how to remove the oem shifter bushings and shifter base

When I did mine when it came to removing the vacuum lines, I just remove the bolt holding all of them in front of the airbox and remove the one that was still attached below, so I didn’t have to remove those other two with the needle nose pliers I didn’t end up having to use a screwdriver for getting the old bushings off here’s my trick to getting them off, so where the bushing slides on those pegs that are metal after you take the two cotter style pins off of the bushing just push down firmly, but gently those rubber bushings will slide up right off which also means you don’t risk damaging the old rubber bushings. Should you need to ever reuse them again if they’re in usable shape of course before you go to take them off but that’s just 2 tricks I learned while doing it to install the red 2J racing shifter bushings

I don’t understand why would you do it? Why replacing rubber to metal?
