what i always did in mario kart 7 is if i was in first place and a blue shell was coming my way, i would backtrack and let whatever racer was in second pass in front of me. then the blue shell would hit them and i got to easily reclaim my spot.

And the best way is: NOT BEING IN 1ST AT ALL, most of the W are from people standing in 2-3-4 place with a strong item and stealing the win at the end of the race because the first place is always going to get hit by something

You can also use a ground mushroom if you're lucky enough to find one, if there was a shock or from leaf piles. You still have to time driving into it but it works.

You can also dodge by hitting a mushroom that's on the ground at the right time. It’s REALLY hard but it's also really funny when it happens

To dodge a blue shell with a mushroom you must time it at the moment when the shell shows you it's back. It's pretty simple, the shell flies around you a little bit then shows you it's belly and finally it's back

In Mario Kart Wii, I dogde the blue shells by using those turbo boosters but I have to time it perfectly

U can also drive towards a wall with a green and throw it when it bounces back it will hit u giving u invincible frames

Probably the hardest way to dodge a blue shell, you can actually time a mini turbo to release as you crash into a wall. If you do this you'll bounce off of the wall and get a small boost which is just fast enough to dodge the blue shell. This might only be possible in 200cc though...

There is another one by letting the 2nd get pass you by a bit and then he get hit and you pass him

If you run into the cars or train on maps that have them you will have a 0.5 second spinout and then gain I-frames. When the blue shell "hits" you it will not add to you spinout time leading to a shorter spin out by hitting the car opose to letting the blue shell actually hit you

I actually managed to save a race for myself by jumping off to avoid a blue shell the explosion hit second place allowing me to just barely keep first

I mostly back up and give the blue shell to the other person that’s now first

You can also hit another item, like of you get hit by a banana, then you will be invisible for about 2 seconds giving plenty of time to dodge the blue shell

There are some places on some maps where the blue shell will blow up on the stage or on stage hazards instead of you.

Also if your close to second you can slow down to cause the blue shell to go after the other player

Also use a banana. Throw it forward and slip on it before the shell hits you since a slip out is faster than the blue shell hit
