Thanks for all the amazing tips! tips I use: -If bananas start to go soft, I peel them and put them in a gallon freezer bag for smoothies or banana bread. -every time I buy a whole chicken, our family gets at least four meals out of it! We eat the meat, the first two meals, then I put the carcass in my instant pot along with veggies. I need to use up, a few peppercorns, and a few peeled cloves of garlic to make bone broth. Once I strain out all the meat, bones and veggies, I can usually find another cup of meat pieces, which then go in tortilla soup. The bone broth is fa more nutritious than what you buy at the store, and has less sodium! -I shop my fridge before I make my grocery list and meal plan for the next week. If there is an item that didn’t get used from the previous week, I build a recipe around it to make sure it isn’t wasted. -I buy gifts when on sale! My kids are young, so we are invited to an average of 20 birthday parties each year. When I notice a gender- neutral toy that my kids really enjoy, I wait until it goes on sale for less than $10 and then buy at least five! I keep them in a box under my bed and I’m never caught off guard when an invitation comes.

I believe in meal planning. I have made a life style change but to save on groceries I find recipes I can make into single serving freeze able dinners. On the plus side if a new recipe flops I have a back up dinner to fall back on. I also have a cheap dollar store planner book that I write in when bills are due. When a bill is paid I highlight it.

I used to meal plan religiously when my children were at home, and we seldom ate out. But then our children spread their wings and left the nest! Just my husband and me, more money available (how did THAT happen? Oh, yeah, kids not at home 😂) and we began eating out more. Then retirement came for us both. And now I’m back to meal planning! I am using those menu cards I made 30+ years ago to help with this, and shop every 2 weeks, either on Tuesdays or Thursdays, my local grocery gives senior citizens an extra 5% discount on those days! I buy meat in bulk and repackage it for 2 servings, just enough for us. I forgot to put down that we will be gone 3 days this week, and now have 3 extra meals for my prepper pantry! Love your videos! That blue is so flattering to you!

I do meal plan which saves money and I keep a gift idea list in a notebook and a list of what I bought for each person per year so I don't accidently buy the same item twice. Works like a charm.

Hi Jennifer. A lot of good ideas here. I start my Christmas shopping early, I keep a list of gift ideas like you do. I pick up things like candles, fluffy socks, lotions and matching sprays when on sale in case a need for a gift pops up. Plus I crochet, so I keep a supply of crocheted dish cloths and pouches to put the gifts in, I crochet pretty scarves, shawls etc "just in case", and I keep a supply of blue and pink baby blankets. Someone always needs one for a gift. I check you tube, type in the ingredients I have and find a recipe to make using what I have each week. It's fun to make something new and I use what I have. And of course, I watch You! Lol

Great ideas! You can check for leaks by looking at your water meter. There is a dial that shouldn’t be moving if all your water is turned off. If the dial is moving you probably have a leak, or your outdoor tap is not turned off completely.

I feel the same. I love to cook fun food, but my kids just like the boring plane stuff. This year we are trying regular food from around the world, so each week there is a new country. Just simple, but still more fun to cook for me, food 😊 on saturdays my husband cook whatever he like and on Sundays we safe the food that is need of saving.

Last night I made turkey gravy from bone broth I made cooking the turkey carcass and vegetable scraps, cut up turkey in the gravy and put it over mashed potatoes. The potatoes were free, I dug them from a local potato farmer who allows the community to dig for free. I had some homemade cranberry sauce on the side, I have enough for 2-3 more meals and it all cost a couple dollars……and it was delicious !!! Learning to cook from scratch and making healthy cheap wholesome meals is the best thing anyone can do for themselves and their family ! Thrift stores are full of Bread machines for $5-10, homemade bread is cheap and soooooo goooood !!! No added preservatives, excess sugar or salt, just pure fresh delicious bread. If you get in the habit of making bread, buns, Carmel rolls, cinnamon rolls, cinnamon bread and more for less than $1, including the electricity …..I promise you will never buy a $4-8 loaf of bread again ! I’ll share a yummy no fail recipe if anyone wants it, a friend shared it with me. Anyhow, good nutritional food doesn’t have to be expensive or hard to do ! Blessings

