I'm 5'3" and ever since Shea pointed out that ballerina shoes make short people look stubbier, that's how I feel when I wear them 😂 so for me it only Rothy's points as far as flats go.

@@chihuahuamama1443 personally I think loafers are much worse at making you look stubbier. Unless you are tall and have skinny legs/ankles very hard to pull them off and even then it’s a masculine shoe

@@diannesironic5025 I agree, I’m not a huge fan of them either. That’s why I said I only wear Rothy’s points as far as flats 😁 but I did like the look of The Who What Wear pointed flats that Shea showed in this video. If I could find a similar pair from a better brand, I’d wear those too.

I think what is truly "out of style" is allowing other people to tell you how to dress. While I may agree with some of these due to the shoes listed not resonating with me, if I loved the chunky boots, I'd wear them! True style is finding a way to make your preferences work for you! A good "recommendation" video to give people things or options to consider.

Well they're her opinion and what she'll wear but her recommendations are to me just options. I'm not going to any shoe store or shoe department to buy what she's suggesting anytime soon. My other shoes still fit but I'm going to limit wearing any pointy toe shoes for health reasons.

Every year I go to Paris as my husband’s is a Parisien. Every year I head to Repetto to add a pair of ballet flats to my collection. I wear them with dresses, jeans, leggings, shorts and skirts. Considering the brand has been around for many, many, many years and has a huge chain of stores, I would say those ballet flats are too classic to go out of style any time soon.

I agree Repetto IS a sure winner (though pricey ballet shoes) but they are top quality and will never go out of style. Having said that I am French so perhaps biaised 😉

The problem with ballet flats is the round toe. You don’t have to go loafer. It’s a completely different style. Instead go with a pointed-toe flat shoe. There are many right now which are pretty and classy.

The basic, round toe pump will never be "out", in my personal opinion. Plain, basic pumps will simply blend into any outfit you wear, for office or date, church or club. Loved all the rest. Neutral colors, very little ornamentation, they all work with a range of outfits, and as long as they fit well, will not go out until they wear out beyond repair.

The trend doesn't be in or out for me except they are comfortable, affordable, strong and healthy. The pointy toe reshapes your toe direction. Shoes should match the natural shape of feet not force them to evolve and hurt while and after they do. Pointy toes are a no-no for me and the verdict is out on the round toe but square toes whether they're in or out I'll go back to them.

The main reasons why I keep a pair of “cheap rubbery flip flops” is because I need them for showers when using shared space (hotels, rental houses, etc.), and that I like to have a cheap pair of shoes for the beach/pool. Anyone else??

I will never get rid of my rubber flip flops for the exact reason you mentioned! I always travel with a pair because they're great for the pool, quick trips to the hotel front desk and on a fall visit to Amsterdam, it became unseasonably warm and I was able to wear them around town with jeans while my travel partner was miserable in a pair of ankle boots.

I'm sure she meant not to wear out. Of course you need rubber flip flops for showering/beach. But when people wear them out and about they are pretty bad. Especially when worn with a dress.

I love pointy toe shoes but sometimes they are not comfortable. Ballet flats are comfortable. Flip flops are for the beach/pool. I think we should wear what makes us comfortable and happy♥️

Ballet flats in the 00s and 2010s completely messed up my feet. I wore the ones with the very thin sole and no support or cushioning. I do have joint hypermobility so that may be a factor.

Nae Vegan Shoes has beautiful and feminine loafers. Plus a lot of other classic and trendy styles. Their vegan leather is top quality. Looks & feels like real leather. I absolutely love every pair I've purchased.

Style is what you make it... Wear what makes you feel good and if it looks good on you, rock that ish!! Notice, she gives HER opinion of what's out of style. Everything that she's presented has revolved through the fashion world many times over the years. Especially the square toed shoes, which we wore in the late 80's and early 90's. Point being, keep your ish and wear it because it'll still look good on you.

No way are ballet flats out of style. Forget it. As for loafers - you do you but they aren’t for everyone. Super preppy. I just do NOT ever even try them on in store. They aren’t even on my radar. It’s a hard pass for me.

I don't know how no one is mentioning that the square toe is very 1999 - early 00 😅 At that point in the video I realised trends are really stupid. Everyone should just wear what they like and find most comfortable.

I agree with you! I loved wearing the newest styles and colors of shoes. I am 63 years old. I now have several major health problems and now I can only wear shoes that have less than 2 inch heels. And I have never worn pointy toes or square toes. I watched this video because I do like shoes and it interesting to see other folks' opinions.

I had the Madewell Chelsea boots and returned them because after one wear, the bottom detached. Bought a pair of Blundstones and never looked back. They're pricey but actually hold up in the rain and look great.

