me. One series that still stands out to me to this day was Die Merle Trilogie by Kai Meyer. I read the Dutch translation of these German books, and there is an English one as well, might you be curious. A great middle grade low fantasy set in Venice.

Robin Hobb's books are incredible! You are in for a great journey :) Just make sure you read her books in the correct order, because the 16 books long Realm of the Elderlings seies has 5 different series, and you should definitely read them in publication order for the best experience

Awesome, thanks for the advice! A friend of mine loves the series, so luckily he told me which order to read them all in and I'm super excited to get started!

I have read the first dark tower book which got me into Stephen king, then I read the first Witcher story anthology “the last wish”which got into the Witcher books and then I read “The way of kings” which got me into fantasy.

Harry Potter was the first fantasy series (and book series) I ever read. Followed by Deltora Quest straight after. Other highlights from my youth are The Hobbit & LotR, and the Abhorsen trilogy by Garth Nix. These cemented my love of fantasy - particularly high fantasy.

I somehow can't get through the way of kings. Tried reading it twice now and both times I stopped pretty quickly I did start "getting it" the second time, but still put it down. Will finish it at some point of course.

I find I have a book or two I’m literally reading (very slowly) and then a series I invest more time in on audiobook...because time is precious amiright. In the middle of the Assassin’s series now and found it gets a bit...sloggy. (Is that a word?) Hoping it picks back up. Looking forward to the review! Excellent tips!

Yes!! I'm the same way most of the time. Well usually i have one physical book I'm super dedicated to and one audiobook, then a bunch of others I read slowly. Ahh that sucks that the series gets a bit sloggy, I'll make sure to keep an eye out for that part and push through. Will for sure be making reviews and lore videos on that series!

I really got into reading because of Eragon. Later The Dresden Files and Pratchet found me. Not long after that my bookshelves and nightstand just disapeared (Still trying to dig them out)

Ahh I still need to read Dresden! And I've read a few Discworld books but definitely plan on reading more, Pratchett is brilliant.

The Valley of the Wolves by Laura Gallego got me started in fantasy, which is quite a simple fantasy book but I was 10 so basically perfect. And then three months later Eragon happened and that's why I really fell in love with high fantasy (still to this day I read Eragon and enjoy it way more than other higher quality books of the genre, sorry not sorry)

I prefer to juggle multiple series at a time, because then I avoid series burnout (which happened to me around 3-4 years ago when I read the first three books in ASOIAF back to back - I loved them, but when I came back to continue on with the series, I was just worn out in regards to the story, entirely and ended up giving it a mediocre rating).
