About Djokovic’s double golden masters, he also won all the slams and atp finals twice, making that record even more unbeatable. Also if he wins monte carlo and Cincinnati one more time which is quite possible (he won 2 of his last 3 tournaments in cincy), he would have the triple golden masters. Of course they won't talk about ND 9 wins from 9 finals...He has suffered more losses there compared to Nadal at RG has been pushed numerous times to 5 sets, whereas Nadal has played I believe only 3 5 set matches....So it is NOT worthy of a mention at all.
@heavypeki
@heavypeki Жыл бұрын
@@jmilne5751 Note that Nadal 3 losses at Roland Garos are constituted from 1 Soderling and 2 (TWO!) Djokovic, whilst Nadal never defeated Djokovic at Australian. If you look H2H at Roland Garos, Nadal leads Djokovic 8-2, while at Australian Open is 2-0 in Djok favor. Which only explains how consistent Djok was on Nadal's favorite GS and surface, he managed to go deep into the tournament quite often, while Nadal failed so many times to reach semis or finals at AO. Just shows how complete and all around player Djokovic is. Nadal's records at FO are ridiculous and will never be broken, but he is unarguably less complete player than Djok in every term. He always plays his game no matter the opponent and surface, he is one dimensional. He is beast, no question about it, but one dimensional beast. While Djokovic is much more complete and can adapt and change tactics, he is like a an AI that improves every time opponent improves, sometimes seems literally impossible to win against him, like a computer. Another proof is double career golden Masters, double career slam, non calendar slam, and 5 ATP finals, while nadal played 10 ATP finals, won 0, and also lacks 2 masters. Anyone who puts Nadal in front of Djokovic just because of his clay records is plain stupid, because tennis is not only clay. You have to play all three surfaces to be the best, you cannot just ignore 2 out of 3 and completely dominate 1 surface and call yourself a GOAT.
@jmilne5751
@jmilne5751 Жыл бұрын
@@heavypeki It amazes me how much detail you forget to mention....Nadal loss to soderling was due to injury. An injury that kept him from Wimbledon. Look at the records that showed injuries to Nadal during majors...there are lots of them. You also forgot to mention that Nadal has more US Open majors than Djokovic on Djokovic favourite surface & even has 2-1 H2H at US Open to him...You forgot No Olympic gold for Djokovic, Nadal youngest to win 1st major, youngest to win all 4 slams, so stop sprouting that Djokovic is the better all round player... His stats ONLY look good because 2 of 4 majors are on hard & most ATP tournaments are on hard as well. If Djokovic was such an all round player & the GOAT he would have ALL the records...but he doesn't & yeah he is BEHIND Nadal H2H in Slam matches & finals....

Majority of these are held by the big 3 which speaks volumes of domination by them. However, the only record that seems ‘unbreakable’ to me is the 14 French Open one. Nobody has loved Nadal more than the court Philippe Chatrier. Federer’s 237 consecutive weeks is also the example of sheer dominance for straight 4-4 1/2 year. Djoko’s double career masters is also a specimen of its own. I mean to win all the masters twice speaks how many variety’s of gameplay that man has mastered. Simply Incredible!

What makes the Nadal record so astounding is that the French Open is really the toughest tournament to dominate, historically. Because the rallies are so much longer, and defense is so important, it tends to be won by younger guys, and it's easy for an outsider to grind his way through the mix. Michael Chang and Mats Wilander each won it at 17, for instance. Borg was barely 18.

I think that winning every Masters at least twice is more impressive than the slam records. Slams are five sets. and if you have better fitness, you have a huge advantage...like all the Big Four had. But it's easy to lose a three setter, if you run into a player who is in the zone....an Isner or a Karlovic, for instance. But Djoker won them all...and he won them twice. Everyone is trying to win the Masters just as hard as they are trying to win slams, but no one has come close to a single Masters sweep, never mind a double.....

I mean, there is a chance 🙂 optimistically speaking, but in reality, not that much.

Alcaraz's record is near invincible because of what it required to happen. If circumstances were normal, it wouldn't have happened. But between Djokovic being banned, Nadal almost exclusively playing slams and winning them, and Wimbledon not having points, it set up crazy scenarios for world number 1. Look no further for proof than the fact that Casper Ruud could have become number one if he made the finals and lost as long as Alcaraz didn't make the final. To put into perspective how crazy that is, he would have been world number 1 without a single title in his entire career above ATP 250.

Ruud obviously would have won at least one GS to become No.1 so that's not entierly true. You can't just make up some hypotheticals that never happend this way and then say: look how crazy the scenarios have been.

@@radieschen79 he didn't have to win at least one slam to become number 1. He just had to make the final, which he did, and Alcaraz not make the final. Could you, please, elaborate on how you came up with 53 matches win-streak for Borg? According to my data, the longest winning streak in Open Era belongs to Guillermo Vilas - 46 matches. Borg shares 5-6 place with Federer - 41 match each. Also you did not mention the real reason the streaks are harder nowadays. The structure of the tour does not allow to play lesser tournaments in big successions, because on the week when masters are held, there is no other tournaments (just like with Slams). It was different in Borg's time and players had more choices in where to play.

It should have been very conceivable at the time that someone who could play on all 3 surfaces would break his record (Rafa and Novak are halfway to lapping Sampras for Pete's sake). Borg didn't compete at the Australian and retired early. If it wasn't for that, Sampras doesn't even have the slam record. Whoever ends up with the record between Rafa and Novak will be unbreakable because there is a massive gap between the big 3 and everyone else. There has to be a gap for a record to be unbeatable.

Winning 105 straight points without an UFE is impossible. If you won 48 points in a row, you won two sets. If you won 72 points in a row you won three sets. I think you must mean that he PLAYED 105 points in a row without an UFE. Which is relatively easy against Isner, since he takes the racquet out of your hand with his big serve and first-strike forehand....so it's hard to make an UFE if you can barely touch the ball. AT the same time, if you can hit some pretty good serves and forehands yourself, like Roger clearly can, John is not going to return many, since he has the lowest break of serve rate in the ATP. Where was the match?

Every win counts, and wins at Grand Slams, because they are worth more ranking points, and the competition is toughest, are extra special. Note that Nadal 3 losses at Roland Garos are constituted from 1 Soderling and 2 (TWO!) Djokovic, whilst Nadal never defeated Djokovic at Australian.
