Are you saying they were a narcissist because they actually were, or because they were mean, gaslighting, arrogant, in denial, or unrelenting despite being wrong? There's a huge difference. Either way, I'm sorry you had such a bad time. Not everyone is like that, and there will be someone who appreciates and cares for you in a positive way, as long as you're always being mindful of yourself and looking to better your personality and overall behavior. Growth can be much more beautiful and substantial than initially perceived, and it can garner fruitful outcomes such (in this case) as a healthy relationship without toxic undertones or childish behavior resulting in hurtful fighting and childish behavior that stunts resolution to issues and growth as a couple. Good luck out there; there is always good in the world, no matter how dark and destitute things may appear. Take care of yourself.

Sexlessness. Sharing a bed with someone who doesn’t acknowledge you are a sexual being hurts so much. I was in a sexless marriage for years. Being a woman with a high libido, I felt inadequate. Worst I feel invisible. The man who was “supposed” to want me, just didn’t. We talked about it many times, more than I can recall now. It was always me. I wanted too much - once a week was too much for him. I didn’t initiate - he was always complaining of headaches, stomaches, always stressed, always tired. I was too sexual - when being subtle doesn’t work, what is next? Explicitly saying I wanted sex. Oh but then it was not appropriate. Conversations would end up with him saying he didn’t feel desired or I made him feel emasculated because he didn’t want sex as much as I did. Yeah, it was always me. I could never win. While we were dating we would have a decent amount of sex, it was good. The first huge red flag was not having sex in our honeymoon - which I ignored. It rapidly decrease to once a week, then every other week. Years gone by it was months in between, by the time we divorced it was over a year with no sex. I cried myself to sleep more times that I can count. I didn’t understand what was wrong with me. Was I that undesirable? Was I repulsive? After those conversations, I just stopped trying, initiating, mentioning sex. We were still loving - holding hands, hugging, kissing - but sex was off the table. He then cheated on me. Swore he had sex only 4 times in a year (or more) long affair. It didn’t matter. For years my self worth was damaged by him, years of low self esteem, years of feeling less of a woman, the marriage that was more than over, waiting in hospice, really ended. Funny how things are, I asked him for a divorce, he manipulated me into staying, next day his infidelity came to light. I was out as soon as I could. Best thing of my life. Additionally, That feeling when your partner cheated and you don't have the courage to leave him / her so you just death with the pain and live everyday asking questions about your worth. This pain is different from the cheating one_living and seeing him everywhere anticipating when he or she do it again. The best thing is to hire a private investigator Digitalinvestigate@gmail. com to help you spy on their cellphone remotely just like he did for me...

When dealing with narcissism, you should know that it’s not personal. “It isn’t personal” is one of those cliches used to cushion all kinds of bad actions taken by people who need an out for being immoral, but in this case it actually gets near the truth. Narcissists don’t know how to love or be a friend; they can’t afford to spare the energy to learn, because they’re always in a state of high emergency, cataloging potential threats and redoubling their defenses. When they claim to love you, it means nothing. They may even think they mean it, but they don’t understand the concept - they can’t feel it. They never attach to you or anyone else. Other people are paper cut-outs to the narcissist, like those cardboard figures of celebrities you pose next to for a selfie. Narcissist value their own children only as mirrors of themselves. When they destabilize you or attack you, it means nothing. They are stuck in an endless conversation with themselves, in which you are an inanimate object, to be assigned their own faults and used as a surrogate punching bag for their hatred of themselves. When they toss you out, it’s no more meaningful than a junkie tossing away a needle; when they try to reel you back in, it only means that they tired of the new drug and need a hit of the old. None of this is personal. They’re too terrified to have personal relationships, opting instead for extraction of admiration from a subservient partner whose range of action they strictly constrain. This is not personal. None of it. The narcissist does not know who you are - it doesn’t know how to know other people. Like the vampire or the chainsaw-wielding creature in the horror film, it’s from another world, bereft of the concept of human connection. Moreover, People wonder why they end up hurt, seriously hurt, and even killed for their own actions. Cheating is a choice and there’s simply a lot of ignorance in the process.... Thank you so much for helping me out Metaspyhub@gmail. com. Your advice and services helped me so much. You are a lifesaver !!! Took me learning WHAT a Narcissist IS- to realize my oldest sister IS ONE. At 70yrs old, I found out I didn't owe her 'respect' just for being the eldest child, that 'respect' is EARNED...NOT A TITLE!! I then learned about BOUNDRIES and have become an expert at ENFORCING them. Saved my self worth and I stopped living to meet her expectations😁👍🏼 "I" say when we talk or IF we even talk at all. Just learning to say "No" to her has been Life changing ❤ for me, especially. Her daughter was the one who got me to see how I had been used & manipulated ALL MY LIFE by my sister. Hallelujah!!! I'm MUCH healthier now. And guilt-free of meeting Her beck and call. Better late than never 🎉🎈🌈