Hi, nice review. I like that you specify that for you ballet flats are out of style because it’s your personal opinion. Ballet flats are a classic wardrobe staple for decades and are never out of style in the larger fashion world sense. Ballet flats and loafers are both staples. I have both and wear them as the mood strikes or by what looks best with the outfit 😊

The Chevonne rainboot from Ugg is what I lived in last winter! They have that awesome Ugg sheepskin lining, so very soft, warm, and some squish. I have wide feet with a tall arch, so finding rainboots I can actually pull on and that don't cut off circulation to the top of my foot is difficult, but these are perfect. I wore them even when it didn't rain, because they were matte, and kept me warm.

Loved this - you made me laugh & learn. Note however that I am retired and l have foot issues. I am keeping the ballet flats, my round-toe boots & shoes, my polka dot rain boots (they make me happy), and my one pair of wedge boots. They may not be “in style” but they are “my style.”

I felt pretty stylish until the ballet flats came out 😳 Ballet flats are my signature shoe! So, I guess I’ll be off trend until they’re back on trend. (And I thought those crazy rain boots went out of style ten years ago 🥸)

I’m currently working on a Chanel Make up counter, and the shoes we must wear are the flat ballet pumps with a bow, the ones in your video. So really, I can’t agree at all that ballet pumps are or should be out of style.

Eh, I wasn't really a fan of her choices. I like some flats, not necessarily the style that she showed, but yeah. Wedge heals are good, and I'm not feeling the box toe style.

Yep, and some feet do not look good in square toed shoes/ slip ons. Those ones at the last part look like they are worn by high schoolers with knee high socks and plaid skirts 😅

It would be nice to see high fashion style shoes meets function especially for people who have bunions. It is always easy to be fashionable without bunions but if you do choices become very limited.

Was literally going to say the same thing. Women have been wearing shoes that shape since at least the 1800's, so I don't see them ever going out of style. Best way to spend my money imo.

I love the Chelsea style rain boot, I’ve gotten tons of use from them this spring and summer. Everything from actual rain, to yard work, walks by the beach when it’s a little chilly. I’ve worn it with cuffed jeans, leggings, and dresses. It’s a really practical shoe that happens to look cute with a lot of ny outfits

I'm still wearing my ballet shoes. I love them and they are timeless. I'm short also. I think most of her picks were too masculine-looking. They may be in style right now. But style is a personal preference. I do like a lot of her tastes , most of the time.

I have bad feet so I have to stick with certain brands. That being said, it makes me buy more classic shoes. I don't think I'm a trendy person and I'm fine with it.

I’m with you. Some of those sandals might be trendy, but they offer no support. I’d rather be comfortable and treat my feet well than be trendy. Our feet carry us all day, so treat them well.

Very true that flat flat shoes are not really ergonomic or supportive so that's another thing to consider if you want to care for your spine... But like for an evening out that you'll be sitting a lot or a specific party... It's fun to try something different... Even if very rarely... Although some people get joy from their routine and consistency so that means not trends I gues

Agreed. I was sensing the old lady feeling, they're great alternatives for bad knees backs and hips which are usually women in mid late age. Or the men's shoe department cutting in with loafers.

I will never give up my ballerinas specially Chanel or similar!! Trendy shoes or clothes are here today and gone tomorrow but ballerinas can be worn to the supermarket or to a party. OMG so comfortable and always terrific looking specially with jeans or a trench!🥰

The gladiators are still in but look different being more wrap around straps. Those brown sandals are so not attractive. They look like the sandals from the Sound of Music. I also disagree with the rubber flip flops. The Havaianas are always a summer staple for years to come. 😉

Steve Madden made a pair of platform penny loafers with a 3 inch chunky heel in the 90's. I wish I still had them. My favorite shoes to this day...

Not sure how “trendy” this actually is, but I prefer the Sperry duck boots over regular rain boots because I feel like those can also be worn rain or shine and they’re more stylish than galoshes.

Please wear what you want. Don't follow fashion trends. They are just there to make you spend your money. I'll tell you what's in. A woman walking with confidence, loving everything she has on. No matter what I don't care if you are wearing shoes from the '90s. If you walk with confidence people are going to tell you you look good. Confidence is key and everything. In everything you do. So many of the trendy shoes that you demonstrated are from the late 60’s and 70’s! I remember them well! One thing the pointed toe shoes unless they are made better now will cause corns on your little toe and the one next to it. I really enjoyed your presentation of all the shoes. I’m sure i will see my granddaughter wearing most of them.

I use to wear "Mary Jane " chunky-stein shoes to Elementary school. Im almost positive the square toe will be out of style soon. Loafers are nice and they have affordable pointy style flats at Target I also like Moccasins, it's the comfort.
