Paramedics are concerned after an 81-year-old dementia patient refuses help from her carers and refuses to let them in. The medics are worried about what is causing her outburst. Elsewhere, a man is in immense pain from his swollen abdomen which could be a sign of a stomach ulcer. An elderly lady suffers a fall and the paramedics rush her to hospital.
For the very first time, an ambulance has been rigged with cameras that provide a unique perspective on what it's like to respond to emergency calls. 'Inside The Ambulance' follows paramedics from the West Midlands Ambulance Service in England as they take us right into the heart of the action. We see heroism at work in the actions of these first responders. We also enter the lives of people in crisis and learn their unique stories.

Love the way they dealt with her. Just convincing her gently to open the door and just going all out on distractions until she calmed down. Dementia is so sad.

It’s pretty much bed buddies with Alzheimer’s in terms of how devastating it can be, because they basically die twice, first, you lose them mentally, as their psychological state collapses, and then very quickly, their physical health follows, sometimes going as far as them even forgetting, how to breathe or worse.

@@silasmcgee3647 I was just about to say this. You definitely lose them to two deaths. Death of who you always knew, then death of the body. It is a horrid disease. I worked a dementia unit for over a decade til I had to move to congnively aware as I simply couldn't deal with it any longer. Not because of the patients, but the families continuing grief.

My grandmother was a lot like Joyce. She would get paranoid and refuse to let anyone help her. I'm glad these paramedics were so gentle with the old lady.

I wonder if maybe the gal with the abdominal pain had a ruptured ovarian cyst. No idea, just that her symptoms were SO similar to mine when I ended up in the hospital for that.

I just love this show and how kind everyone is. No paramedic in USA will go in your kitchen and make coffee or tea. I hope we all find kindness and compassion in life. ❤

Too many people at Joyce's front door. Everyone needs to stand away. She feels threatened. She trusts the male paramedic. Let him take the lead. Could be a UTI

What lovely folks they have on the ambulance crew. It is not good to see these folks with dementia living alone. I've been the nurse for demetia/Alzheimers patients and it gets so bad that they need around the clock observations and cares. I've experienced the abd pain many times and had to adjust my diet to exclude all carbs. And the only thing that helped that intense pain I used to get from GERD and esophageal reflux with aspiration was IV Zofran! Not pain medication. I did get help from a nice ED doc was a strong pain med + the Zofran. The next time it happened I thought again I was having pancreatitis it was so painful all I could do was rock and moan in pain for hours. Now I have some Zofran that I take if it starts hurting and it usually will work well. I had to stop using so much over the counter pain medication years ago, but had found myself treating my severe chronic in between pain with Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen again. Gave me fatty liver disease twice now. I have to stay away from all the foods that cause inflammationtoo much to comment. But mostly carbs.

I like this show over the London Ambulance show that just goes to OD's or stabbings. And leaves a 95 year old man that has fallen on the ground for 5 hours because they are just too busy.