I was married to two men who were narcissistic. I had no idea what narcissism was or what it meant. However, I read a book about the topic and wept for hours! These men I chose to love nearly destroyed me and their children. It’s not harmless….it’s not a pill away from recovery…. it’s not okay the damage they’ve done to my life. Thankfully, I no longer have had to endure those relationships and I am FREE!!! I believe there was something else going on in my second marriage, but he was better at manipulation and keeping secrets. I thank God for helping me to finally let go of them because I did LOVE them with everything I had to give. Honestly, I look back and it was a nightmare! Both times!!! Now I focus on my adult children and my grandchildren and help them…..trying to teach them all about the ways of God. That they can make better choices for themselves and they have. Please keep your heart, mind, and body safe. You don’t deserve to be treated the way you can be treated by the narcissist. You fall in love with the person you “THINK” he or she is. It’s ALL fake….RUN!!!!!

Problem with those with NPD is once the individual with NPD reaches adulthood they cannot be forced to go under a psychological assessment unless they become a danger to themselves or the people around them. Since this is the law here in Canada it is best to limit the interaction with the person who has NPD as one's own mental health may be also at risk and ones own mental health should always be the prime priority.

After my ex of 7 years left me 5 months ago, I learned over time that he does have possible NPD. When I watched this it freaking resonated. The main factor is he did not have any regard for my hurt feelings when he just kicked me to the curb and he had no regard for any of my friends. The funny thing about him is he does attend therapy but he does not go regularly. He only goes whenever he feels pissed off that someone did him wrong. Guess people with NPD that attend therapy do refuse to get themselves treated

I have a Behavioural Science (Psychology) degree & have been doing a deep-dive into narcissism (among other psychological topics) for around 35 years now. I was also raised by someone who I believe has undiagnosed moderate grandiose narcissistic traits with comorbid OCPD who married a HSP codependent enabler with a fawning trauma response. And I must say, that I think that this is 1 of the best concise descriptions of narcissism (NPD specifically) that I have seen in some time. There are far too many "lightly-informed enthusiasts" out there, imo, who are dramatically oversimplifying an incredibly complex topic which can have a great deal of expression variability & specific individual nuances. Well done to whoever put this together.

lots of these traits in some profession, like business/ sales. pain to work with too. A kiss asser when you don't work with them, then they dont listen. One guy even called himself a pm when he was an entry-level. Had ADHD and a slow learner compared to others, lack of due diligence and understanding. He brown-nosed the boss and clients. Yes we tried to help him, but he just wont acept accountabilities and change. A client even took him off a job. The office eventually took responsibilities away from him, since he would go rogue and make decision without consultants other senior members, plus lack of knowledge, carelessness. He was layoff when thing got slow. if he stayed in his entry level position and not try to undermind the real PMs, he could learn. But a guy with a few years experiences knows more than a 30 yr PM. Unbelievable behavior.

There are many different reasons why people may behave this way. One possible reason is that they themselves are insecure or insecure and try to control or manipulate others to feel powerful or better about themselves. They may not have the ability to empathize with others' feelings or respect their boundaries. Another possible reason is that they have a lack of understanding of the concept of consent and don't really understand the importance of respecting other people's choices and boundaries. They may think it's okay to force someone to do something they want, without understanding the consequences or the harm they can cause. It is important to set boundaries and not allow yourself to be manipulated by such people. It is also important to communicate clearly and respectfully to try to explain to them why their behavior is not acceptable. Sometimes it may be necessary to take additional steps, such as talking to a supervisor or other authority figure for help in dealing with the situation.

They absolutely do lack real self confidence, self worth and they are very lonely. I know it's difficult to understand because they are so horrible. They would be the last ones to admit that they lack confidence and self worth, but it's a mask they put on to hide what's really inside them, not just from others but from themselves as well. It starts in childhood, like they said either a child is constantly ignored or praised excessively. Either has a chance of creating a narcissist, because the child doesn't learn healthy self worth and they get a very distorted perception of the world.

