This version is the one many asked for. The unit is created without the needed for Saitek throttle unit! This makes the unit much cheaper, stronger and better! It includes friction brakes to prevent inadvertent throttle movement.
I am really pleased with how this turned out. It's certainly a step up and the right direction towards the ultimate motorised throttle quadrant!

I think it would look super cool to do a "faux finish" with several layers of paint. 1. light sand (surface prep) on the parts to be painted, avoiding any areas with bump-lettering. 2. apply a filler of some sort. let dry. sand. Probably using some kind of paint as a filler would be best. I would think brushing it on would be better than spraying. 3. sand, and then hand brush on a "base". 4. sand and then paint a bit of "chrome" (metal/steel) 5. add a bit of drybrush technique with black as an accent, to look like the oxidization of the metal. This is something that is commonly done in the movie prop industry. 6. On the white parts, I think a hand paint and then sand filler coat or two, and a white krylon spray paint final surface would add a lot of shine to the white knob parts. I think your 737-v3 throttle looks amazing.

Hello Warren, As cool as this throttle was as the time. It was based around the Saitek Throttle unit. This had its flaws from the start and they were carried over to this one. The new MTU v5 changes all that and produces a unit that is awesome in manual mode and auto. However, your advice is awesome and greatly appreciated. I will add this to the website under hints for the unit. thank you. Kind Regards Karl

Just note - although I am just learning this - LeoB boards are 12k native at least while Arduino ones are just 10k. Thus resolution on axis on LeoB is 4-times (or more if they are i.e. 14 or 16k) higher than those on Arduino unless some supplement board like ADS1015/1115 is used - which increase price tag when several axes are required. Of course price depends on source of the boards: LeoB has one provider, Arduino comes from many manufacturers

Hi Karl. This design is amazing and I am literally on the verge of purchasing - my only concern is the reverse thrust - how do you achieve this using a pot when the reversers are activated in FS by a keystroke, not a joystick axis? Thanks.

Hello, My printers of choice are the Ender 3 Pro if you are on a budget or the CR10 v3 if you have a little more to spend. The Cr10 is better because of the increased build plate size. Both printers produce good looking prints.

This is awesome, and the only reason I havent built it yet is my printer just isnt tuned for PLA, and I dont even have any on hand. I do have tons of ABS but I'm terrified of all those huge flat parts :D Anyway, if I buy the cad files, do you specify the part numbers for the various pots, switches, etc you've tested with?
@helimech8152
@helimech8152 3 жыл бұрын
Hello A Guy, I have never printed in ABS yet, i was thinking of trying the 757/767 in that. But i'm guessing from your statement, large flat pieces are prone to warping? The PDF attached documents the parts individually and the links i used. The problem i find with links is they change too quickly. I'm finding it earlier to to tell people the part numbers and they carry out there own searches. Just be careful on some of the components, like the HQ Pots, they range from 2USD upto 23USD. I have only ever used the 2USD ones, I'm guessing there copies of the real units, but seem to work fine. Kind Regards Karl.

Wow just amazing, just wish I knew where to start, when you mentioned the Arduino micro boards,’ just upload a sketch’, what does this mean. I’ve not yet purchased a 3D printer, looking for recommendations. Advice too on an easy to learn CAD program would be great. Other thing you add loads of bits n pieces, screws, springs, pots etc do you have a source or shopping list for these. Do you make the 3D printer files available for download, cost? So loving the throttle, fan dabby dozey.....💥

Hello and thank you! All the parts, build guide etc can be found on the website. As for the sketch, that's an Arduino programme that is copied to the Arduino micro to make it replicate a joystick card rather than a Arduino interface card. They are cheap and very versatile. Good Luck Karl

Karl, thank you for great video! As I understand, you plan to create levers with auto throttle function? Well, looking forward... Karl, is the scale of your levers the same as original 737 levers? Or your levers smaller?
@helimech8152
@helimech8152 3 жыл бұрын
Hello From a very late Brunei! The levers are as real as i can make them without actual units in my hand. People have complained they should be 60mm wide while mine are 62mm wide. This doesn't bother me, but for the true 737 addicts, this is a sin! If you need real dimensions, try asking around on forums or head over to a aviation scrap merchant. For me, these units are exactly what will be used in all iterations from this point forward. Kind Regards Karl.

Hello Raymond, I currently do not have a wiring diagram for the micro yet. I only used for for an evening to test it. However the rout i used is to download MMJOY. This is the interface software for the card. I Then hooked a pot to the board. Left pin goes 5v, right pin goes to GND, centre pin goes to any pin labelled A0 to A6. Select the pin in the software, which isn't called A0 but PF1 i think! Then i got it to work flawlessly. I will update the website with more info when i get the chance! Kind Regards Karl

Thanks a lot, nice, very nice work.. Does the LED of the Parking Brake also work with the BU0836A? If I use an arduino Micro / Leonardo (ATmega 32u4 instead of ATmega328), then I also have an USB controller that recognizes MSFS directly. I can use buttons and potentiometers via FSUIPC7, no problem, but a LED? Is it possible to control this LED with FSUIPC7 ?? Hopefully an answer will be appreciated, thank you in advance.

Thank you, LEDs don't work with the Leobodnar, and you need an arduino too. Or in fact the Arduino is now capable of reading analogue joystick axis thanks to a mobiflight update. And yes, you can easily control the LED with FSUIPC or direct MSFS events within mobiflight.

Hello! that quite a big question. There are other parts your going to need, 7 segment displays, encoders, tactile switches and leds. but the wiring theory remains the same. Wire all the electrical components to the Arduino mega's. Select the device and pin in mobiflght. Then share the device config in PROSIM or PMDG. Kind Regards Karl

Nice Job, congratulation :-) and what about de Flaps, you don't mention it. I try to use an arduino Mega with Mobiflight and the command I used is When testing the flap-working with a free potentiometer, it appears that you need the entire track (280°) to move the Flap-leaver from 1 to 40 (over 9 steps). When this potentiometer is mounted in the throttle base, it only describes about a quarter (90°) of the full path (280°), which is insufficient. How can you solve this please?
