It's still surreal to hear announcers talk about how he's only a few away in this stat or that stat from guys like Babe Ruth. It cannot be overstated how historic this guy's career has been.

It's a fascinating career. He's been mediocre for around a decade people forget he was basically Mike Trout for a whole decade before that. And now out of nowhere he's playing the best ball he's played since his prime to get to 700. Maybe there's just something about St Louis, wonder what his career #s would be had he never left.

I'm a Texas Ranger fan. I'm still kind of disappointed he defeated my Rangers in the 2011 World Series which was a classic Showdown. But I told one guy who was a Cardinal fan I sure hope they keep him in St Louis. And looking throughout what he did with the angels was the biggest mistake of his career you could have had 800 career home runs and possibly 4000 base hits. But what a phenomenon Albert Pujols has been for the last 22 seasons.

Albert crushing the ball in to Big Mac land and named for Mark Mc Guire tonight was amazing. Somehow Albert regained his youth this year, or during the second half of this season. I did see Stan Musial in 1962 bat .330 almost winning the national league batting title finshing second at age 41 also amazing. It's such an amazing year for Albert. If Albert had not aged faster he would be getting compared right now to Babe Ruth as the greatest player ever. Musial and Aaron aged better, but this year it has all returned for him. I realize he did well last year for the Dodgers in a limited role, but after the first half of the season I never saw this coming. What a treat for St. Louis fans tonight.

Absolutely! St. Louis has a way of revitalizing players' careers...it's crazy. Players that were traded here all of the sudden having their best seasons. Washed up pitchers, batters etc...coming to StL and it just changes them. So glad Pujols made the return and can finish up in a Cards jersey. The way he's ending it is just icing on the cake. To say we've been spoiled is an understatement lol.

@@coryCuc You made a good point about how the Cards have picked up some veteran players over the years and they ended up having a very good year or two. One player from the 1960s who did well with the Cards in the News quite a bit lately was Roger Maris, although not as dramatic as Albert he sure worked out well. They are numerous. I thought it would be fun having him back and the DH making it possible for him to hit lefties, but never expected after the first half of this season, he would catch fire. Good comment.

I'm 63 years old, and a third-generation Cardinals fan. My earliest memories of the Cardinals go back to their winning the 1967 World Series over the Boston Red Sox. Attended my first Cardinals game Aug 20 1970. I've seen Lou Brock break the single season stolen base record in 1974, Bob Gibson throw his only no hitter, and World Series championships in 1967, 1982, 2006 & 2011. It never gets old, and I think most of we Cardinals fans realize how fortunate we are to have not only one of the greatest franchises in baseball history, but one of the greatest in the history of American sports period.

You can’t help but cheer for Pujols. The man is not just a cardinal legend ; he’s a MLB legend. He earned his spot in baseball history the right way. Hate to see him go cause players like him don’t come around very often. Pujols is the prime example of what a baseball player should be. What a career… One can’t help but respect and admire Albert Pujols. Keep the hrs coming!

I was there, sitting underneath Big Mac Land. Busch Stadium erupted when it left his bat. Glad I got to see it in person.
