An old friend of mine (hi, Dave!) had the only Neo Geo I have ever seen in the wild, and he had King of the Monsters on an actual arcade board that could be plugged into the console via an adapter. It was an unwieldy thing to see, but the game was such fun!

You know it's a deep deep cut when MDickie doesn't even get a mention for being too mainstream.

I’m old enough to remember back in the 1990’s THQ released Pitfighter, a game so appallingly woeful in every department it received some of the lowest scores ever from the gaming magazines at the time. Yet even THAT looks better than Extreme Wrestling!

One weird Wrestling game that comes to mind is a game for NEC's failed PC-FX console *"Zen Nihon Joshi Pro Wrestling: Queen of Queens" (All Japan Women Pro Wrestling: Queen of Queens)* that combined FMV's of the AJPW women with wrestling gameplay (just imagine Dragon's Lair mechanics during a wrestling match), which might be the worst combination for a wrestling game. Something similar actually somehow worked with MicroLeague Wrestling (for C64, Atari ST, Amiga and PC), but since this game was from 1987 (and maybe even the very first WWF-licensed game) there wasn't any true FMV's to be found, but rather some kind of slideshows with actual video captures from WWF matches using something like a menu system for the wrestling moves. There's also the SNES game *"Zen-Nihon Pro Wrestling: Fight da Pon!"* that combined AJPW wrestlers with some kind of board and card game hybrid. And of course there's the long running *"Wrestle Angels"* series that even started as some kind of eroge game on various japanese computer systems as well as Apple Macintosh (the last game was released for PS2). The games of this series are more like strategic games with wrestling matches based on card game mechanics. The few FMW games are also weird. *"Onita Atsushi FMW"* (SNES) is just a regular poorly made fighting game. *"Itsudemo Doko Demo: Onita Atsushi no Seiji Quiz DS"* (Atsushi Onita's Political Quiz) for the Nintendo DS is just a political Quiz game presented by the former hardcore wrestler and disgraced politician. Weirdly enough despite not being known for such games Squaresoft's Wrestling series "All Star Pro Wrestling" (PS2) is pretty solid. Only the first game (which was a japanese PS2 launch title) is a bit weird with baffling controls (ether purely digital or somewhat gesture controlled using both analog sticks), the other two sequels have more traditional controls and the last one (ASPW III) IMO is even the best looking and best animated PS2 Wrestling game.

The funniest thing about Rumble Roses is that after you got done polishing the silverware there was a pretty solid wrestling game left for you to play. Also, Kaiju Big Battel should have had several more video games than it currently has. Also also, if Hybrid Heaven can make the list where the heck was Blue Stinger? Dogs Bower is the greatest video game wrestler of all time.

I absolutely love the deep cut, baby. I've gotten to the point where I don't have time to play games, but still enjoy them. I discovered What Culture a month or two before you announced your departure and was a bit sad that I missed all those good times, but glad I would have a new channel to enjoy your content. List features allow me to experience the most interesting aspects of many games, and the deep cuts just expand my repertoire of video game experiences. I did not enjoy the Spring Showcase because it felt like video game trailers were being regurgitated at me with very little added. As much as I hate to say it, I don't much care for videos narrated by Nathan Byrnes. I would like to think I'm an kind open minded individual, but I just can't get past his accent. His writing style is just fine, but I struggle to understand that he says. I hope I'm wrong and I'm just a dumb American and maybe in time I'll come to enjoy his videos as much as I do yours, Jules.

The 40K takedown as a finisher

As a massive wrestling game fan that's building a nice collection of wrestling games...Extreme Wrestling is one I ended up buying late last year (it was on sale for $2). I don't even think you're selling it enough just how bad the game is...I can't believe someone at Sony even approved it being on the platform (then again with how much shovelware is on there, the dev of Extreme Wrestling likely knew he'd get away with it). Yet...I still played it long enough to get all the trophies lol. However, now I want to play this Hybrid Heaven game. Looks interesting.
