Hi Sean, glad you're recovering okay from your bee sting! Bless you! 👍 Don't worry about the milk it will go that colour when it's frozen but will return to the normal colour once defrosted! Once defrosted and before unsealing give the milk a little shake as you can get watery milk settle on top all will be fine though. 👍 Yeah from tomorrow (Fri) it will be 20c here so much more comfortable. We've been flinging the windows open first thing to get the cool air in then closing them up and the curtains to keep the sun out later! Yesterday was 25c and today the same. We generally sit in the backroom in the afternoon as cooler and sit out in the eve atm which has been lovely! I saw a pic of a Juneberry in blossom that is a really pretty plant I can see why you got it! 😍 Your garden flowers are really coming along. I had Crystal Palace Lobella a few years ago it is pretty I agree. Re the gate you could have it open out onto the river if you had a picket fence poss? Good idea re the postbag once a week but would that make one very long episode? Anyway, take care, until next time.

Your flowers look amazing ❤ and your cat. You can make crustless quiche with eggs. Using chopped spinach, sliced red pepper, cooled fried onions or mushrooms, grated cheese, leeks, peas, whatever you like that is not watery. Need 5 or 6 eggs, well beaten, a tub (250g), cottage cheese, a cup and a half of veggies, and herbs and spices like oregano, basil, onion powder, paprika, lemon pepper, black pepper. Pour into a greased pie dish or casserole dish. Top with grated cheese and bake at 325-350 for 45 min or until a knife comes out clean. Serve as wedges with salad.or chips.

Been reading through the comments and intrigued by the wide range of reaction to ambient air temperature! I am concluding that tolerance must be mediated by the clime in which one lives: What feels cool for one person is warm to another. I am in northern Kentucky, just across the Ohio River from Cincinnati, Ohio (my hometown) and we had a heat wave here last week that was brutal for this early in the summer! It was 90* to 100* (F) every day and the humidity levels rivaled Florida in the summer (I used to live in the panhandle). During my Florida years, I learned the value of pacing oneself, and to get outside early in the morning and warm up with the day! I resist using the air conditioner as I prefer to have the windows open so I can hear the birds, have fresh air through the house, and save on the electric bill. But, when the humidity sets in, over 50*, I get concerned about mildew and so turn on the A/C. I set the house temp on 76* which, when coming in from 100* feels quite nice. Last week, in the middle of the heat wave, my A/C went down. An $89 call from the repairman (around 70 in your money), revealed the problem to be dead batteries in the thermostat! Who knew that the thermostat ran on batteries? LOL! The young man that came to fix the problem felt bad having to charge me so much money for something so simple, but I told him to consider it 'tuition'! I'm loving your channel! My efforts have been late going in this year, too! I did finally get the green beans sown...Blue Lake bush beans so far and, later today, will be setting up some Kentucky Wonder pole beans. The portion of my yard dedicated to the garden is about the size of your allotment (from what I can tell) and I am sometimes overwhelmed by all that needs doing! You are so right about living your own life and letting others live theirs. Time in this life is so short...learn from the past, plan for the future, but LIVE in the moment! Obsessing about the past or future is the Devil's way of robbing of us the joys and rewards of the here and now. Peace, my friend, peace.

June Berry is also known as a cultivated Saskatoon Berry. They're absolutely delicious. I picked some last week, in fact made a bit of a glutton. They're hardy, can grow quite high, and can be quite prolific if planted in almost any soil type, but the wild version grows mostly along the lower sides of moist areas, at the bottom of a small hill. The berries make delicious jams, pies, and are even good dried. Enjoy those for years. 🇨🇦

Me again Sean, Maryan. A man who likes cats is a bit of a rarity. Most prefer dogs, but I think a certain trait in a man who likes cats is gentleness, tolerance, and sensitivity. I’ve nothing against dogs as I love all animals, but cats suit me as they are quite independent and don’t need walking. After all, what would a lovely Welsh cottage be without a cat or two. Also you have been kind enough to choose black cats. I fostered many litters of kittens for my local sanctuary and the black ones it seems, nobody wants. So another feather in your cap my dear.

Good morning Sean, 1:30 am here and insomnia hits. Glad you are feeling better. Our temps have been a bit cooler than normal. We usually run an average 24 for the days and 15 at night by the end of june. We've only had a couple of days with normal temps, been a bit of a cooler spring and early summer so far. I have to do my gardening between 6:30 am and 11am then I hide from the sun from 11am on. So in the shade the rest of the time. I just can't handle the sun after that time of day anymore. That is a good price for a waterbutt with all the hardware. For our 55gal barrels with just a spiggot at the bottom are about $60.00 at the farm store and they are recycled pickle or sauce type plastic barrels. Like another poster, the gate would be a cute feature as a small trellis. Maybe a climbing rose or clematis or sweatpeas. If you have a few of the old metal fencing you could get a hacksaw and cut a few pieces to make stakes and cable tie or wire the fence to them for a free standing version or wire it to one of the corrugated panels. So many fun things you get to do with the land! Have a great day.❤

