These commercials aired on NBC on September 19th, 1986
1. CrossLand Savings
2. Salada Naturally Caffeine Reduced Tea
3. Nissan Trucks
4. Promo for "Throb" (Featuring the voice of Don Pardo)
5. "Friday Night Videos" Intro (What a lineup!)
6. Michelob (I know that these ads were obviously influenced by "Miami Vice" but it does feel a bit too on the nose to use "In The Air Tonight" in one of these)
7. TV Spot for "Crocodile Dundee" (One 80's movie that I definitely saw parts of as a kid but have never revisited as an adult)
8. Care Free Gum
9. Papermate Metal Roller Pen
10. Dippity-Do (WARNING! This might just be the most concentrated 15 seconds of 80's that exists. This is the pure, uncut stuff. 80sCommercialVault is not responsible for any medical conditions that may arise after viewing this ad)
11. Snickers
12. Lenvie Parfum Shampoo
13. Diet Coke (With Willard Scott and Marvin Hagler. Not sure who is playing the sax or who the model is)
14. McDonald's
15. Mandee (A clothing chain that is now mostly defunct, with nearly all of the 5 remaining stores located in New Jersey. With Garcelle Beauvais)
16. Diet 7up
17. Nike Air (Featuring NBA players Charles Barkley, Buck Williams, Moses Malone, Alvin Robertson & Sidney Moncrief)
18. "Friday Night Videos" Commercial Bumper
19. Promo for "ALF" (WOW a promo for the series premiere! It's hard to imagine a world before ALF)
20. Combos (Up until a few months ago I wasn't even aware these were advertised with TV commercials, but here's even more evidence!)
21. Always Plus (9:52 Pulling off that "rich heiress at a funeral in the 1920's" look to a T)
22. WNBC 4 New York News Bumper (With Jack Cafferty)
23. Colgate
24. U.S. Army
25. Twix (With George Newbern)

"Crocodile" Dundee was the surprise hit of 86. It came out of nowhere, yet was number one at the box office for 9 weeks straight, from it's launch on September 26, all the way to Thanksgiving weekend, where it got knocked out of the top spot by Star Trek IV, another Paramount release. In fact, according to Box Office Mojo, from the weekend of September 19th (Top Gun) all the way up to the final weekend of the year, the top movie in America was a Paramount release during 86. Fun fact - The reason why the word "Crocodile" is in quotes in the title is because the studio was worried that people would think the movie was about an actual crocodile, so they suggested putting the quotes.

ALF was definitely one of my must watch shows when I was 9 back when it premiered. It looked like such a fun show to do. Reports would later come out that the show was anything but. Due to the difficulty of building a show around a puppet, the filming of the show was very difficult, and tensions were often high on the set. In particular, Max Wright (who played Willie, the father of the human family ALF lived with) hated playing second fiddle to a puppet, and is reported to have once gotten so stressed during a filming that he physically attacked the puppet. There was no joy on the set, and the actors were happy to have it end. Supposedly when shooting wrapped on the final episode, Max Wright just left without saying goodbye to anyone.

That Michelob commercial was like a short film. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see if Don Johnson would hook up with Kelly LeBrock.

Salada Naturally Caffeine Reduced Tea- Impressive animation on the tea cup, reacting to the different types of tea bags being put into it. Papermate Metal Roller Pen- I get “Honey, I Shrunk The Kids” vibes watching this commercial, especially when seeing how small that man is next to those giant pens and the ink trails they leave.

. . . Is that early Hi-Fi I hear? Whoever first captured this REALLY invested. And we're benefitting from it, almost 40 years later! :D

Seeing the ALF promo reminds of the NBC line up for Monday night. I remember Amazing Stories and Alfred Hitchcock Presents also aired on Monday Night.

Amazing Stories and Alfred Hitchcock Presents aired on Sunday nights during the 1985-86 TV season on NBC. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1985%E2%80%9386_United_States_network_television_schedule Amazing Stories *did* move to Monday nights for its second and final season, but Alfred Hitchcock Presents was cancelled after the first season...eventually returning on USA.

The best thing to ever happen in the 1980s(up to the point of this recording) since Rubik's Cube, Nintendo, multi colored Converse All-Star high tops, Bull Shannon on Night Court, Balki & Larry on Perfect Strangers, MTV, Nickelodeon, & Ronnie James Dio. And it shows up at 9:19 37 years later, it got a 24/7 marathon on Twitch. 2023 became the resurgance of popularity for said Melmacian. Sitcom or animated series. ALF is forever the best thing the 1980s had to offer.

9:01 “ALF”. Alf was one of those strange… events that blew up and then imploded just as quickly. It had comics, a Saturday morning cartoon, music albums. I think it's still big in Germany. As for the show, apparently no one liked working on it. I think just about all the actors kinda gave up acting after that.

Another video of peak 80s between the Dippity-Do and all the guest stars for FNV's 3rd anniversary! Plus ALF! I'm going to count Mandee as well as I remember those commercials well being from the area! Combos were advertised in the 80s but I remember the 90s ads more as they were on MTV and American Gladiators all the time with the Parker Lewis style transition cuts at the end!

1:34 - Geez, this line up is pretty much 80s pop culture summed up in a nutshell at the time, save for perhaps Yoko Ono.

shoutout to combos, I have a very specific memory of picking up a bag (likely pepperoni pizza) and renting Mechanized Attack on NES so those snacks always remind me of that game, oddly enough.

That model in the Diet Coke ad does look familiar, but it could be cause she feels like a quintessential '80s model.

OMG, I would love to see this 3rd anniversary special of “Friday Night Videos,” if it is available on KZfaq. Also, I am drinking a Michelob Ultra while watching this set, so 2:50 feels pretty meta.

Friday Night Videos-with YOKOO,ONO! (R.I.P Whitney Houston and Tina Turner) Michelob-"This fall, the night belongs to..Michelob P.I." "Crocodile" Dundee-that wasn't a knife,it looked more like a machete!😂 Dippity-Do-they looked like background characters from a Judge Dredd comic..was expecting Dredd himself to appear at the very end Mandee-with Garcelle Beauvais ALF-he doesn't like to discuss his costar Max Wright these days...

The main spokesman for the Nissan commercial looks very familiar. Almost like a very young Barry Jenner of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," but I could be mistaken.

Hi 80sCommercialVault, what's your favorite year for 1980s ads? My favorite year would be 1986
