Interestingly, W Gadsby is still very much in business, still run by a fifth generation Gadsby, although not based in Stratford anymore.

I love the pace…nice and slow so that we have time to absorb the scene. It’s interesting after few just a few photos how people take the time to dress up. It was a slower pace of life back then.

It is absolutely Arnold. He worked out on that Beach for many, many years. Unfortunately when he became famous he had to stop working out there because of the crowds of people wanting his autograph.

That wasn't the Hoover Dam; it was the Boulder Dam. Congress changed the name Boulder to Hoover in 1947.

Thank you - I was just trying to remember the original name a few days ago - my memory isn’t what it used to be😁. We moved to Phoenix in 1955 and I still have vague memories of hearing it called Boulder Dam even those it had been renamed not that many years before!

I was impacted by all of them but what I appreciate is the fact that you actually gave us time to look at them then you title them and then you untitled them I was able to take some of the pictures with the titles so that I can remember what it was about or something and then some of them I snapchatted just because I like the picture so anyway very cool very very good presentation

They are fantastic photos. Just wanted to point out that the basket store was Ga-D-sby The business came into being in 1864, and it is still going to this day.

Really need to research more about these photos. The captions of 100 years ago, or early 1900s are not correct, as the dress of the day in some photos were from the very late 1800s, and at least before 1910. And the Australian mugshot of the con man, it's 'CHEQUE' in our country.

That’s fantastic! My father’s family lived near Ft Worth Texas and they had Piggily Wiggily. I’ve lived in KC for many years and I can’t remember ever seeing one here. I always got a kick out of the name when I was a little kid. 😂

At 26;26, photo shows people on a road trip "up north" during the 1930s, however the license plate clearly show 1940. Not a big deal, just a little detail I noticed. I think 1939 would have been the tail end of the depression. They look rather prosperous.

My great-grandfather was professional photographer around 1880-1920 and I have pictures he took of my grandfather (his son born 1888) dresses ,Ike a girl! That was very usual for boys about age 5 - grandpa even had beautiful blond ringlets!