Glad you are ok after the bee sting, they can be nasty. Guess the bee wasn't too good afterwards either. The plants outside your kitchen are mimulus guttatus. I used to grow them from seed & they are lovely little plants, always best to keep on top of dead heading them so more flowers come. Its been very hot & sticky & hard to do anything out in the heat. Just keep hydrated, so make sure you have plenty of water with you if you go to the homestead or for any walks. Someone else has mentioned a first aid box on your homestead which is a good idea. You might never need it, but better to be safe than sorry. The weights look a genius idea! I've never seen any like that before 🤔 Then again I've not looked😂😂 Things are slowly coming together for you now, both at home & at the homestead. Maybe the gate would look nice at the entrance to the river, especially if you clear the path down to the river (maybe next years jobs). Or have it as the entrance to your side of the homestead🤔Just a thought. Try & keep cool & see you next time😄

being a menopausal woman, I really struggle at night getting to sleep because it is too hot, these are some tips: 1. get an air cooler, they are quite cheap 2. get cooling pads that you can freeze the night before, iceblocks 3. get a summer cooling blanket these make a huge difference to me. You can also get a full body cooling pad but this may take more space in freezer and fridge. I have also have a usb handfan that i can blonk in my living room or I use while on the train. Not being able to sleep in the heat can be a big probelm. the cooling pads are essential in the heat. the uk is too humid.

Just a thought if it were me. I would not worry about building the greenhouse yet. I do speak from experience (no greenhouse for me, not even a shed, but my growing beds are quite neat). I have limited time and strength. So maybe a bit like you Sean. Main thing is really keeping on top of the weeds. You can do that if you start with a small growing bed and see how you go on. This will take quite a lot of time and strength. Just maintaining one bed. I have 6 beds, a herb garden and small orchard. And I spend hours on that lot. I am also the Wildlife Officer for the allotment and that uses the rest of my strength. I push myself. But not too much. I call for help sometimes. I am not too proud to do that. I think I benefit the wildlife so I do not think I am shellfish. 🦐 🤣

I originally come from NYC but now live in Virginia, which is considered the southeast in the USA. We are close to the Atlantic Ocean. It has been between 85 and 95 degrees for two weeks now. The people from Wales would absolutely die! We are blessed to have AC throughout our house, as many homes in the south do. The real problem is the lack of rain. Water is expensive, and we haven’t had a significant rain in six weeks. Trees are dropping leaves as they turn brown and wither. Almost like the fall, but so bad for the trees. Keeping the garden going is a huge problem, as I have a number of water hungry plants. They wither quickly and require more water than others. Butterfly bushes doing ok, as are spirea. Hydrangea cannot go without a soaking almost daily. Thinking of removing them for next year because of how our climate is going. Very hot, and little rain.

Hi Sean, I would suggest trying the wooden gate out as a ladder for the cats to use in your home garden to climb from the lower level up to the next. I have a ladder from a bunk bed that my cats use to climb from the front catnip garden to the front porch. It's fun to watch!

Here in Canada Juneberries are also known as Saskatoons or Serviceberries,,,,they like bitter cold winters and poor infertile soil and typically grow on our prairies in the middle of our country,,,,they are so yummy as a jam !! Your posies are coming along nicely Sean ! Keep pacing yourself so the homestead doesn't become a burden , we fibro sufferers know all to well how our minds think we can do it all , but not in reality ! Gardening should be a pleasure not a chore ,,,,,keep well Cherryl from Canada

It’s 95 F here in NJ, USA🥵. It’s too hot to do much of anything. And by the way, I’m Scottish and we have always kept the spoon in the teacup. I still do even though I don’t use teabags anymore. Love your videos, it’s like visiting a friend 😊

Looking forward to seeing you plant all your gorgeous plants at the Homestead. I don't think you will need those dumbells with all the work you have got to do there!! You'll get plenty of exercise and fresh air and that will do you the world of good, providing you don't overdo it!! Your flowers in the garden are beautiful and a real treat for you to see from your Kitchen window. Also I adore your cats. I especially love black cats. Unfortunately we lost our old boy last October which was so devastating and still is. We do have two more house cats. They come out in the garden with us but we don't leave them out because we live on an awful main road. Are your cats sisters? Glad you enjoyed Manchester as well. We live in Stockport, Cheshire so very near to where you were. fI would still rather live in the Welsh Valleys though!! Hope you feel better after your bee sting. Thanks for sharing. I am thoroughly enjoying your Vlogs. Best wishes.

Hiya Sean, first message from me but a regular viewer for years. Glad to see you hopefully settled and the homestead looking mighty. A small tip with that frozen milk, if you turn it upside down and let it drip thaw slowly in fridge, you'll get a wonderfully creamy milk with water left frozen in the container. I use it for my coffee and its fantastic. Well anyways, take care yourself and good luck with everything

Winter here now in Aus, wet and chilly but that's good because it's the first decent rain we've had this year. My rainwater tanks will be happily filling from the roof, we were running down a fair bit even though they store about 10,000 litres.

I live in the SE US and it has been in the high 90'sF for a couple of weeks with no rain. Plants are literally baking. The soil under the mulch is moist, but the leaves just sunburn. I have a well for water, and I'm afraid to water much since we've had no rain. I usually get stung at least a couple of times each summer by bees, or more likely wasps. Wasp nest are everywhere in the summer here. You walk under the shed roof where they've built a nest, and they sting you on the back of the neck a couple of times. It does hurt. I hate to kill animals indiscriminately, but all wasp nests get sprayed in my yard.

Sean have you heard about Vegplotter? It is on online programme that is free for a basic plan and then you can visually plan the Homestead with its buildings, veg and flower beds. Be good to see a visual plan of you ideas for it cos I can’t always imagine how it will be when you talk about it. It’s such an exciting venture isn’t it? When you were in London you dreamed about having your own plot of land so you must feel ask accomplished and satisfied x love the videos and it’s so good to see that you are doing so well. ❤
