76 D100 318 Burnouts Testing 4 Hole Spacer - Edelbrock SP2P - Quadrajet - Advanced Stock Cam

These are the first two burnouts or launches after putting an S.P.2-P and a Quadrajet on my friends 76 D100. A slightly more detailed video of the swap is coming soon.
The engine is a stock low compression 318 with the stock cam advanced 4 degrees, Edelbrock S.P.2-P low RPM torque intake for heavy vehicles with blocked exhaust crossover, remanufactured 750 CFM Quadrajet, Mopar Perfrormance orange ignition box, Accel super stock coil, slightly increased spark plug gap, lightweight Magnum starter, single exhaust with a decent Y pipe and no muffler or cat, KYB Gas Adjust shocks front and rear and a 3.55 ratio open rear axle.
The advanced stock cam worked great with the RPM range of the S.P.2-P and the Qjets small primaries. Before the carb and intake swap the truck wouldn't break traction naturally, but now it lights up one tire pretty good for a smog era long bed pickup with a small block.
You gotta give the guys at Edelbrock credit because this intake really delivers on the low end just as advertised. Real shame it got discontinued though.
As you can see in the video the 4 hole spacer worked much better on this dual plane intake and heavy truck than just the open hole gasket and really helped this particular combo out a lot.

Thanks, I always wondered about those 4 hole spacers. If your buddy ever comes across a Performer RPM he should slap it on. Great increase in top end power and you keep your bottom end too. I put one on a stock low compression 350 sbc with headers and was shocked and amazed. 3: 08 gears TH350.

@Toefield A performer RPM is a great choice for an engine that can use that kind of high RPM air flow but the high RPM improvements of the Performer or Performer RPM likely wouldn't even be usable on an advanced stock cam and the bigger runners will just make it lazy in the low RPMs. The SP2P, the advanced cam, the Qjet with smaller primaries than the stock two barrel and the 4 hole spacer that effectively splits the 750 CFM carb into a 375 CFM carb on each bank were specifically chosen to work with each other. Right now this motor is setup to pull hard from 500 RPM to 4000 and it does that really good for a little motor in a big truck.

@@Impactjunky Sounds like a well thought out combo. I had the Performer RPM Q-Jet manifold with the spreadbore flange and ran a modified Q-Jet. 3.08 gears automatic and 28" tall tires. Looking forward to the more detailed video, keep up the good work!

@@toefield251 Thanks, a Qjet, 3.08 gears and 28 inch tall tires sounds like a recipe for good gas mileage. That new video is coming out soon, probably tomorrow.

@@Impactjunky Sweet. Yea that gas miser combo wasn't on purpose lol! The 3.08 open became a 3.73 posi, the RPM became a 144ci blower, the Q-Jet became a Holley 750dp, the TH350 became a Tremec TKO-600 5spd manual, the stock cam became a performance cam, and the stock heads got ported.

@@toefield251 Yeah that blown Camaro is a sweet ride now. I'd kinda like to throw a blower kit like that on my dads Cougar for him some day. It already has no hood.

interesting video dont know nearly as much about this stuff as you do 318 i can picture the type of dodge truck your using somebody was talking to me about edelbrock did they get bought out or closed?

@@bobc.5698 Awesome, thats not exactly an easy intake to find anymore since they quit making them. Here is the link to the timing keyway kit you asked about in the other video, sorry for the late responses. The carb originally had a heat riser style of choke and we had to adapt a manual choke kit to work on it. This wasn't too hard to do but it did require some modifications of the choke arms to fit the manual choke. You should be able to use most any pre computer Qjet, although I would avoid the rare larger 800 cfm version though because the primaries would be too big to perform like this.
