@@1eyeddancer974 1900 pounds is 861 kg so it would only need 861 horsepower. It's better to be lighter and have the same poweratio because you can brake and move like a lighter car. the reason the 1:1 weighs so much and some random guy can make the same power to weight is because of safty regulations, where cars have to be safe, while back in the good days it didnt matter

For the people that are hating, hop off the previous owners nuts and just enjoy the video. Also the new lotus's are built well the earlier cars were all hand built, so every single one is a bit different and reliability is usually what you chase instead of power

Straightcut gears on that car would make it perfect

Straight cut/ dog engagement gears are lighter and sometimes shift faster, but the overall strength of the transmission is often dictated by the case holding the entire kit n kaboodle together. Helical gears produce a great deal of strain on the shafts/ case, which is often why a gearbox fails and not necessarily teeth shearing on an individual gear.
@2JZLS

I disagree, some cops know cars, and would pull you over just from that sound, ask to pop the hood and make sure it is deemed street-legal. If it isn’t registered as a modified vehicle with all visible and audible parts listed and inspected, you’ll need to get a VI. Sometimes even when cars are listed with say a dogbox cops dont care they’ll give you another VI ticket even though it’s legal.

@@rhubarbpie2027 The dog rings are unrelated to the types of gear used. You could do a synchromesh straight cut or dog box helical cut gearbox. Often a lot of "street" dog boxes will have a helical cut top gear for cruising. The thing is that helical gears put more of an axial load on the shaft, whereas straight cut gears will put more of a radial load on the shaft. Helical pushes outwards and puts pressure on a thrust bearing. The gears want to come apart. Straight cut gears just want to bend the shafts more or less. There is a lot of confusion around dog boxes and sequentials. A dog box with a sequential conversion kit isn't really a sequential. A true sequential is almost always a dog box, but it doesn't have to be. A true sequential gearbox uses a shifter cone, like a bike. And that combined with dog engagement will most definitely allow you to shift a lot faster. It also removes the idiot factor from the equation. If you slam an H pattern dog box into first gear from say fourth, it WILL go in ... with all the consequences of your actions soon to be apparent.

I have credited him a million times over the past year of owning the car, and I’ve also done lot to get the car running. I never once said I built the car originally, and it wasn’t just “seats, axles, and tune” as I was told when I bought the car from him because that wasn’t even close. Had to redo the coolant system, lots of wiring, pull the engine/trans because trans casing was crack and replaced thrust bearings due to some movement with the crank, new accessories such as the boost controller and vtec solenoid because they weren’t working at all, new wheels and tires, new seats and harnesses, axles, bleed the brakes and clutch, then get the car started and tuned, etc. Yeah he may have built the car beforehand which I was thankful for and anybody would have jumped on it for the price I paid for it, but at some point I shouldn’t have to continue to keep crediting him when I’ve done plenty of work to it and will continue to do so. Everyone that knows me personally knows that I bought the car unfinished and finished it up nor do I tell anybody I did all the originally work he did, but those same people know how much had money and time I’ve had to put into the car too.

@@AJMangino I don't agree at all. In 3 short years Honda's in both the K20 and K24 category have snatched every record that any 4G63 Evo held. AWD Honda's came with 7s right out of the gate, something that took 4G63s the better part of 2 decades. A K20 is also built on the same block as the K24, the only real differences being deck height and bore x stroke. Both Ks will and have hit 700hp+ unopened, many times over. The K24/K20 is the ONLY 4 cylinder engine in the world capable of handling 1000hp on stock sleeves.

Heavy car vs light car wheels: Heavy car has a heavy ass so the tires are pressed against the asphalt, creating more friction. Light car, logic says that it needs smaller tires but in fact, the ass is so light it barely presses the tires against the road. This is how my smart 452 works tho...
