Welcome back to the channel for this walk-around review of a 1998 McLaren F1 LM producing 780 horsepower. This McLaren F1 is #63 of 64 inspired by Gordon Murray and fabricated in England. It's essentially a street-legal, fully carbon fiber formula 1 car. Join us as we speak with the car's caretaker at the 2023 Concours d'Elegance in Boca Raton, Florida.
The McLaren F1 LM is a track-oriented version of the McLaren F1 built to pay homage to the 5 McLaren F1 GTRs that competed in the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans, finishing in first, third, fourth, fifth and thirteenth places overall.
This McLaren built for the original owner, was never delivered. Instead, after McLaren's Le Mans race program ended, they contacted the owner and offered to upgrade it with the left over parts from the race cars. That means everything from the engine, transmission, brakes, wheels, the front and rear coach work, and more. In addition to all the upgrades, the owner also painted the car a tri-color comprised of silver, orange, and gold flake, which truly shines in the beautiful sunlight of South Florida.

I'm not sure what this guy is on about but it's not a F1 LM, and I'm sure he's well aware of that. It also does not make 780 horsepower-- in standard form, the gtr, the lm, or the hdk specification as we have here. Gordon murray designed this car as a road car first and foremost with the perfect blend of ultimate performance while it still being an excellent grand tourer. It is not a 'formula one car' nor does it have a formula one powertrain. As an enthusiast of the f1 I find what he shared pretty insulting. There are plenty of great documentaries on youtube of the f1 and gordan murray's ethos creating the car

there is no history of 780 bhp car. The F1 LM has 680 bhp. The enginers from McLaren factory at that time say they could make even 750 bhp and put 7 gears on it. It will be go over 400 km/h.