Narcissism as a trait is on a spectrum... NPD, narcissistic personality disorder is a disorder, which is wholly different. NPD pervasively affects all aspects of the person's life and they struggle with interpersonal relating...due to inability to perspective take and low emotional intelligence. People are like avatars, a means to an end for those with NPD. Those who don't have NPD want reciprocal relationships and can be honest and vulnerable. Those with NPD can't.

A mother-in-law with NPD is a mighty enemy and a frightening one. The offspring's partner will pay the consequences, but the most damaged one in this configuration is the very own son/daughter of the narcissist. If you love someone who has to deal with such mother, be kind and loving. Their nightmare is already bad enough.

I do feel like i have some traits of narcisist personality but others i do will respond on this commment acordingly with the 8 traits Trait 1 - I don't need to be the center of atention neither i do feel more important than others i'm quite oposite i tend to listen to people with more experience than me and see their prespective and what i can learn with them , also as a introverted person i don't like to be center of atention at all Trait 2 - Others opinons about me do affect how i feel about myself and self esteem and i also need Validation from others alot of the times just to feel good about myself, Altough i'm not envious of other people achievements etc but i do feel envious/upset when someone treats me with condescending tone and for other people they talk normally. Trait 3 - I do feel a bit of entiltment but not in the way i think this is explaning i don't want to be the center of the attention altough i feel like i need to have entiltelment to having people have some respect and not be disrespectfully to me, but i don't feel like i need to be treated better than other people i just want mutal respect. but feeling important certinly is a great feeling but i don't try to be number one and neglect the rest Trait 4 - I feel like i do find intelligent people more interesting and i do like to learn from them maybe for my own gains , but i feel like if a person overally have intersting things to say or funny that also caughts my attention and i listen to them Trait 5 - I do tend to achieve my goals as much as i can on my own but recently i need help to find a car that i have all the money to pay for it and i see myself messaging family members i do have a ok relationship with but i feel like i'm not close to them because their response is very dodgy when i ask them for this type of help and i end up feeling bad about myself because i feel like i didn't gave them enough value for them to help me or maybe. Trait 6 - I care about others but not to a point i need to be constantly helping them, i don't wish any bad things to happen to other people but also i'm not the kind of person that is overly altruistic and is allways there Trait 7 - When i know i messed up i do say i was wrong but there are times where the other person is just wanting to be right and mock me about being right for their own ego i don't apologize on those cases and avoid that type of person soo as long as the person is colaborative and non toxic i don't have trouble admiting i was wrong Trait 8 - I do focus on myself alot i have this quote i made until my cup is full i can care about filling others cup, i have a goal to achieve my natural pottential physique, to make alot of money without working more than 3 hours a day soo i can have a confortable life without stress and make my mom happy and retire her Conclusion: I do feel like overally theres few people i care about, and i'm most of times not interested in other people especially if after i met them they ask me for favours, and also i'm soo focused in my own achievments that if i get like a favour that takes me out of my routine it makes me feel upset but if takes like few minutes and the person asks politely and appreciates my help i don't mind I actually feel happy because the person asked me for help with respect instead of asking for help to me like i'm a souless robot or keeps askings for favours without saying please or thank you, if i don't feel aknowledged i feel upset , I'm probably not narcisistic but i do focus on myself goals and aspirations alot

I work in mental health. True Narcissists don't ever wonder/concern themselves over the idea that they might be a Narcissist, they usually only recognize it after severe consequences in life. What you're probably dealing with is BPD (borderline personality disorder) with Narcissistic tendencies due to growing up with a Narcissistic parent and you gaslight yourself in trauma bond after trauma bond until you're questioning yourself constantly. There's a certain man who exhibits all these traits. He has a swish of orange hair on top of his head and is possibly facing wearing a jumpsuit to match. I think we all exhibit some of these traits at times but our empathy and love for others corrects our behavior and we apologize for our mistakes. I've never heard a narcissist apologize for anything they've done and it's always someone else's fault. Again, who does that sound like? Maybe those who want to be friends with a terminal narcissist are narcissistic themselves and looking to hob knob with the billionaires to improve their self-worth.

While I appreciate the sentiment, that is a sweeping brush and the research simply doesn't back that up. There are narcissists and people with NPD who didn't experience childhood physical abuse or witness their caretaker being abused. Many factors including temperament are thought to contribute to the formation of narcissism and its pathological, diagnosable form, NPD. It's generally agreed upon however that the genesis of the disorder is in childhood maladaption to stressors, so in that you're bang on.
