Incredible how their instinct to swim is there even at such a young age. Uncle Garrett is definitely the best puppy whisperer. I just adore these fluff balls.

It's all about our attitude and behavior. A pup is nothing but a reflection of his human parents. Meaning, being kind and understanding to your pet (among other things) will create a confident, self assured and warm pup.

Do some research on Labradors as a breed. They were bred to swim years and years ago. I think in Portugal.

@@251rmartin Yeah and it's a natural response in every dog I've ever had. Doberman Pinschers, Miniature Pinschers, Shar Peis, and even unknown mutt breeds. They all paddle automatically.

Omg my dad and my grandma did that too. I was trying to jump in the pool and knew how to swim a little like I won’t drown but still wouldn’t consider knowing how to swim. My grandma pushed me in and I was crying so hard.

You're an ape. Apes and giraffes are the only mammals that can't swim. Humans can learn and end up swimming better than most land mammals.

After my parents failed miserably with our last dog with socializing her with other dogs and people, I took it much more seriously with our current puppy and he's handling it really well. It's important to give them as much experience as possible so they aren't petrified of everything. Especially smaller dog breeds which are anxious to a fault.
