There's more to it than that. Nissan didn't want to try and meet U.S. requirements for emissions and safety. So they didn't try, therefore it wasn't legal to sell in the U.S.

The U.S. Government didn't ban any of these cars. the companies that made them never tried to market them here in the U.S.,so the cars never went through DOT certification process,

That Audi RS6 is a monster, and my personal favorite, but I always have to give props to the R34. That's back when Nissan was at the tip-top of their game.

LOL 1997???? They were in the process of barely escaping bankruptcy. If it wasn't for the Xterra and Frontier, there probably wouldn't be a Nissan anymore, at least not in the USA. Peak Nissan is late 80's

That's because in 98 they sold it... They made some fast stuff after that and some ok looking cars don't get me wrong... but it's very unreliable and made with shittier medals and structural designing

Drove 4 of the Renaults in the docks to the Renault compound in the docks in Southampton from the ship early 2000's. Several of the splitters needed to be replaced as they were damaged getting them on/off the ship. The ramps had to be altered for the next batch.

R340 Lotus reminds me of my high school English teacher's 1960s VW convertible with the top down,,,and without fenders. Guess they were going for a 21st century Lotus 7 look. Ended up with a 21st century beach buggy look. I bet it's fun as hell though!

My neighbour has the Renault Megane RS CUP, trophy edition... The Renault Clio's loud big brother. He tells me that it makes him smile every time he turns the key of his daily drive race car. It makes ME smile too, every time i hear it LOUDY start and I'M in my house! Feels like warp factor 5 when he guns it. He's had it chipped and mapped too. Sick rims too

These are old (I'm muscle car fan too) and I'm not sure if they're illegal in the US but they are extremely hard to find is the Canadian Arcadias One based on the 1966 Chevy II with the L79 327 (11:1 compression 375 hp) and another based on the Chevelle SS 396, both came with 4 speed manuals. They look more like Pontiacs than Chevy's and are hard as hell to find, I had a friend in Toronto that moved to Quebec that was searching for me but only found one of the Chevy II's but it had a 6 cyl. I could have gotten that and just stuck a V-8 in it but I found a Nova SS and just bought it. Anyone who's ever drive a high compression 327 4 speed would understand the desire, on top of none being in the US it would just be an awesome muscle car to own.

First choice would be the TVR. Canada has had at least one TVR dealer (in the past)and Saab ‘wagons’ (sportcombi? Is it different?). Which car would I love to be made available? Probably the M5 Estate or the Brabus 840 Shooting Brake (think of a Benz CLS ‘station wagon’!). It was a great list, many that ai hadn’t heard of (Yes - GTR and Clio). Thanks for the video.

Technically... Actually you "can" own any of these cars in the USA . Its called GRAY market. All it takes is $$$ and a very expensive inspection and temporary modifications that are later removed.(and bribe) The Skyline is not banned... It was never DOT approved for import into the USA , dang dude. That's why when you see them around the USA, they are usually with foreign plates.

Holden UTE SS-V, Holden is Chevy's Australian division and the Ute is like a El Camino. And with a 6 l. V8 putting down almost 400 HP and lB with a 6-speed manual it is a beast.

Even though I'm sure the shifter is awful on it, I'll take the TVR Sagaris or Typhon. Raw driver's car that's lightweight and has a great engine. I'll take a maxed out Renault R5 Turbo over the Sport Clio, but Clio is another cool car.

Metro 6R4. Smaller than the Renault Clio Sport V6 but with a 3 litre V6 (basically non turbo version of the engine in the XJ220) built for rallying 4 wheel drive 450 bhp or more 0 to 60 in well under 3 seconds. Being a rally car 250 had to be made for the road

I am an American living in Germany and I am fortunate to own a Nissan R33 and a R34 GTR. The 33 is legal in 2021 in the USA but you have to wait till 2024. Both mine are/will be sold to some lucky American. May all your dreams come true by 2024. Thanks for the video.

Everything’s at a premium in Japan. Gas is for the last 10 years hovering around $7/gal. A $100,000 Carrera in America is about $160,000 here. My last Porsche was a ‘90 C4 which I paid $120,000 new and added an Albrex supercharger, oil cooler and 928 brakes for an additional $10,000+. It was dyno’d at 458 hp and would leave Turbos in my mirror. Marriage, kids... drive a Honda now but going to Toyota as Honda is a woke company. (So is Porsche.) Vote with your dollars, folks.

The Renault Clio is a Rally Car in setup. Rear-mid engine, very short wheelbase (for tight turns). Don't know if it's AWD, but most Rally racers are.

If you want an r34 all you have to do is register it in Canada and then you can drive it wherever you want because in Canada we only have to wait 15 years to get vehicles.

They aren't banned, it has to do with different safety regulations and emissions, it can be brought over and fixed but has to be taken care of to clear customs.

With all of these cars they are legal to own but illegal on the roads. Technically we can have them for track use, a show car and other uses other than driving on public roads.
