thank you, I feel like this is the only Hidden Terminal Problem video on KZfaq that drew the Ven diagram correctly.

IKR, every other video keeps a shared area between the ranges of two nodes and have the audacity to say they cant detect each other

Explained perfectly. A sends a packet to its neighbor ( B ) asking for permission. B grants but sends this grant to all its neighbors so they know not to transmit and ruin the transmission. A will then transmit once the grant is received and all others will be silent until transmission ends.

What happens if A and C send RTS at the same time?
@HowTomakeitdone
@HowTomakeitdone 7 жыл бұрын
Those two RTS packets will collide at B. B will not receive any of this because of collision packets will be destroyed.

Great vid! What would happen to the NAV vector of a 4th node, in range with C, but not with B or A?

what if a and c both request a RTS ? then wouldn't CTS broadcasted mean that a and c both will be clear to send data and thus collision will occur?

Even though, A and C fail to detect collision, B actually could, right? So does that mean the collision is detectible?
@HowTomakeitdone
@HowTomakeitdone 8 жыл бұрын
Node B will receive a garbled message (corrupted message) thus B would know that there were some interference during transmission from source. There is no provision of ACK/NAK. There will be collision on B but senders will not stop transmitting. This hidden terminal problem occurred if csma/cd is used. In CSMA/CD if sender doesn't sense any collision then it won't stop transmitting.

At 2:46 you said because of the limited range csmacd will not work. Don't you think it is actually because of the fact that all the 3 devices used the same channel here and medium is shared in wireless?

nicely explained. How will C know that it can send the data now?
@HowTomakeitdone
@HowTomakeitdone 8 жыл бұрын
+N00BRIUM When A requested B by sending RTS, at that time B replied using CTS that CTS packet contain duration for which their communication will continue. Now this packet also received by C and C would know that duration of A and B conversion. So C will try after that duration by sending RTS packet to B.

it is quite hard for the RTS packets or CTS packets to collide as they are extremely small but there is a super small chance.
