Hi, I’m in Nova Scotia Canada and I’m now ~ 2 years on waiting list for consult with DBS surgeon.

I was diagnosed at 36. I had my first DBS at 39 and my second side at 40. So thankful for a dr who was willing to go outside of norms to help me! I am located in Alabama.

Two year wait for me. Canadian. Only Medtronic was available in 2018. Seems to me that things are changing so rapidly that the systems are catching up. Though I do like the idea of doing all of the surgeries in one go. If they can do it.

Thanks for the great information you both bring to the Parkinsons community. Did Marlene say what part of the brain (STN or GPI) the surgeon placed the probes? There seems to some controversy as to what is the best location to place the probes, STN or GPI. This might be a good topic for one of your videos.

As a fellow Canadian I'm just interested whereabouts are you from in Canada? And where did you get your DVS surgery?

Current information is that DBS is being made available much sooner after diagnosis according to my MDS. I did speak with someone well known in the PD community that also said the same. As well as most surgeons do this fully asleep as the imaging tech allows it now and depending on the individual the entire surgery can sometimes be done all at once. Brian, I don’t remember what your process was with your dbs??

it may depend on what city and province you are in here in Canada... cities with a medical university would be luckier ... they are also testing a set of gloves at Standford? university in the States that work on tremor ... but it is still in trialing but looks promising ... it is non invasive
