Fun fact I really truly thought I'd only be gone for two weeks :-). I'm feeling extra grateful to be back and posting this week - our whole world has been changing rather quickly, and it's been weird not documenting the process through these videos - I'm excited to continue sharing our adventures through 2023, even if they look a little different than I thought they would lol. Tis the season for change I suppose. Anyways - I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday + new year season, and we'll be back sometime next week with another video 🎄🎉

HI Mariah, My husband and I enjoy watching your journey with your cute pup. My husband is a retired Chief from Cal-Fire, he is concerned about your new doors on your truck blowing shut on you on a windy day, he's seen people get seriously injured from and gust of wind slamming the doors closed. That was just ONE of my first concerns as well 😨 i personally wouldn't have gotten giant doors that have to be opened like that. But I'm sure she'll figure out a way to secure them 🙏🏻💯

When you stop for the night . Go through the opening that you made from the box to the cab and if you take your seatbelt and loop it through the hand, wrist on the door and then loop through it and bring it back and lock it in on both your doors. It’s kind of a safety feature that their truck drivers do.

Yeah I’ve seen a lot of other truckers do that but I realized that it just slows down how fast someone can open the door. So I tie a piece of cord between the two doors or a short ratchet strap

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe also a little tracking collar. My senior dog has to have one because he does the same thing lol.

That's why I have a 200+ lb dog. we have rescued 2-3 peeps with little dogs surrounded by coyotes lol

I am not sure quite where you are beyond the Sierras but here is a tip. I suspect the recent rains in California will have reached Death Valley. This means it will have the once in 20 year desert flower bloom. It would be really wonderful if one of the travelling youtubers could film this for us. If you are already heading more north then you will have to skip it. Best wishes for your journey.

I am so glad to hear you are back! I understood wanting to take time off for yourself and Finn. Taking care of yourself is always the priority before everything else. I am excited to see where you, Finn and Steve's will go for the next adventures :) If you feel you need time off to yourself. Don't be afraid to take it. A recharge is always a good thing. Most of us have forgotten how important a recharge to a human body is.

When you have a moment drive onto a Cat Scale at a truck stop. They will ask you if it’s your First weigh..you say yes. Then they will ask you for a truck number…you make one up. Then they will say ok and you go drive off the scale and park. Go inside to the counter and tell them your truck number. You will get a ticket with the weight. I say this, because you saw a sign that read no trucks. They are trying to save the roads and bridges. So they may have a weight restriction. If you know how much you weigh, you will get away with it, if your under the number. Good luck! Stay safe.

Glad you’re back after taking time for yourself. I’m 24 and my life is so vastly different from a life on the road. I do live vicariously thru your videos though, helps settle the need for travel some in my soul. Thank you. Been watching you for a year now and it’s been great. Its refreshing to see a traveler eating from a can, I was homeless for around 2 years , it was canned beans or soup and #2 in a bucket.

I am so glad you are Ok. I and am sure others were concerned that you were all right. I fully understand about needing some time off to reset. Many years ago I lost a job unexpectedly, corporate reshuffle(was told I was safe). I took time to try to figure it out and a friend gave me a push in another direction. Whether or not it was the right one doesn't matter, I was back to myself, which is what you needed. I have relocated several times, no place is perfect, but as long as your happy with the situation, that is all that matters.

keep your eye on your pup when in the wilds lots of animals bigger than your pup looking for a meal. yeah i know you don't really want to hear that. just pay attention at all times and keep your doors locked when in your truck. you two stay safe.
