I eat both oat groats & steel-cut daily. I mix them, cook them in a rice cooker with some raisins, and cinnamon. I use one cup of each and add five cups of water (plus raisins and cinnamon) and they cook in the same time as rice. Delicious and healthy! For added taste, I add blue berries and walnuts to oatmeal bowl.

I would include the oat WITH the husk (aka HULL) as No. 1. It is an oat! Although humans don't eat the whole oat with the husk/hull, some animals do. And including it in the list, indicates that the oats we eat have had their husk/hull removed.. One can say that the oats we eat are slightly processed.

No. That is not true. As the video shows, the rolled oats are whole grain, & have all 3 parts- germ, endosperm, bran. Oat bran is not whole grain, & only retains the bran portion, which is more nutritious.

Thank you for explaining this. Please tell us what kind of oats that McDonald's sells? Their oatmeal is superior. I have tried steel cut oats but they are not like McDonalds. McDonald's oatmeal has "texture." In recent years, the oatmeal sold in stores today are NOT the same as in the past. No matter how much or as little water or cooking time, the oatmeal is "soup," too watery after you add buter, etc. McDonald's is not soupy. Also store bought oatmeal has "no texture" the oats are not "distinctive." But McDonald's oatmeal has distinctive grains. So please tell what kind of oats YOU think they use? Ty so vm ! 🤗⚘️⚘️⚘️

I can't stand the texture of cooked oats so I've been eating organic, uncooked rolled oats every day now for 2 years. i thought he was pretty clear. all oats are good, but the groat n steel cut are better. lower GI so good for diabetes. see the chart he showed? but the difference is just in degrees so any oats is good. i think the most important point he was making here was not about the oats itself, but the additives! what u add to the oats is what makes it dangerous! i don’t know about colon issues much. but if you mean eat a low fiber diet then isn’t oats high in fiber?

The best type is those whole grain type call oats groats. This are my favorite. I usually buy from bee's brand bird nest and health products. Then cook into a porridge with sweet potatoes. Can cook with other ingredients too just like what we put for rice porridge. My next favourite or what he claim is 2nd best is steel cut oats. This type I prefer to make overnight milk version. Just soak in milk for at least 4 to 8 hours in fridge. Occasionally I may use regular rolled oats to make those cheap 2 in 1 coffee to taste better as those are without sugar. My mum love to buy such coffee. I much prefer those espresso or cafe type of coffee. I dont like any oats below the regular rolled oats as they are more process and less nutrition values. I am taking tramadol daily so I need to take fibre to help with my bowel movement.

@@Cal316326 that not true. Instant oats usually contain sodium while rolled oats are sodium free. 5 fingers are all called fingers but some for longer and more useful while the pinky is shorter and less useful. Thanks for the video. It seems baffling to me that everywhere I read oat bran has MORE nutrition than oatmeal, & yet oatmeal includes oatbran along with the germ & endosperm?? Oatbran removes part of the whole grain, the endosperm & germ, and is not whole grain, yet somehow has MORE nutrition? So it must be you are saying, that for oatbran, that the parts removed are the least nutritious parts, & so, by only having the bran, FOR A GIVEN VOLUME (i TAKE THIS = THE KEY TO UNDERSTANDING), you have greater nutrition? Otherwise it makes no sense, if you were instead to just compare 1 grain of oats, which has all 3 parts (oatmeal) vs oatbran, which has only 1 of the 3 parts, it would not be possible or make sense to say the oatbran has MORE nutrition. LOL. NO ONE WILL explain this to make it understandable. Clearly volume = key. It would help if you would make it clear that oatbran has greater nutrition profile for this reason & lay out how removing parts has this effect, in specific terms of what exactly is being removed in terms of nutrition profile, & how that improves nutrition profile.
