I got this idea from the channel belgrademachine check him out on youtube. This video is in 1080P if your connection is fast enough, the setting is under the player on the right side(the little gear shaped button).
This is an attempt make parting blades from a circular saw blade with carbide tips. Do you think more expensive blades have better carbide tips? I am not sure. In the video I cut aluminum and steel.
This was the cheapest saw I could find with carbide tips it was around $9. It is a little difficult to cut with a 4-1/2 grinder but on the 2nd try I was able to get it close enough, the first try I cut it a little too short.
The blade fits perfect in the parting blade holder I bought from grizzly, made by glanze.
The problem , actually I am not sure it is a problem but the blades have angled tips, so every other blade is angled left or right and I was not sure which one to try. In this video I used the blade with the carbide tip angled left.
There is a lot of chatter / rubbing, and it seems to work best a little below center so I think the angle of the whole blade might have to point down very slightly(not sure though as I am not an expert).
I think an easier way to make these is to just cut them and weld them to 3/8 square bar(if you have a tig) much faster than trying to get them perfect to fit in the holder Then you don't need a special parting blade holder either, you can just put them in the tool holder like any other turning tool.
There is a lot of movement if you notice, this is the whole carriage moving it looks like it , or the tool post.
Thanks for watching.
