who the fuck was the Debbie downer at the end? Jesus Christ.

Have you watched all episodes, they've talked about all golden oldies in both in positive and negative ways. As a social experiment I am finding it really interesting especially as they have reached halfway point and repeated some of the initial tests. But I do have to agree I find it sad when "Debbie downer's" do state the negative as it makes me remember that these are sadly people who may not be with us in a few years. I just hope that a lot of people watching this will be more considerate and spend a few minutes of there day talking to an elderly person so they don't feel so alone.

This is exactly what older people need. My gran had 6 kids, 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and said thats what kept her young throughout her life. No longer with us but we all talk about her like she's still here today.
@XaviRonaldo0Ай бұрын
My dad now has 2 great grandchildren at nearly 77. He's often thought that he's sick of life and all his friends dying around him but new additions to the family give him a will to live. I'm 40 now and his youngest child and he's still pushing me for more grandkids but it ain't gonna happen unless I fall in love with a woman who still wants them. I actually ended a potential long term relationship not long ago because she was early 30s and still wanted children and was heart set on it. So we never got serious. Such a shame because we seemed compatible in every other way but we were both set in what we wanted

Many cultures have the older generations helping raise the young, and living in the same home. There are many benefits for both. It should be normalised globally.

I miss my Gran too. She died in '95 & I miss her every day. She was such an integral member of our family & lived with us for a long time when her physical health started to go. We tried to look after her when she developed Alzheimer's too but she became distressed. In the end we had to find her a home although it took us almost a year to find a good one for her. It was in the area she grew up so she knew nearly everybody there. She became reacquainted with an old lady who used to babysit my Mum. I wish I could she her once more to tell her how loved she was. I hope she knew. I can't remember if I told her as an adult.

She reminds me of my Great Nanna, who is almost 90. Such a gem and still sharp as a tack. She’s a mother, nanna, great nanna and a “super nan” which is what our family has always referred to our great-great grandparents as, they’re super grandparents! Haha. I hope all the time that she’s still around when I decide to have my first child. She is incredible. But either way I’ll carry her legacy on, and her great grandchildren will always know how amazing her and my great grandfather were.

Just the sweetest lady! Bless her heart and her determination to not be left out, gosh I just wanna give her a massive hug! My nan is 93 this year, and she refuses to use her mobility scooter. She will use her zimmer frame or walking stick and thats about it, and we always have to tell her she's naughty because during the first lockdown in the UK, which was March 2020, she had a fall, stayed in hospital and had to do physio for 4 weeks. That same day after getting out of hospital, she had another fall and actually broke her pelvic bone. Because she always wants to pick up the tiniest speck of dirt off the floor, she may need glasses but as soon as it comes to something being on the floor, she's right on it and is searching the floors for any dirt she can pick up. No use telling her to ask someone or to wait until a friend, family member or carers come round to ask them, cause she won't wait. She's so funny though, and she remembers her childhood as if it were yesterday, talking about living in London during the war and talking about the Blitz and everything else. I love elderly people, cherish your grandparents/parents etc, whilst you still can.

When i was 19 my first job was in community care in London, i did the job for 18 years, in that time i met some truely wonderful people, it made me grow up very fast, as a wee lad fron N. Ireland it give me life skills and made me a far better person, many of the people i looked after where in there 70s 80s and 90s, every day was not the same and i loved to listen to all the old storys about what life was like in London back in the day, i still visit a nurseing home and even brought my dog for few years he brought such joy to the older people, so well done to channel 4 for this, i think its so important that children and older people do come togather and these kids will never for get this, with all the problems we face now with social care we need to look again how we look after our older folk.
