OK, time to send data - we joined the cell, waiting for the AP and it's PCF to be done. Now, it's our turn. Let's dive into the Distributed Coordination Function (contention time!), go through the CSMA/CA access method, update our Network Allocation Vectors, decide on RTS/CTS or Duration and then handle hidden stations.

great video. But isn't missing what happens when there are collisions, i.e. we don't get our ACK, CTS oder see after the DIPS that the channel is busy?

Ahhh, good question. Well, part of that is the difference between CSMA/CD and CSMA/CA. With wireless we can't detect collisions so they just appear as interference or missed transmissions. CTS/RTS is not on all of the time and so the result is transmissions - and there is a retry flag as an indicator to help with this. Hope this helps.
