75 Gallon Aquarium | Restocking With American Cichlids!

In today's video, we are restocking the 75 gallon aquarium with more cichlids! Really excited about getting the 75 gallon cichlid tank back up and running after transferring the previous cichlids to my 180 gallon aquarium.
I made a trip to my local fish store to pick up one of my favorite cichlids, and I also unbox an order from Imperial Tropicals. All of the cichlids are doing great, and I couldn't be more happy with the setup.

Our Tiger Oscar is named Astro short for Astronotus and I can’t say the rest of it lol Astro likes to swim in figure eights and barrel rolls, very aerobatic. He does rolls when he’s about to be fed, then he swims off to himself to ingest his food. Thanks for your very thorough coverage of this puppy. I got three rainbow cichlids from Tangled up in cichlids and I absolutely love them! I couldn't find any locally either. Ended up with a pair and they spawned on day 6. Got wigglers in the tank now and the parents are doing a great job of keeping them safe even though it's a community tank.

Ive had a rainbow cichlid for a few yr now, and i wont lie, hes a handful. Hes a match for any fish. Tough. Shares a tank with my oscars, full size oscars, and sometimes the rainbow is too much for them. Lovely selection, great tanks mate👌👍💚

Love those fish! That chocolate cichlid has the cutest face! Oscars are one of my most favorite cichlids, my daughter had a tiger named Ragnar.

I had an albino Oscar and after 2 years unfortunately he jumped from my aquarium during the night and I saw on the next morning. Oscars are the best fish. Yours is very beatiful.

Growing up, we almost always had an Oscar. I’m starting my first predator tank, I’ll let the fish that I have grow up and then add an Oscar. I’m excited! So far I have 1 polar blue parrot, 1 green terror, and 1 Jack Dempsey in a 75 gallon

It’s awesome to watch them grow. My Tiger Oscar’s name is Kirby. Got him at 2 inches and within 6 months he was at 10 inches. Now about 2.5 years old he’s about 14 and tank boss.

Awesome selection! I'd name the oscar "Nacho". Hahaha I think the polyfilter sponge is for sucking ammonia since shipping can be unpredictable at this time.

Didn’t know about Chocolate cichlids until you guys showed me. I’ve found a place here in Calgary that carries them so I’ll be picking one up for my 125. Plan for a Chocolate, Tiger Oscar, Red spotted severum, and a red shouldered severum. Wanted a Geophagus Brasiliensis but can’t find them here so need different geos.

Nice new fish I suggest for the rainbow maybe finding a few more because as I have discovered they feel more comfortable especially with the Oscar because it gets huge

Great video, I really want to duplicate the order from Imperial Tropicals, I just did the same kinda transfer stocking a new bigger tank myself. also Oscars names i have had in past; Speedy, Greedy, Boss, Red and my current trying to mate pair of Oscars, Sun & Moon abbreviated from G.O.T.

I just bought a chocolate cichlid, we were getting a green terror from the tank and he swam out from under a rock, we didn’t know what he was at first as his colour was faded but hes stunning now!

Will be interesting to see how these all grow and get along. I used to have an Oscar a long time ago, very personable, and he used to like playing with ping pong balls. He was called Herbert, so when i see oscars now, they are all called Herbert. :)

@@CichlidBros Question for you. I noticed that your using the African cichlid mix substrate with American cichlids....is that working ok for you? I mean is it affecting your ph or water hardness alot? I have an American cichlid tank and I would like to put some type of sandy substrate in. Any suggestions or advice would be helpful.

Chocolate cichlids are special hard to get in the UK at the moment and I do not know why! Every time you walk in to the room they are the first ones to the front of the tank to say hello wicked fish!!!!!!

My sister in law ordered some cichlids off of imperial tropics. They both had a slime coat infection, one died and the other still looks very rough. I hear they’re good but after she had that experience with them I’m going to stick to my lfs which ironically enough ships some of his fish to imperial tropics and does business with them. lol sucks but it definitely made me worry enough to not order from them :(

Rainbows, Geo’s and Convict types like the Nicaraguan Cichlid do better in groups. You will notice more natural behavior and coloration.

question , do you know if that African Sahara Sand black/white is good for all fish or just cichlids ? cuz i heard it raise the ph and might kill angel fish.. ? thanks

I’ve kept South Americans with this sand for years without issues. It supposedly brings up PH slightly, which could be good for African cichlid tanks. My PH is already high so haven’t seen a change
