I was at first interested in the Ibanez, but the sound from the HB, is in my ears better. More defined

I actually wanted to buy the Ibanez RGMS8 but damn the Harley Benton MultiScale-8 sounds super heavy.

RGMS8 owner. Sound is OK, selector 5 way is interesting BUT really tired of the heavy and thick body.... Don't like heavy guitars. I'll change sooner, maybe for HB.

Siccck! Is the HB heavy? Kinda a concern for me. To me lighter guitar sounds a bit more open and more resonant. Which then makes it a good mod bed

I actually think the HB sounds a lot better, and has way more clarity to my ears. I’m also a little biased and don’t care for EMGs

The HB def has more clarity but also less bite, i think that´s a personal preference tho :)

The Harley Benton straight up sounded better in the demo. Those pickups sound brighter and have better low string clarity.

I was in almost the same situation than you did. My first 8 was an Ibanez RGIR28FE, I sill have it yet never played it a lot and never been able to set it up the way I like. Then comes the HB (mine is QEB finish) and ... That guitar is incredible given its price tag. Half the price of my RGIR, and set up as I like straight from factory ! Plus, even if the pickups are not the best, they still sound decent and have more clarity than the 808/81-8 of my RGIR (and a bit less bite). Soooo ... 400 bucks, plays very well (got used to that one in less than 15 min), sounds well, looks amazing. Only a pickup change may be required to me (probably a custom set of SP Custom Savage Beast, like my RGD2127FX has been fitted with). Bargain ? Yes !

They actually sound the same to me but the HB maybe has slightly higher treble which I prefer.

Well, actually I think the harley benton sounds better😂, maybe I'm not a big fan of active or very high output pickup, I tried emg707 before it's chug but doesn't have the bite i want from a passive. Honestly, for a 400 guitar the pickup is not even bad, considering a pair of seymour duncan is probably the price of this whole guitar
