ALL MY VIDEOS ARE IN 1080p HI DEF so check that out
car is a 1970 chevelle with a 454 big block
just a video going over the correct alternator and power steering brackets
and also an idea how the belts go on
it will give you a pretty good idea on one of these cars (not 100% but pretty close)
i had to do a lot of research when trying to figure this out and i just made this video to help people out a little

Lower alternator bolt needs a spacer in back or the bolt might break and hole in upper alt bracket is for leverage for adjusting belt. I like your vids.

I would check that bolt on top of your steering gear under the pump bracket after you get the engine running. I bet it will have made contact with the bracket due to engine mount flex.

Will a 93 model Gen 5 454 have the same setup as the 70 model does in regards to bolt hole placement and mounting hardware? Sorry for the kindergarten level questions but Im trying to school myself on engine work. I fear that ill not get right alternator, water pump, and mounting hardware and end up having pulleys and belts out of alignment. Please help

Great video man. I've got the same style pump and I'm having trouble getting the pulley off. I rented the pulley tool from Autozone but it didn't work. Do I just have to loosen the bolt?

+100 Grand that nut has to come off... I used pb blaster and the pulley came off without a puller..

Can you swap v-belt pulleys for serpentine belt pulleys but keep the old school brackets? Like a combo of old and new.

Chris. What temperature does your engine get in idle condition??. Bbc Mine stays at 210. Is it normal?? Cause my other car sbc engine runs from 180-200. Both engines with radiator fans

The upper alt bracket is the same on small and big block cars. I have switched them many times on my 67 chevelle :)

Look up: 69-70 Chevelle big block power steering brackets . a few places sell them I got them STMC in spring , TX

Did you buy the fan at swap meet? or order it? I can't find one 18" without restoration company.. O Reiley has the fan clutch...but no fan; resto comp wants $125 for the set. Does your fan fit in shroud ?

@@chriscraft77022 I have the 1970 402 original engine; I did see your video the routing for the a/c belt; it uses inside groove of the power st pulley and around ONLY the crank pulley and back.. nowhere else; thanks. Im finding parts; just got to order the pwr steer brackets and pump.... thanks tc

@@devicetrickz the spacer only goes on 1 way all GM alternators use it. it has one 5/16" short bolt to the case....

Great video Chris. I am installing a SB 307 Chevy engine into my 1954 Dodge Fargo. It came without any pulleys and I am having a hard to trying to figure out what pulleys that will work for me and what brackets will fit my application. This video helped with the pulleys, but I have to find one for a SBC so I can see the brackets. Do you have any. Thanks for sharing.

@@AndysDogHouse just be careful on the power steering brackets. cause some mount to the factory manifold.... in case you didnt know.. can cause a real ugly mess if you run headers

It’s not for the water pump... STMC in spring, tx has them... (south Texas muscle classic) the single groove crank pulley for a big block would be hard to find... why would you want a single groove crank pulley, though?

@@chriscraft77022 I am sure but I want to know size or numbers so I am not making several trips doing fitment, a lot of cars came with air pump and ac with several belt configurations I just wanted to simplify you did so well at describing everything, length and size of bolts etc., belt numbers and or size would have been great but I will try to get belts for 70 chevelle and see how it comes out thanks

I literally went into oreilly and they had the belts there.. 1970 chevelle SS454 with power steering .. I didn’t measure anything.. look up the part numbers

I was looking for this comment before I made mine. I am having issues with my 502 that pulleys are not aligned. I need harmonic balancer a 1/4" more to the inside. This is a new engine. I will set it tomorrow. Wish me luck.
