These commercials aired on ABC and NBC in the fall of 1983
1. "We'll Return After These Messages" Commercial Bumper (Commercials starting here were recorded on ABC on 10/23/83)
2. McDonald's (With Hot Wheels...interesting that they weren't free Happy Meal toys)
3. Mickey Mouse Talking Phone (Come over here for a potty? No thanks...)
4. From Me To You PSA
5. "We'll Return After These Messages" Commercial Bumper
6. Cabbage Patch Kids (This was the holiday season they debuted on store shelves, causing the terrible Cabbage Patch Riots of 1983: en.wikipedia.o...)
7. Bubble Yum (With Avery Schreiber, Bruce Glover and Richard Moll)
8. ABC Salutes Special Kids
9. Time For Timer
10. "Monchhichis" Commercial Bumper
11. "We'll Return After These Messages" Commercial Bumper
12. Cap'n Crunch (With free Surfer toys)
13. Golden Melody Books
14. Captain OG Readmore PSA (Don't think I've ever posted the long version of this before)
15. Promo for "The Littles" "Rubik, The Amazing Cube", "Menudo" and "Pac-Man"
16. "Monchhichis" End Credits
17. ABC Station ID
18. "Smurfs" Commercial Bumper (Commercials starting here were recorded on NBC in November of 1983)
19. Alvin & The Chipmunks Stuffed Animals
20. SpaghettiOs
21. "Smurfs" Commercial Bumper
22. Honey Nut Cheerios
23. Play Doh Fun Factory (I WANT YO SPAGHETTI)
24. Barbie Dream Cottage
25. Reese's Pieces
26. "Smurfs" Commercial Bumper
27. My Little Pony Show Stable (I actually had no idea that the toys predated the original 1984 cartoon special, I had always just assumed they came out at the same time)
28. McDonald's (With Hot Wheels...again)
29. "Smurfs" Commercial Bumper
30. Pioneer Chicken (With digital sports watch offer)
31. KRON Station ID
32. Masters Of The Universe Trap Jaw, He Man and Battle Cat (I've posted this before...I'm still a bit disappointed about the "string not included" aspect)
33. Masters Of The Universe View-Master Gift Set (Wow, the first time I've posted an ad for any View-Master stuff. It's kind of weird how little they advertised this ubiquitous 80's toy. It seems like all of the ones I had were either scenes from random Disney movies or views of National Parks)
34. Matchbox Car/Truck Stop
35. "Smurfs" Commercial Bumpers
36. G.I. JOE Sky Striker
37. Hubba Bubba
38. 6X6 High Risers
39. Star Wars Return Of The Jedi Plush Ewoks (Yub Yub!)
40. Rub-A-Dub Doggie
41. "Smurfs" Commercial Bumper
42. California Egg Advisory Board
43. KRON Station ID
44. Donkey Kong Cereal (Wow, Mario saying "Here we go!" 13 years before Mario 64 in a pretty similar voice)
45. Dizzy Drivers
46. Get High On Yourself PSA (I'd like to think Paul Newman had a better singing voice than that flat monotone stuff at 18:15 and that they just caught him on an off day)
47. "Smurfs" Commercial Bumper
48. Cap'n Crunch (Sorry for the dupe)
49. Happi Returns (I think this belongs in a horror movie)

Nowadays it's surreal to see a PSA advising 10-year-olds on walking home unsupervised after dark (without cell phones) but I remember it being that way as a kid. Parents could go hours not knowing where their small kids were--so glad I got to grow up when that was still possible

The dark irony is that it was far more dangerous on city streets back then compared to today. Crime rates in the early-mid 80's were astonishingly high.

@@80sCommercialVault It feels like everyone is always fighting the last war; every gets used to low crime rates so they are more permissive even as they creep higher, then the next generation are paranoid from high crime rates so they always see danger even as they slide lower

It's crazy. Growing up in the 80's (I was ten in 83) 37 years later and these jingles and have not heard them since, they come back at you like you never missed a beat or a lyric. And ya gotta love the He-man commerical.. sting not included.

I had that Wicket the Ewok doll. The main thing I remember is that the Wicket doll had a Velcro hood that you could remove. And when you took off his hood, my brothers and I could not help but think he looked like the gopher from Caddyshack, which had started airing on TV around the time. And so, my brothers and I would often play a game where one of them would pretend to be Carl Spackler (Bill Murray's character in the film), and I would use my Wicket doll to play the part of the gopher. I actually remember playing this game more than I do playing his rightful role in the Star Wars Universe.

Unlike many of the 80's commercials online, this one really brought me back as we had ABC Saturday morning cartoons in Canada, and I remember a lot of these. It was funny watching the Disney Phone...I thought it was stupid back then too. These commercials were really cool to watch (again).

1:50 - At least at the beginning, they were acknowledging that it was a pretend adoption, instead of like in the later commercials, where everyone is freaking out over the kid "adopting" a Cabbage Patch Kid.

Excellent set here showing the prime of early '80s youth life and a sort of innocence before MTV really went mainstream. GI Joe, My Little Pony, Masters of the Universe were all new and not yet repetitive. Star Wars was still popular even though "Return of the Jedi" had come out and was considered the end. I was still young enough to watch cartoons on Saturday morning and not be expected to do anything else.

Santa brought me the Mickey Mouse talking phone for Christmas that year. I remember crying because I couldn't actually talk to the real Mickey and Donald with it. I think I still have the orange van and the Firebird Hot Wheel from the McDonald's commercial. I remember playing in the bathtub with that cheap prize in the Cap'n Crunch box. So many memories in this volume. Thanks for uploading them!

There is only one thing I don't like about some (note some) 80s cartoons now that I'm an adult looking back at them, aside from writing quality (that's always going to be a problem when you're not in the target demo); but the poor use of leitmotifs, it just feels like they're adding in music that is unnecessary for the sake of not having quiet.
