New York City is no stranger to lavish apartments. None more so than the elegantly understated 740 Park Avenue, which has been home to affluent residents Vera Wang, John D. Rockefeller, and a young Jackie Kennedy Onassis.

@TheLusianPopa 10 жыл бұрын
Hey man I'm not talking good looking.If thats the case 720 and 778 take the cake for me(on park).There is no building as grand as 740( in terms of square footage which averages about 7k), but there are a couple on Fifth(820,834,4E 66th, 2 E 67th,960 & 998) which have about 6-6.5k average but much better views.Also the tower duplexes at RiverHouse are comparable and with 360 degree views from two floors ).The 6 I listed on Fifth, Riverhouse and 740 are, imo, arguably the finest prewars.In terms of apartment size/layout,pedigree, history and so on. Architecturally proly no one beats the San Remo.That is just a stunning heavenly building, too bad its on the wrong side of town LOL ps.Nice to see more people know these buildings...except actual upper east siders there are extremely few with I can actually discuss this topic
@67tr876

No your right 740 is the most grand but I was just talking about looks sorry about that. Btw I hear the super of 740 makes 225,000 a year and has a big 3 bedroom
@TheLusianPopa
@TheLusianPopa 10 жыл бұрын
In the looks department 720 and 778 are the most impressive , imo.I know all these grand buildings have a superintedent who lives there(usually on the 1st floor), but i have no idea how much he makes.But that figure doesnt really surprise me.By Manhattan standards its not THAT huge.But i doubt its a 3 bedroom.I know for a fact the super's apt at 820 5th has two beds, so 3 beds isnt that farfetched.But even if it has 3 beds, its nowhere near as grand as the 3 beds units above lol.The super apt at 834(also built by candela and also in 1929) is 1000 SF.Puny compared to the 5-7000 SF units in the building. Btw where do you have that 225k/year figure?thanks
@TheLusianPopa
@TheLusianPopa 10 жыл бұрын
you forgot 2 east 67th and 4 east 66th.4E 66th may very well be the grandest of them all.The public rooms are simply palatial. Park ave is roughly as grand as fifth if ur looking at the 60s and 70s.There are some very old palatial ones(630,640,625), but they got a lot of subdivided ones.Also park ave lost about 20 grand ones below 59th st, demolished for office buildings. 740 is only marginally grander than the best on fifth, but many wouldnt mind 500SF less when u look onto Central Park. From what i know and read(and i knmow/read lot) 820 5th maybe is the most exclusive in the city, and the floor plans are absolute perfection.Plus it has very few units and fabulous facade.

How big is this building?? How many mansions can you fit into an apartment building? The block must be huge for such a building. 30 bed rooms for just 1 apartment? And you have like 20 people living inside? That means it's fitting 20 mansions into 1 building.

We all end up in the same “real estate” 6 feet underground, so who cares. We are all forgotten in 100 years or so unless kind relatives keep us alive through memories and photos. That’s a fact.

It would be easier for a camel to walk through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the gates of heaven. I can more about eternal things while rich people scratch out each others eyes for monopoly money, it's quite ammusing actually.

But poor people do the same, if you really feel like that you don't have to write it. you're either convincing yourself or using it to assert some vain act of superiority over the rich "give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, 'Who is the LORD?' Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God." Proverbs 30-8-94
