Great video, thanks for sharing. I grow begonia Zumba, Melenobullata and Rajah and they are prized in my collection: I also recommend all of the following that I also grow: begonia Lunaris, Beefsteak, Soli-mutata, Kingiana, Gogoensis, Mumtaz, Blancii, Amphioxus, Ningmingensis, Gehrtii, Wild pony, Paulensis and Natunaensis. Enjoy.

Thanks for the tips Patrick. I find it frustrating that Begonias popular in the US are rarely available in the UK and vice versa.

It took a couple of tries, but I finally have a begonia Taconite adapted to a miserable 32-39 percent indoor winter humidity. Near black velvety leaves, red stems and undersides. And the leaves shine blue iridescence (most easily seen with a flashlight, though I've seen it visible under regular household lights if conditions are right). I'd say the cane begonia pink minx is my other highly showy oddball that has been a surprisingly good houseguest without raising a dramatic fuss over the low humidity.

Beautiful begonias, nice to see that you don't have them in a terrarium. I'm in New Zealand and i have only just started collecting them, not too many people selling them here, and those that do xan command a high price. Thanks for sharing ❤

Thanks Jodie. Sorry to hear they're tough to get hold of. You'd think they'd be easy enough to grow in NZ as your climate is pretty similar to ours I believe.

I also grow Melanobullata X Kui which is rare here in SA. And some Ferox too. They stay in my greenhouse though.

There are so many hybrids - over 10,000 I believe.

Wow these begonias are just so pretty. Unfortunately we don’t have Black knight , solid silver and luxurians in South Africa 🇿🇦

Yeah it’s the same for us here in the UK. There are a bunch of Begonias I’d like that I’ve only seen in the US.

Omg, I would never touch that Melanobullata. That triggered my trypophobia so SO bad when you showed the back of the leaves. I genuinely recoiled when i saw that.

That's very expensive for a plant that takes from cuttings so easily. Did you have to import it then?

@@Grow_Up_Man55 No its allways been expensive. There is to few ppl in Sweden to sell unusual plants. (No competition) I waited 3 xyears for somebody to sell the Luxuriance here. Companies find it difficult to get a profit

I killed my Queen Anthurium. No reason for it. It just woke up one day and decided life was too tough...

@@Grow_Up_Man55 it is... sensitive, or so they say. I imported on and it dumped what few roots it had and is hesitant to make new ones. I bought a hybrid of it and that plant didn't skip a beat.

Love the fringey leaves and colors on ‘Zumba’ but my favorite is the B. melanobullata. Unfortunately my conditions aren’t begonia favorable …I can’t resist the burgundy and silver swirled leaved ones for a few bucks at Lowe’s box store, so I consider and enjoy them like cut flowers! 🪴

Yeah that’s a great take on it. Cut flowers rarely last more than a week and yet can cost many times the price of a pot plant. Even if you only get a couple of months out of them it can be worthwhile by comparison.
