Just finished my 2nd run of Disco Elysium Final Cut last night, such a great game. If you want to experience a trip and a half with loads of laughs invest in Inland Empire (mine was 10 by the end of this run), Shivers and Half Light.

Why the hell are we remaking games that aren't even that old yet? Just remake games from 2 or 3 generations ago which had jist e few too many flaws and make it better

I'm 2190 days subbed to FFXIV. (yes... 72 months lol) and whenever I'm doing something I absolutely know wasn't the way the devs want the game played, I think back to Megan from the video game sitcom 'Dead Pixels' saying to the new kids. "you're playing it wrong..." and imagine the devs sitting there watching me shouting that out to me.. Because FFXIV is definitely designed with the intention that "you WILL play this game the way we want you to.. Or so help us, you won't enjoy it!"

It will be interesting to see if people are willing to pay full price for a re-release. I’m sure some will having never played the original but if there’s not much changed, I will not.

It's normal. I don't think we should celebrate it, or maybe we should because the devs aren't greedy af? But we should shame corps who are greedy to the deepest depths of hell.

Good point about the 100% pursuit. At some point, I realized that I play games to get away and have fun. If I’m not having fun, then it’s time to give the game a break. Not to say that a game needs to be nothing but fun all of the time, but I’m very aware of the point of diminished returns when it involves my free time.

Thanks, Jules! I remember spending a chunk of the summer of 90 (91?) playing Crystalis... Specifically I remember having to get out some graph paper to map out some dungeon that was pitch black. I'd also put a rock band together, I should have been practicing my guitar! After I spent so long beating that game, I sold my NES and all my games🙄

With all the games in the world, i NEED to do EVERYTHING in my first, and HOPEFULLY LAST, playthrough, and move on to the next game... Not enough time for multiple playthroughs, if i can help it... I still enjoy myself almost every time

I would change "don't 100% games in 2024" to "don't try to 100% any game claiming to be AAA." Animal Well is definitely worth 100%ing as was Turnip Boy Robs a Bank, Lorelai and the Laser Eyes, Pepper Grinder and a bunch more. But of course those are all indie games that are reasonable in what they expect from players.

I'm 46, and man, I hear ya about guides but I also have come to the realization that I have maybe 30 years of life left and life is too short to be stuck on gaming puzzles I could simply look up a walkthrough for. I was all about "get gewd" when I was playing games on the Atari/NES/PS1 in my teens and 20s but with my like 20 hobbies I need to maximize my time. I still have like 200 games to play on Steam after all.

Completely forgot about Dark Castle, loved it back in the day and apparently I was lucky enough to play it on a Mac. Didn't know it had issues with other systems. Showing my age, lol, 40+ years of gaming and wouldn't have it any other way. Completely agree with Disco Elysium, once in a generation game. That's a list you could do games, quality and experience that will never be matched like Red Dead 2, Balders Gate 3, Disco Elysium, etc, etc. Once in a lifetime games.
