These commercials aired on ABC on February 8th, 1982

"The ABC Monday Night Movie" Commercial Bumper (I posted ads from the same broadcast of "Superman" previously in Vols. 439-441, but these come from a different recording from a west coast affiliate. Only the last half of the movie and a bit of the show following it was on the tape, but several of the ads are different)

Thanks for including the “Let’s Get Physical” intro. I thought that I was watching an 80s yoga class at first. ONJ is a super classy lady with a great attitude especially in the face of her cancer.

I remember this time when they first aired Superman on tv . Coming back to school it was all my class mates could talk about. Man, how times have changed. If it was a favorite movie, you had to wait till it aired on tv. We never even got a vcr until ‘86. We truly treasured these moments.

This was the network television premiere of Superman. Quite a big deal! I'm sure we've all dreamed of jumping over suitcases at one point in time.

For some reason I remember those Hertz commercials but I was born 7 months after this.. I turned 37 yesterday in fact.. Did they show those throughout the 80's possibly?

I miss this idyllic time. Star Wars had not yet completed, as we knew it then anyway and playing with the toys wasn't limited by the knowledge of the conclusion. It was about a year before we got cable with HBO and Cinemax (where I would later see "Cannery Row"), and MTV so I was still seeing network shows like "The Fall Guy" and "Hart to Hart." I remember getting Olivia Newton-John's "Physical" album.

I actually remember these ads our abc affiliate is still komo 4 and oh man so cool to see those commercials again especially one of my faves fall guy Americas greatest hero and mcdonalds mcnuggets right when they first came out

Exactly.Last week I got a Pan Pizza, and it was......disappointing.I ate maybe 2-3 slices, and just let the rest sit and go bad.The bean counters took over a long time ago, cutting corners, lowering quality and making up for the lost customers by flashy ads that bring the kids in who don't know what good pizza tastes like.

Michelob-nowadays Dan would text her to meet him after work Happy Days-the classic"Fonz meets his idol,the Lone Ranger" episode Pepsi-girl had a creepy stare.. The Jerk-HE HATES THESE CANS!! Superman end credits-gotta love that very last one-"NEXT YEAR-SUPERMAN II" Hetrz-OJ probably also dreamt of owning a white Bronco.. Olivia Newton-John Physical-had Baywatch been around back then this probably wouldve been her audition reel

@ 6:40, I never heard that jingle for Juicy Fruits. It isn't catchy and not in the same class like it's superior successor jingle

If some of these are the same commercials, I’m not sure I want to risk repeating the same jokes. Although, I don’t remember saying, “Dang, Rene Russo”. - I guess I might as well mention that I remember that GE soft bulb commercial airing a lot. That is underrated when mentioning good commercials like that. - I’d hate to think what else OJ would be dreaming about. -Sigh. Permission granted in indulging, but only for about 30 seconds. “Sand, or the 80’s...”? Really?

2 - I actually have (had at one point) all the depicted games in that ad (The 4-switch console I got at an earlier yard sale has since gone crazy. But not the six-switch, from a later yard sale, with the included Paddles and both Super Breakout and Asteroids, and others)

I got my console later that year and it included Combat and Super Breakout, joysticks and paddles. It was still called the "Atari Video Computer System" and not yet the Atari 2600.

I think the kid in the aim commercial is Jason Lively who played Rusty Griswold in European Vacation and Chris in Night of the Creeps

People always say this but he was born in March of '68. This commercial has a 1981 copyright stamp. Which means he would have been only 13 in the ad. I don't think it's him.
