We can always choose between working harder or working smarter. Learning English is no exception, the more we practice the faster we can implement new techniques. Just put your mind into it and use these secrets to help you in the journey!
(1) Set yourself targets and have clear goals
To maintain perspective and stay motivated you need to bear in mind why you’re doing what you’re doing. What are your targets? For example, being able to study in English, to learn a new language, etc. What are your goals? How long do you want to spend learning English, how will you know when you’ve got to a point that you’re happy with?
(2) Don't read at first
Audio and video are always better than books to study from as you can hear the right pronunciation. If you see new words in a book, it can be difficult to know how to say them. Usually this means your pronunciation will be really bad.
(3) Don't translate 'word for word'
If you’re translating every single word that you hear into your native language then you’re really slowing your progress down. Instead, hone in on the words that you do understand and use all the contextual clues happening in the conversation, from gestures and facial expressions, through to any images or actions that are taking place at the same time.
(4) Forget about writing
You don’t need to learn to write. How much of your daily communication is speaking / listening? How much is reading / writing? That’s the same balance you should use when learning English.
(5) Take an online course
Taking an online course that can help to keep you focused as it gives you a reason to show up and concentrate on your learning. Pick a topic of your expertise and try to master your English in this field.
(6) Forget about perfect grammar
Perfect grammar is important if you plan to write in a language. For speaking a language fluently, it’s not as important. Learn the basics of sentence structure and that’s all you need.
(7) Listen to everything
If you listen only in the context of strict grammar structures or words on their own then you’ll find it harder to progress. It’s far better to learn to understand phrases, as this is what will give you fluency. You can do this by listening to English films, TV, audiobooks and radio - you’ll be able to pick up on understanding actual English rather than book learning.
(8) Practice English every day
Motivation is want really matters! There are a wide range of podcasts and available applications online that can help you learn English quickly. Find what you like and practice every day.

Im a Finnish person and i learned fluent English in 2 years :D And i didnt even try to learn it. And you are now asking how i did it. It is really easy. 1. Just listen and read the language that you are working on. For example just only watch videos with the language you are learning. You dont need any translating. You dont need any help. BUT i promise someday the words just suddendly start to make sense in you head and you start to suddendly learn the language EXTREMELY fast.

I couldn't agree more on number six: Forget about perfect grammar. I've been trying to use perfect grammar for quite some time now, yet it only frustrates me because up to this time, I still make a lot of grammatical mistakes especially when I talk to my colleague at work, who is from the UK. It's super true that seeking for perfection in grammar only slows down your speaking ability. In other words, it definitely holds back your fluency, and that's what happens to me.

Great advice Marina. I do totally agree with you, studying English doesn't need to be perfect as long as you can express your thoughts, and people understand what you said. If you always worry about your grammar that might cause your hesitation and slow improvement. And be consistent practice every single day, so you will reach your fluency.

The method for leaning new words that you suggested was mostly superb. I like reading publications, but when dealing with unfamiliar words, I would translate to my native language. Your technique will enable me to read more and learn instead of translating into my home language. Thank you very much!

I hope that practice and discipline would help me to reach my learning goals. Answering your pinned question, I really enjoy learning English every day as well as other languages, I'm dreaming to become a polyglot.❤️ Thank you so much for this video, it's really helpful!

great Video , I'm really interested in your videos , my level in english currently is C1 but just grammarly , because I don't see myself improving in my speaking skills , and Since you mentioned in the video that we need to practice english every single day , I thought that it would be a great idea if I record myself speaking english for like 20 minutes , because I don't live in an english speaking country so I can't find anyone to practice my language with. I'm also doing this because I need to pass My TOEFL test next year , soo wish me luck :)

Hey! I am 15 yo student from Pakistan, where unfortunately you can't always find practising partners. In addition to being an enthusiastic reader, I'm great at writing English essays, especially fantasy. But whenever I try to speak with like, a teacher or someone else, I fumble and falter. Your videos have been very supportive, but they conflict with my daily life. Online course, schedule full (O-level sucks). Your advice in listening to English audio, movies etc and imitating the dialogue was completely awesome. I was just like, "OMG, it really worked". As far as creating a youtube channel goes, I am uncomfortable with it but I will try my best to implement on it. The main thing I am lacking is confidence. Whenever I try to speak, the words just, like slip out of my mind. So can you make a video about how to build self-confidence while speaking? I will be ever-grateful
