I'm remembering my younger days...I was very inventive when it came to getting in trouble.. That"laxative" token made me recall what I did to my little brother....I took a package of"Ex-Lax" and put it in a Hershey's wrapper...He gobbled her down... The results were spectacular.... And,as for me.... I couldn't keep my big mouth shut... Results were immediate and I couldn't sit comfortable for awhile...🤕😂

27/12/2023.. My comment Always had this interest in finding an historical Item & after watching Time Team I understand that the earth & structure around it all helps to put the object into historical context which is important for our history . The only example I can give is a run out on the Cotswold hills above the Stroud Valleys . Years ago my best mate bought a metal detector which we tried out on what's know locally one of the commons where cows roam in the summer . So we started in a random area just trying it out & soon we heard that familiar beep & dug into the earth find a military button , then we moved a small distance & beep again , digging just below the surface we found a number of crushed baked bean cans ?? What We were finding is the detritus of the 2nd WW2 , this is where the yanks camped in what was knick named sosages , a camp site holding US soldiers before DDAY . After reading about it years later it became clear this is what it was & tho my mate who kept the button , I'm sure we could of traced the army unit camped there but those two Items told me a every day story . My mother was a local lass who was picked up by an American truck & taken with other local girls to the US field Hospital in the Painswick area who held dances for the soldiers & she loved to dance , my Aunt also had many Photos of the period of US temporary army field camps in the Selsley common area .

I bet that compact made his whole week and he'll be showing that off for a long time. I always think to myself "what happened here in the the past" when I find a site that produces much more then the usual amounts of relics and coins then the nearby homesites. And especially when the sites are showing signs of heavy activity between this 20's to the 30's era. I'm less surprised to hit a honey hole or an overly productive farmhouse in the 1800's then this 20's - 30's era. And the reason for this thought is being America just got out of the first world war and survived the Spanish flu back to back. And although we recovered pretty quick from that the country had just begun it's start of a "roaring economy". And though the country was creating well paying jobs people only had started to save money as many young soldiers started buying a car and a home so most people didn't have pockets exploding with casht??? So whenever I luck out and find myself a hot spot like this (and I'm sure I'm not the only one) but my mind starts to recreating a possible scenario of what went on like there's a mystery to solve. And the finds lead you to think about what scenarios might have happened. I'll give an example to explain my thought then come back to how it might relate to this definite hot spot/honey hole you're on. So for instance if I find colonial buttons with early horse tack, then a Colonial coin like a King George copper or small Spanish 1/2 Reale and then I find a musket ball or 2 so knowing I live in a state with some of the most Revolutionary War skirmishes and several near by my mind starts to wander off thinking maybe I'm on a skirmish site or some kind of Rev war involvement here. And it's not far fetched to think it because soldiers camped in fields but the upper brass or generals would often set up nearby in a civilians mansion or a farm house for comfort while he draws up a strategy. Even though it's not the camp he would have soldiers coming and going with reports and to give orders. People often were scared their farmhouse my be raided or burned if caught housing generals or helping injured soldiers so in fear they often buried their money or heirloom jewelry nearby just in case since the British were notorious for looting these people giving shelter to the militia or anyone like a general so my mind is always wondering am I gonna find a buried cache here. While the odds are minimal it has happened which only makes you think about it more on the next hot honey hole I find. But now how that thought relates to this mystery site. This site you found here had enough good targets on the first hunt to call you back and you continued to dig interesting relics (clues???) and the coins you are digging are really grouping tight in that mid to late 20's almost 1930 date. And it's more then just 1 or 2 wheats you pulled big silver last time I believe and it falls right there at this time. IMO to me this time is what's raising a red flag with me. By the end of the 20's Americans did have money to spend but we had what might be the answer here. Prohibition! When you pull up a stack of shot glasses near a rare high end French Sterling Silver Art Deco make up case and a decent amount of coins with big silver I can't help but wonder it there might have been a private speak easy on that site. I would try to see if you can get a map to see where any home was and possibly a huge barn that might have been a private night club because this time frame in history is dead in the middle of prohibition. A house wife isn't going to carry any high end make up to do chores. Being that silver case came from France and wasn't a cheap Avon product maybe there was a private speak easy where people dressed up to come to some private night club. I would look really close at all your non coin finds and even the trash very closely as a whole instead of just a bunch of individual things lost in time. It might also shed light in the old toys if they are being found in the same area. People have kids and they probably had their own play area aside and might have had a nanny or someone keeping an eye on them. Even those Hubley toys weren't exactly inexpensive toys. Sure they were cheap to today's prices but at a time where many toys were cheap wooden toys some were better quality and it would fit the "theory" of wealthy people getting dressed up with women carrying their expensive make up with them to go somewhere. Personally I would try to find out about that property in the past. How many buildings were on site there in the 20's Who knows maybe there was a decent size barn or a carriage house there at some time? Maybe they had a still cooking moonshine? Nobody knows looking at an empty field but that might have been much more then just some small residence. Imagine if you searched the library and found out that the revenuers knocked down a big private night club? Stranger things have happened. Maybe there's jars of coins buried on site because the guy who buried them went to jail and it was never recovered? I would like to see a pic of everything you guys dug all together especially the junk because it might tell a story when they're all put together. Makeup is kind of common to find but usually a piece here a piece their but not a lot of make up all from prohibition era in one yard together if that isn't a trash pit which wouldn't have those coins and toys. That's a site I would return to quite a bit poking around in tight spots like under bushes because those bushes weren't there 100 years ago. Ugh sorry I did it again writing another mini book lol I can't help it because being another relic loving hunter for over 4 decades I get excited especially when things are starting to possibly tell a story. That and I'm recovering from a rough injury so having so much time to sit and watch everyone dig great things and I can swing a coil is teasing and torturing me SMH Well good luck happy hunting I hope you guys make even bigger discoveries there. You friend using that small sniper coil is really smart idea to keep chipping away thinning targets out from between iron.
