日本語の初心者を対象にした日本語学習動画です。日本での生活で必要あるいは知っていると便利な表現を学び、練習できるように構成されています。
The videos give lessons for asking directions and prices, shopping at various types of stores such as convenience stores, electrical appliances shops, pharmacies, ordering food and payment at a restaurant, extending invitations to do various activities. Also socio-cultural issues are explained in a one-point advice section.
＜ストーリー＞
インターネットで日本のことを調べているうちに新潟県南魚沼市に興味を持ったグエンさん。来日を決意し、南魚沼市及び周辺地域のさまざまな場所を訪れます。地元の人々との出会い、交流の中から、生活に必要となる日本語及び日本事情を学んでいきます。
＜Story of the video clips＞
The heroine, named Nguyen, lives in a foreign country. When she is checking out the information about Japan, she is interested in Minamiuonuma city, Niigata prefecture. After that, she comes to Japan and visits some places in Minamiuonuma city and around that area. She meets some local people, and studies Japanese language and culture, which she needs to live in Japan.

I needed this video a week ago. After studying Japanese for 4 years in college, forgetting most of it, then restudying for 6 months and going to japan for a week I was certain my Japanese was on par for these types of situations. Then I walked into a Family Mart and she rambled off stuff so fast I froze and looked like an idiot. Simple things like asking if I wanted a fork or chopsticks, words I have learned by heart were completely unrecognizable the way they said them and just when I thought I had one phrase mastered they would ask me something else like if I wanted a bag or if I was paying with cash or card. Of course, a week later, I have mast of these phrases mastered, but your video does a pretty darn good job of showing just how quickly they ask and say things in stores and restaurants. It may even be a little slow compared to some of them.

What does the goriyooni mean in "hashi o goriyooni narimasu ka" ?

The phrase in question, goriyoo ni narimasu (dic. goriyoo ni naru), is an honorific verb phrase which is a politer version of "to use",which is commonly used by a clerk addressing the customer in a customer-clerk situation. "o-tsukai ni naru" is a variant of the same politeness level.

おあずかりします。 The お......しますstructure is humble keigo. The verb is あずかる (預かる) which means to take care of, look after, take charge of, be entrusted with. The ます form is あずかります. To change it into the humble form take the ます base of あずかり and insert it into the humble structure: おあずかりします.

I have a question ✋ when the clerk says "it'll be 280 yen" i expect to hear nihyaku hachijuu en, but I keep listening back to it and I hear something like nyuu hachijuu. is there a different way to say 200 besides nihyaku or am I just mishearing?

Thanks for the inquiry. Yes, you correctly noticed that "h" is almost non-existent as it is actually very weakly articulated. This is a variation which is widely used among ordinary people, not by professional actors with voice training. What's happening here is that "niyaku-en" is reconstructed in the brain of the two parties as "nihyaku-en". It is similar to the case where the utterance of "There is a red car in [fronoff] the house." is reconstructed as "front of" in your brain. I hope it makes sense.

How do you even hear "nyuu hachijuu"? I hear "ka" and "te" sounds, which aren't part of that phrase at all, and I certainly can't hear a "ch". The subtitles claim that the woman behind the till is saying, 「メーカー手順ですね」, which is pretty much how it sounds to me, too, and Google Translate tells me that this means, "It's a manufacturer procedure."

Dear Mari Ohara, Thanks for your inquiry about the meaning of ごりようになりますか。ごりようになる（ご利用になる) is the dictionary form, which is a second person honorific or respect form (sonkeego尊敬語), of the neutral verb 利用する（りようする: to use）means the same as 使う（つかう：to use）. So the phrase in question literally means "Do you / intend to use or have an intention of using / the item?" and figuratively, "Would you like it?" as a natural English expression. The phrase is often used in customer-clerk situations by a shop-clerk to a customer. The variant is お使いになりますか。

You can develop a certain level of proficiency of any language if you set up micro goals e.g. I want to say "terima kasih" or "sama sama" in Japanese, and learn under the guidance, e.g. a local Japanese classes or personal tutor who are Bahasa native and good at Japanese. Complete self-study has its weakness particularly in production i.e. speaking and writing, as the learner cannot tell whether they can make him/herself understood. Good luck, anyways.

@@TubeIUJ Completely agree, currently using self learning to get a start and get the basics down so I can at least somewhat understand a video. But I can 100% see the usefulness of a tutor much better, because this symbols are so hard to write and the courses online pronounce a word in many different ways ( even if its the same sentence! )

@@dheosbo Well "ありがとう" means thank you, and "ども" can mean hi/thank you/very ,depending on the situation and context it is used in. So all together it means thank you very much. But "ありがとう" should only be used be used between friends or people you are really close to, as it can come off as rude. I'm not a Japanese master or anything but I just wanted to share some of my knowledge 🧍‍♀️🤸‍♀️🧍‍♀️.

I would really suggest getting rid of romaji and just go full hiragana and katakana ileven for beginners. Learning those 2 shouldnt take more than a couple of days of practice.