I have a grocery list already written. What I mean is all the essentials are written on the list, and each week, I cross off what I don't need instead of the other way around. I also have a list of the ingredients needed for the usual meals we eat. So, if I'm really busy and drained out, I just take our the grocery list and Usual list to make my list. Way easier. Also, I have a list of what I want for a gift, but I know people likes to do surprise, so when they ask me what I want for a holiday, i give them a list of things I need/want but they can choose from a variety. For exemple, tea, coffee, soaps, candles. It lets them choose and I know I will use it. Almost 3 months since Christmas, and I didn't buy soap for our family yet ;).

In the summer I hang them out and winter I hang them inside, saves a lot on the electric bill and I love the smell and feel of air dryer crisp laundry :) My washer broke so I had to go to the laundromat, I had 6 loads and didn’t have room to hang them all in the house so I had to dry some in the dryer…..it was painful to push that button 🤣 But I divert the heat inside in winter so it wasn’t a complete loss :)

I batch my errands. If I have a Dr. appt., I run all my errands that are in that area. I keep lists, and buy only what is on the list or what I need. I do not comparison shop, except on line, saves gas and time. I do shop on line for some things that would be more difficult to find locally or too heavy to carry, like kitty litter, etc. I shop at thrift stores, and know what days are their sale days. I am very aware that I want to remove clutter from my life, I can enjoy looking at things in the store, but buy intentionally. Extra things do not come home with me!

I checked my bank accounts and credit card accounts every day to make sure there are no mistakes. Also balance my checking account every day in the Quicken program on my computer. This way I can spot any discrepancies as soon as they happen or if I’ve made a mistake somewhere or forgot something. The other day instead of entering a $5000 transaction I entered a $50,000 transaction. Which showed me $50,000 in the negative.

I do get a lot of value out of my Kindle unlimited subscription. I have poor eyesight so I need to make everything larger and I can do that within the Kindle app even on my telephone. I read 162 books last year and I’m on about 75 this year. I won’t top last years but that’s still a good number of books. I love to read.

Agree with all of your comments especially meal planning and meals. I keep them basic, easy to batch cook but then enjoy trying something new when I fancy it! I make a birthday budget and buy all the cards I need in one go at the beginning of the year from a good value card shop. I save £50 a month in a regular saver to pay for Christmas presents which I budget for at the beginning of the year. I also use the notes app a LOT, or nothing would happen 😂! I make a fresh zero based budget each month and we don’t buy anything unless we’ve saved for it. I too went into serious debt in my 20’s with loans, credit cards, store cards, etc! I’m no in my 40’s and am still learning new tips and tricks daily ❤ Thank you for your channel, very wise words! I can’t understand why more people don’t live like this! We’re living more and more frugally so that we can choose where our money goes and teach our daughter to not make our mistakes!

It’s really hard to investigate your past and finds out how much money we had wasted and how many things, we can do that money if we had saved it. I paid too much money in NSF. I could had good car or clothes with that money cashed. But I always say to myself it’s never too late to start fixing things.

Hello. One recent new habit I have been implementing is grocery delivery services. Even though they charge a bit for the delivery (not that much), I can stick to my budget and what I need. I used to over spend A LOT on groceries and didn't use the delivery service because it would cost me more, quite the opposite, it's actually helping me save and meal prep.

I shop for groceries and non food consumables with cash. The coins this generates in change are saved weekly when I clean out my purse, then taken to the bank at the end of the month-- the bills I receive in exchange for the coins are my "allowance" for eating breakfast out monthly with my sister-in-law--this produces more cash than I would have expected and I don't look like I raided my children's piggy banks, either.
